SEDGEFIELD HORSE SHOW Rules and Regulations Entries In order for stalls to be held, full payment must accompany stall reservations. Due to limited stabling, stalls will be on a first-come, first-serve basis (by the date the check is received, the post mark on the envelope).stall RESERVATIONS WILL NOT BE HELD WITHOUT PAYMENT. Closing date for prepaid stalls is April 28, 2019. Closing date for completed entry blank to be received/postmarked is Friday, April 28. After this date, there will be a $35 post entry fee. Numbers will not be issued without a SIGNED OPEN CHECK or CREDIT CARD held by the horse show secretary. Entry form must include: - All classes or divisions entered. - All mandatory signatures including legal guardian if a minor exhibitor. - Organization membership numbers. - Social Security or federal ID number of owner. - Copy of Negative Coggins test. Every class offered herein, which is covered by the Rules and Specifications of the current USEF Rule Book, will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. In all classes wherein the rules of the USEF do not apply, association rules, if applicable, or Management in all other cases, shall settle any dispute or question that may arise and its decision shall be final. Management reserves the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel entries, disqualify riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition or entries, and cancel or combine classes, or to reschedule classes, to change rings or rotate judges, and to change specifications in jumper classes. Management may designate a jumping order, use THE ONE MINUTE RULE, and/or use a dotted line. STABLING 164 permanent box stalls. Balance - temporary stalls (with doors) under the tent at a cost of $165 prepaid by April 28); $175 (payment received after April 28) per stall. (Initial bedding is not furnished.) Stalls will be ready to receive horses on Wednesday afternoon, the week of the show. STALL FEES MUST ACCOMPANY ENTRIES. Call Sara Steady for reservations and bedding orders or email to info@sedgefieldshowgrounds.com. REFUNDS Full refunds will be given before the closing date of the stalls. After the closing date of stalls, stall fees are not refundable. After the show starts, with the official vet s certificate only, full refund will be given minus a $25 scratch fee and fees for classes already held prior to notification of the horse show secretary, whether exhibited or not. Scratches must be made in the horse show office on the official form. Refunds will be mailed within 30 days after the horse show. LUNGING No lunging permitted in show rings or schooling areas. Lunging only in designated areas. OFFICE/SCHOOLING/SERVICE FEES A $30 fee will be charged for all showing and non-showing horses. SCHOOLING The rings will be set up and available for schooling by 1:00 p.m. the day before the show. Schooling in the show rings is allowed at posted times. $100 fine for anyone riding in the rings before or after the show if rings have been closed. The rings will be available for hacking only in the mornings. No morning schooling is allowed. You must wear a back number when schooling. DAY EXHIBITORS/NON STABLING Horses entered but not stabled must use the designated area for day exhibitors. A $35 grounds fee per horse and a $30 office/schooling/service fee per horse will be charged. NON-NEGOTIABLE CHECKS Checks returned by the bank for any reason will be assessed a penalty of $30 or 10% of the check amount, whichever is greater. Upon notification of a returned check, accounts will be given three (3) days to make full payment. Including the penalty, which must be paid in certified funds, cashier s check or money order. Overnight mail service is advised in order to avoid notification of the sanctioning organizations for disciplinary action.

ZONE 3 SPECIFICATION Zone 3 Specifications will be followed for Children s and Adult Hunters. A copy is available in show office for your review. PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR All exhibitors are required to wear properly fitting ASTM protective headgear with harness secured and properly fitted while riding in the designated schooling and exercise areas, the show ring and while jumping, anywhere on the show grounds. The Sanctioning Associations require all junior riders to wear protective headgear passing or surpassing current applicable ASTM standards with harness secured while riding anywhere on the show grounds. It is the responsibility of the rider, or the parent or guardian or trainer of the junior exhibitor to see to it that the headgear worn complies with appropriate safety standards and is properly fitted and in good condition. All riders must wear hard hats when jumping. MINOR EXHIBITORS Parent(s) or guardian(s) of a minor child shall hold the horse show management and the facility harmless for any injury to such minor. No minor child s entry will be accepted or number issued unless entry is signed by a parent, LEGAL guardian, or trainer. The signature of unrelated persons WILL NOT be accepted. AMATEUR STATUS Adults showing in Adult Amateur and/or Amateur Owner classes must present their amateur certification to the show secretary before numbers will be issued. DOGS All dogs must be under control at all times while on the show grounds. Unrestrained dogs create a serious safety hazard for exhibitors and their horses. Loose dogs will not be tolerated in the show rings area. They will be impounded and the owner will be charged a $100 fine added to their entry fee which will be donated to the SPCA. NON SHOWING HORSE All non-showing horses must have a signed entry blank in the office. A $50 non-showing fee and a $30 office/schooling/service fee per horse per show will be charged. FOOTING Footing in all rings and schooling areas will be sand or screenings. Competition rings will be no less than 275 x 140 in size. PRIZE MONEY AND RIBBONS Prize money will be available in the show office at the conclusion of each exhibitor s showing program. Prize money and/or eight ribbons in all classes unless otherwise specified. TIME SCHEDULE The time schedule and order of events contained herein is tentative. Show management reserves the right to combine, cancel, or reschedule classes in accordance with applicable rules. If there are not more than five entries in a division, management may combine. CHAMPIONSHIPS Hunter Championships will be awarded to 2 of the top 4 entries that have acquired the most points in classes over fences. In addition, these 4 horses will receive full points for under saddle class and half points for model class, if applicable. Point values 10, 6, 4, 2, 1,.5. Jumper championships - Points 10, 6, 4, 2, 1,.5. Ties will remained tied. ADDITIONAL RULES Should any questions or dispute arise that is not provided in the rules, the same shall be referred to the Show Committee, whose decision shall be final. The Sedgefield Horse Show, either officials or employees, will not be responsible for any accident/loss which may occur to any exhibitor, spectator, guest, rider, groom, attendant or other employee, animal or equipment at show.

PARKING Fire regulations prohibit all vehicles, including trailers, vans, and campers from being parked in the stable areas. Vans & trailers will be allowed in the stable area only to load or unload. PARKING AREAS WILL BE DESIGNATED AND VIOLATORS WILL BE TOWED AWAY AT OWNER S EXPENSE. At management s discretion, vans & trailers may be parked off show grounds. DIRECTIONS Take Groometown Rd. exit off I-85. Proceed north on Groometown approx. 1.5 miles to Vandalia Rd. Turn right onto Vandalia Rd. Entrance is on your right. FEED AND BEDDING Feed and bedding reservations are available through horse show office and can be ordered with stalls or by calling/emailing stable manager, Sara Steady, at stalls@sedgefieldshowgrounds.com. OPERATION OF MOTORIZED VEHICLES Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Rule 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. LEADLINE Class 189 Entry Fee: $10 (no other fees) JUMPER DIVISION The class specifications in this division are intended only as a brief description of the event. Consult the proper Table and Section of the USEF rulebook for complete conditions governing each class. Horses must be entered and declared one hour prior to the start of the class. The course and jump order will be posted one hour prior to the start of the class. Horses tied for other than the first place shall not remain tied; time taken to complete the first round course will decide between any horses with equal faults. Tables and sections are detailed on time schedule. Order of go will be posted at the in gate to the jumper ring at least one hour prior to the class. Championship awards will be awarded in the Pony, Low Child/Adult, Children/Adult Jumper, and Junior/Amateur-Owner Divisions. ADD BACKS In all classes that have add backs, the prize money will be divided through 4th place according to the following percentages: 30% 25%, 20% 10%, 10%, and 5%. PONY JUMPER Entry Fee: $35 per class Open to all ponies 14.2 and under with measurement card and junior rider. All ponies jump the same height. There will be a style award for the best style rider to count towards the end of year awards for US Equestrian.
