TAGFEST, 2018 Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. George Bernard Shaw GENERAL GUIDELINES: The festival is open to students of classes IV to XII. There are nine events. Each student can participate only in one event. Participating schools must register for at least five out of nine events. Only schools participating in at least seven events will qualify for the overall trophy. Registration must be confirmed positively by August 17, 2018 through the attached registration form via email to info.eok@tagoreint.com. The names of participants must reach the host school before August 22, 2018. The schools are requested to confirm their participation acknowledgement is not received within four days after registration. On-the-spot registration will not be entertained. EVENT DETAILS Cartoon Story (Create a Short Story in Scratch 0) : IV-V No. of Participants : One team of two students : 1 Hour : On the spot Judgment Criteria : Originality, Creativity, Use of Scratch features and Presentation The participants will be provided with Scratch 0 (offline version) to create a story with the inbuilt Scratch features. The participants will not be allowed to bring any images, audio and video files in any format. TrashBot(Robotics) : VI X No. of Participants : One team of two students : 2 Hours Judgment Criteria : Creativity, Originality, Number of tasks completed The students have to build and bring a robot which can pick up trash and throw it in the dustbin. The robot can be remote controlled or made out of any kind of kit. The arena will have trash items such as cans, bottles, balls etc. Teams will be given 1 hour for setting up the TrashBot & testing. Each team will be given 3 minutes to complete the task. Pen and Ink Zentangle Art pen. : VI-VIII No. of Participants : One : 1 ½ Hours : Negative and Positive Space through Zentangle Art Judgment Criteria : Creativity, Clarity of Patterns, Originality, Relevance to the theme Participants must bring the required materials such as black gel pen, black marker, black ink and nib, black sketch. They will be provided with only an A3 sized cartridge sheet by the host school. They may use any one of the above mentioned mediums for their art work. Participants will not be permitted to use any kind of references in the form of books, pictures, mobile phones etc.

They will be provided with only half a handmade sheet by the host school. Participants will not be permitted to use any kind of references in the form of books, pictures, mobile phones etc. Creator and the Creation No. of Participants Judgment Criteria : IX & X : One team of three students : 3 Minutes : Content of the interaction, Unity of thought in presentation, Characterization, Costume Participants must choose any one of the famous writers of English Literature from the ones listed below. They will then select any two of the well-known characters that he created. These two characters will interact with their creator, the writer and ask him questions. One of the participants will be the creator and the other two his creations. The characters can be from the same or different books/plays. The interaction need not be confined to the books to which the characters belong. The teams have the freedom to incorporate anything that is relevant to the writer or the characters chosen. The characters should be true to their roles in the book/play and behave accordingly during the interaction. List of writers: Jonathan Swift, Amitav Ghosh, Bertolt Brecht

Sounds of Silence (Create a script based on an object and showcase it in a non-verbal drama/mime) : XI & XII No. of Participants : One team of two students : 1 hour to form the script, and 3 minutes maximum to showcase it Judgement Criteria : Content, Creativity, Originality, Interpretation, Presentation Each team will be given two objects on the spot, pertaining to the theme of the event. This needs to be interpreted with respect to the objects being a manifestation of life. They will be given a time limit of an hour to formalise the script based on the interpretation of the object. A copy of the script will be given to the judges at the end of the hour, helped by the student helper in - charge on the spot of the competition. All participating teams will then enact their script in a non-verbal drama/mime. An introduction to the act must be stated before the act is started. The non-verbal act needs to be of a minimum of 2 minutes and maximum of 3 minutes. The first bell will be rung when the act/drama starts, second bell to denote the completion of 2 minutes, and the third bell on the completion of the total 3 minutes. The host school will provide sheets for the formulation of the script. However, participants need to carry their own notebooks/ pages to jot down their rough ideas. Any submission after the deadline will not be entertained. The selected teams will be intimated on August 28, 2018. Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit. The content and the sound track should be original. No change in the movie will be allowed once the entries have been submitted.
