MINERAL PROCESSOR OF THE YEAR AWARD Gordon Agar introduced Chuck Edwards, Manager of Cameco Corporations engineering and project group, winner of the MINERAL PROCESSOR OF THE YEAR AWARD. This award was presented to Chuck for his contributions to the mineral processing field through 30 years of experience, information and knowledge. Chuck graduated with a B.Sc. In Chemical Engineering from Queen=s University. Chuck joined INCO after graduation and worked at the J. Roy Gordon Research Laboratories and Thompson operation. From there, Chuck held various positions at Eldorado Nuclear, Equity Silver, and Cameco Corporation respectively. After joining Cameco in 1994, Chuck lead the design of the ore handling and milling processes for the McArthur river project, which included full scale testing of new ore handling methods and equipment. He also managed the 1995 McArthur River project feasibility study, which examined four different ore milling options. McArthur River is the worlds largest high-grade uranium deposit. Because of the high ore grade, the innovative ore handling system designed for the McArthur River mine and the Key Lake mill incorporates several unique features. The innovative process design for ore handling and milling was integral to development of this important new uranium project. Chuck is currently involved with the Cigar Lake project.

The Eastern team won handily 13-8 due to strong coaching from Lud Strah (as well as having an outstanding Goaltender in Sylvain Caron). The organizing committee would like to thank the generous sponsors for the Jerseys, Ice rental, transportation, refreshments and pre-game entertainment. As well, many thanks to an original 'Gold Processors', Doug Beaumont for sponsoring the Kilborn Cup and driving to Ottawa during a snow storm to present the cup after the game. Once again the Annual Canadian Mineral Processor Operators Meeting was a success.
