This is just the second time Ohio State has participated in the WNIT. The Buckeyes won fi ve games, including the championship game in front of a sold-out crowd at New Mexico to win the title in 2001. Ohio State and Morehead State are meeting for just the third time on the hardwood. The Buckeyes won both ends of a home-andhome series with the Eagles in 1982 and 1983. The Buckeyes were the No. 5 seed in this year's Big Ten Tournament but their stay was short-lived as they fell to Wisconsin 73-63 in the second round on Thursday. Three Buckeyes earned All-Big Ten accolades: Dorka Juhász 2nd Team and All-Freshman Team, Carmen Grande and Carly Santoro each earned honorable mention honors. Point guard Carmen Grande is 3rd in the Big vs. Record: 23-10 Conf: 13-5 OVC HC: Greg Todd Ten at 5.0 assists per game. With her 1,000th career point on Feb. 21, Grande became just the 31st player in NCAA history with more than 1,000 points and 800 assists in a career. Grande is also the NCAA active assist leader for men or women with 837. Dorka Juhász was named second team All-Big Ten and was named to the All-Freshman Team by the league's 14 coaches. The Hungary native has a team-high 10 double-doubles on the season and is leading the team in both scoring (11.6 ppg) and rebounding (8.9 rpg). Freshman guard Janai Crooms has scored nine or more points in 16 of the last 17 games (consistent!!). She has two 20-point games this season and is shooting over 50 percent since the start of conference play. Carly Santoro is also averaging in double-fi g- ures at 11.5 points per game and has a teamhigh eight games of 15 or more points. She also leads the team in three-pointers with 41.

But the fi rst time went pretty well. The previous appearance was in 2001 when the Buckeyes won fi ve games in route to the title. They beat Cincinnati and DePaul at home, then won at Western Kentucky before returning home to beat James Madison in the semifi nals. The championship game was played in front of 18,018 fans in The Pit at New Mexico. Jamie Lewis made two late threes to lead the Buckeyes to a 62-61 victory. THREE EARN ALL BIG TEN ACCOLADES Three Buckeyes earned All-Big Ten accolades this season. Freshman post Dorka Juhász was named second team All-Big Ten by the coaches and was also named to the All-Freshman Team. She was named honorable mention by the media.juhasz was the team's leading scorer and rebounder and had a team-high 10 double-doubles through the regular season. Carmen Grande was named honorable mention by both the coaches and the media. She has started every game this season and was third in the conference at 4.9 assists per game during the regular season. Carly Santoro received honorable mention by honors by the media. She averaged 11.5 points per game heading into postseason play and led the team with 39 three-pointers. Adreana Miller was also recognized by the conference as the team's Sportsmanship Award honoree. POSTSEASON EXPERIENCE When it comes to postseason experience (and success), this current group of Buckeyes don't have a whole lot to draw from. Makayla Waterman, Jensen Caretti and Savitha Jayaraman obviously were all part of last year's run to the Big Ten Tournament title. But beyond that... Waterman played in eight Big Ten Tournament games while Caretti played in fi ve Big Ten Tournament games. As for the grad transfers -- Carmen Grande, Carly Santoro, Adreana Miller and Najah Queenland -- they have a combined two conference tournament victories. Miller was part of LaSalle's A-10 Tournament win over St. Bonaventure in 2017 and Queenland played in Pacifi c's win over Pepperdine in the 2017 WCC Tournament. This will be Grande's fourth consecutive year playing in the WNIT. She had a record of 2-3 in the previous three years at Ball State, winning games in 2016 and 2018. She scored 16 points in each of those victories. Queenland also played in the 2015 WNIT as a freshman at Pacifi c but they fell Sacramento State in the opening round. 3 1,000 POINTS, 800 ASSISTS When point guard Carmen Grande notched her 1,000th career point at Michigan State on Feb. 21, she became just the 31st player in NCAA history with more than 1,000 points and 800 assists in a career. Grande is the only active player on that list. There are just 20 players with 1,000 points and 850 assists. Grande is 13 assists away from reaching 850 in her career. FRESHMAN DOING WORK The three Buckeye freshmen of Dorka Juhász, Janai Crooms and Aaliyah Patty have all made signifi cant impacts this season. In fact, all three have started a signifi cant amount of games this season. The trio has accounted for 721 points this season which is 41.4 percent of the teams scoring. With a team full of new faces and fi ve players in their graduate years, to have three freshmen step-up and make their mark is impressive. STIFLING DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCES Against Maryland on Jan. 5, the Buckeyes held the Terrapins to under 40 percent shooting for just the third time this season. In the wins over Indiana and Michigan State, OSU held both squads to its worst shooting percentages of the season. The Spartans scored just 55 points which was 27.5 points below their league-leading average. Michigan came into the game on Jan. 20 averaging 81.0 points per game at home. The Wolverines needed a late 13-3 rally to get to 62 points. The Buckeyes forced Maryland into 23 turnovers in the game on Jan. 24. That was the most in a B1G game for the Terps and one-off their season-most. RECAPPING THE WISCONSIN GAME Five Buckeyes scored in double fi gures but Wisconsin caught fi re from long range and knocked-off Ohio State 73-63 in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament. Dorka Juhász led the Buckeyes with 10 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the year. Carly Santoro made a pair of threes and fi n- ished with 11 points while Carmen Grande had 12 points, eight assists and fi ve rebounds. Freshmen Janai Crooms and graduate Adreana Miller each chipped-in with 10 points. The Badgers came into the game shooting just 28.4 percent from beyond the arc but made 11 of 17 attempts on Thursday for 64.7 percent. That was their best showing of the season and it helped them erase a 10-point halftime defi cit. Kelly Karlis made all four of her long range attempts and fi nished with 24 points. An 11-2 run early in the second quarter, spurred by a pair of threes from Grande, gave the Buckeyes a 26-14 lead and forced Wisconsin the use its second timeout of the half. OSU held the advantage through the end of the quarter and led 32-22 at the half. Grande led all scorers in the fi rst 20 minutes with 10 points. Wisconsin cut the lead to 35-32 midway through the third quarter and then Miller scored eight points in a row for the Buckeyes to push the lead back out to 46-37. The Badgers stayed close by hitting their last three three-pointers of the quarter and the Buckeye advantage was just 46-43 headed to the fourth. Wisconsin made 4-of-5 three-point attempts in the fourth quarter and out-scored the Buckeyes 30-17 in the fi nal stanza to secure the 73-63 victory. MILESTONE WATCH Carmen Grande - 13 assists from 850 in her career Makayla Waterman - 8 rebounds from 500 in her career - 3 blocks from 100 in her career DIGGING OUT OF HOLES Certainly you don't want to be making a habit of falling behind by double digits but the Buckeyes have been able to overcome a number of big defi cits this season. They came back from a 14-point hole in a 76-69 victory over North Carolina on Nov. 29, bested Indiana 55-50 on Jan. 10 after trailing by 12 points and then erased an 18-point Penn State lead with just over six minutes to play on Jan. 17. They also overcame a 14-point lead by Wisconsin on Feb. 17. Since the start of the 2000 season, the Buckeyes have not comeback to win the game after trailing by 18 points or more. This the fi rst time since the 2014-15 season in which the Buckeyes have overcome multiple 12-point or greater defi cits in the same season. CROOMS WITH AN ALL AROUND NIGHT Janai Crooms stuffed the stat sheet in the win at No. 23 Rutgers on Feb. 14. She fi nished with 10 points, fi ve rebounds, fi ve assists and a season-high six steals. Since 1999, there have been over 1,100 times in which a player has hit each of those marks in a game BUT the interesting note is that Crooms is just one of two true freshman to do it. In fact, the other true freshman to do it since 1999 was St. Louis' Ciaja Harbison and she did it one night earlier on Feb. 13 vs. Duquesne. This note just keeps getting weirder. Crooms is one of just three Buckeyes with those numbers in a game since 1999 and the other two players did it in the SAME game. Tomeka Brown and Courtney Coleman each notched at least 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals in an 87-69 win at Northwestern on Feb. 17, 2002.

GRANDE DISHES NO. 800 Graduate transfer Carmen Grande has hit a pair of assist milestones this season. She notched her 700th career assist on Nov. 9, vs. Detroit Mercy and her 800th on Feb. 6 vs. Penn State. She has had 25 games of 10-plus assists in her career. Since 2005, Ohio State has had a player record 10 or more assists in a games just 24 times, matching Grande s total. Her 837 total assists are more than any other active DI men s or women s player in the country. MCGUFF SIGNS A TOP 3 CLASS Head coach Kevin McGuff knew signing a strong 2019 class was going to be crucial and he and his staff hit a home run, signing a top-5 class according to multiple outlets. The Buckeyes inked four players who all received a fi ve-star rating according to ESPN HoopGurlz rankings and were McDonald's All-American Candidates in their respective states. The fi fth member of the class is one of the top international prospects. Kierstan Bell (No. 6) and Jacy Sheldon (No. 41) were 1-2 in Ohio's Miss Basketball voting last season. Bell was selected to compete in the McDonald's All-American game. Rikki Harris (No. 24) is a 5-9 guard from Indianapolis who may have been even higher in the rankings if her junior season wasn't cut short due to injury. Kaelynn Satterfi eld, a tall athletic win, led Christ the King to a No. 1 national ranking last season and a 29-1 record. Aixa Wone is a 6-2 forward from Barcelona, Spain. She was a top international prospects in the 2018 class but elected to play this season as an amateur for one of the top club teams in Barcelona and will join the Buckeyes for next season. 2018 19 BIG TEN STANDINGS (Through March 10) TEAM CONFERENCE OVERALL STRK HOME ROAD PF PA #9 Maryland 2-3 15-3 3-3 --.833 28-4.875 L1 14-1 10-2 74.9 60.8 #8 Iowa 6-2 14-4 6-2 1.778 26-6.813 W5 15-0 7-5 79.8 67.6 Rutgers 2-3 13-5 2-3 2.722 22-9.710 L1 13-2 7-4 63.9 57.4 Michigan 3-7 11-7 3-7 4.611 21-11.656 L1 13-1 5-8 72.0 63.7 Ohio State 3-5 10-8 2-5 5.556 14-14.500 L2 9-5 5-6 62.1 64.9 Nebraska 2-6 9-9 2-6 6.500 14-16.467 L1 8-6 5-9 72.4 70.1 Minnesota 2-3 9-9 2-3 6.500 20-10.667 L1 14-4 6-5 69.0 59.6 Michigan State 4-4 9-9 4-4 6.500 20-11.645 L1 15-1 3-8 75.1 67.3 Northwestern 3-4 9-9 2-4 6.500 16-14.533 L2 10-5 5-7 66.3 60.2 Indiana 2-4 8-10 2-5 7.444 20-12.625 L1 11-4 6-6 69.1 64.7 Purdue 3-6 8-10 2-5 7.444 19-15.559 L1 13-4 3-8 64.1 62.5 Penn State 0-5 5-13 0-4 10.278 12-18.400 L3 9-9 3-8 67.7 70.5 Wisconsin 1-5 4-14 1-4 11.222 15-18.455 L1 10-6 1-10 64.2 63.6 Illinois 1-5 2-16 1-5 13.111 10-20.333 L6 8-9 2-9 67.8 70.7 MAGIC NUMBER 70 Head coach Kevin McGuff s style of fast paced offense leads to more possessions and hopefully more points.
