Race 1 DUART HOMESTEAD MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres: The explanation offered by C. Templeton, trainer of Akbar, for the late arrival of the horse on course, was accepted. Bel Setoro, which had been fractious in the tie-up stalls, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to have an abrasion to its off fore fetlock; However, the Club s Veterinary Surgeon deemed Bel Setoro suitable to race. Lady Rah Rah was slow to begin. Alfred s Gift commenced awkwardly. On jumping Beau Regal was bumped by Spirited Kerrie. Shortly after this Beau Regal raced tight between Spirited Kerrie and True Desire which shifted out. Approaching the 600 metres Beau Regal was tightened for room between True Desire and Electronic Dancer which was hanging in away from Bel Setoro which was shifting in. Rounding the home turn Burndiniburn was held up for clear running. Don tgivemelip had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn until approaching the 200 metres. Not Beneficial raced wide without cover for the entire event. L. Beer, rider of Lady Rah Rah, reported that when under pressure in the straight the mare had a tendency to lay in. A post race veterinary examination of Lady Rah Rah revealed the mare to be lame in the offside foreleg. A stable representative was advised that prior to the mare racing again they must be in receipt of a certificate of fitness. R. Bradley, rider of True Desire, which was having its first start, explained that the mare hung in for the entire straight and for this reason she was unable to ride True Desire out in her normal manner.
As a result of True Desire hanging in during the straight, God s Will, which was having its first start, raced in restricted room for the final 200 metres and as a result went to the line not fully tested for the final 100 metres. J. Darose, rider of Bel Setoro, explained that the gelding hung out severely rounding the home turn and proved difficult to control. A post race veterinary examination of Bel Setoro revealed no obvious abnormalities. Mr D. Grass, trainer of Bel Setoro was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding s racing manners in regard to hanging out. Race 2 PASTRY & PIECES SV 3YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres: Malionga was slow to begin. Near the 800 metres Gowana had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Remagen Bridge which was shifting in. Bombsquad raced wide without cover for the entire event. Rounding the home turn General Jack had to be checked to avoid the heels of Bombsquad which shifted in when receiving pressure to its hindquarters from General Jack which was taken out by Rockitellie which was carried out by Hidden Strategy. As the Stewards could not be satisfied that any one rider was at fault, no action was taken. For a short distance approaching the 200 metres Faith n Belief which was racing greenly, had difficulty obtaining a clear run. Near the 100 metres Like A Carousel which was laying out, shifted out and hampering Optical Illusion. B. Evans, rider of Shearer, explained that approaching the 200 metres he had difficulty obtaining a clear run to the inside of Arousing Suspicion which had shifted in and as a result went to the line not fully tested. F. Alesci, rider of Optical Illusion, explained that the gelding travelled well, however, failed to run on in the straight. M. Trotter, trainer of Rockitellie, was of the view that the filly had choked down during the event and made application to add a tongue tie to Rockitellie s gear for its next start. A post race veterinary examination of Rockitellie revealed the filly to have a slow recovery rate. Race 3 BRIEF AFFAIR MAIDEN PLATE - 1700 metres: Shortly after the start Shirlaski became hampered when tightened for room between Trevor and Angola which shifted out. Approaching the 1200 metres when the pace slackened Doctor Hill got is head up when racing close to the heels of Transonic. For some distance after the 1200 metres Anyone Seen Digger got its head up when racing ungenerously. In the early stages Hollywood Starlet raced wide without cover. Approaching the 800 metres Trevor raced wide without cover when improving its position to obtain a position near lead approaching the 600 metres. Near the 800 metres Pins Of Pele had to shift out to avoid the heels of Hollywood Starlet and as a result took Rojoblu wider on the track.
On straightening Hvasstan shifted out to improve its position and bumped Epic Choice on a number of occasions. For the majority of the event Angola raced wide without cover. Approaching the winning post Pins Of Pele and Transonic bumped due to Pins of Pele shifting in. During the running of the event Always In Charge lost its near fore plate. T. Sadler, rider of Transonic, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), in that approaching the 1400 he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Sabato Figlia resulting in that filly having to be checked and taken inwards on to Doctor Hill which was severely hampered when tightened for room onto the running rail. As a result of this incident Epic Choice which was following Sabato Figlia had to be checked and clipped the heels of that filly. T. Sadler had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight September 9, 2012 and to expire at midnight September 25, 2012 a total of 16 meetings (4 metropolitan 12 provincial ). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account T. Sadler s guilty plea. Race 4 CONDO S HORSE TRANSPORT 0-58 HANDICAP - 2200 metres: Third Screen which had been fractious in the gates and got is off hind leg caught, was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon and deemed unsuitable to race and was therefore withdrawn at 2.29 p.m. Stewards ordered the following betting deductions: All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on the late scratching to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: win bets 5 cents; place bets (for winner) - 6 cents; place bets (for 2placegetter) - 7 cents; place bets (for 3placegetter) - 5 cents. Hindu s Girl, St Roper and Duchess Van Deurs were all slow to begin. Seripak began awkwardly. Approaching and rounding the home turn until approaching the 200 metres East Verses West was held up for clear running. In the early part of the straight Te Kawana had some difficulty in obtaining clear running. Earl of Pembroke had a tendency to lay out under pressure in the straight. A.Darmanin rider of Ona Je Cuvar, which finished a distant last, reported that there was something amiss with the mare s action. A subsequent veterinary examination of Ona Je Cuvar did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. A. Mallyon, rider of Duchess Van Deurs, reported that although his mount travelled well throughout the race, it failed to run on when placed under pressure. He added that there may be something amiss with Duchess Van Deurs. A subsequent veterinary examination of Duchess Van Deurs did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. J. Benbow, rider of Hindu s Girl, explained that passing the winning post on the first occasion the mare commenced to hang out and as a result he had to restrain off the heels of St Roper which was racing tight to its outside. As a result Hindu s Girl lost ground. Hindu s Girl continued to hang out for a short distance. B. Higgins, rider of Anotherexcuse, will be notified that a reprimand will be placed on his record in regard to using his whip on six occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres.
M. Gatt, rider of Earl Of Pembroke, was fined the sum of $200.00 for using his whip on six occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account M. Gatt s poor record in relation to this rule. Race 5 A.J. (JOE) STEWART MEMORIAL 0-68 HANDICAP - 1400 metres: Zaccheus was slow to begin. Uno No overraced in the early and middle stages. Zaccheus raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. J. Todd, rider of Don Jose, reported that although racing wide with cover, his mount did not travel well in the early and middle stages and gave ground in the straight. R. Tremsal, rider of Bullion Express, was fined the sum of $300.00 for using his whip on seven occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres. Stewards took into account R. Tremsal s poor record in relation to this rule. Race 6 ROTARY AUSTRALIAN YEAR OF THE FARMER 0-68 HANDICAP - 1700 metres: On jumping Sendari was tightened for room between Grey Chloe and King Can Sing both of which shifted ground. Shortly after the start Nusadarah had to be eased off the heels of Beedeekay which shifted in. Bella Mews was held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Race 7 MILLINERY ASSOC. OF AUSTRALIA 0-62 HANDICAP - 1200 metres: Fast Bucks knuckled shorted after the start. Shortly after the start Silenzia Blue was bumped on the hindquarters by Tanjil which was taken out by Lawreny. Near the 600 metres Try Pickle which improved into a tight run between Endless Pleasure and Doctor Hush, had to be checked when Endless Pleasure shifted out slightly. As a result Doctor Hush was bumped on the hindquarters. In assessing the incident Stewards deemed that no specific rider was responsible for the incident, however still notified I. Gundogdu (Endless Pleasure) that when shifting ground in future he must ensure that he is sufficiently clear. P. Moloney (Try Pickle) was also notified that he must ensure that he does not improve his mounts into positions where there is insufficient racing room. B. Evans, rider of Spirit of Rose reported that his mount travelled well in the early stages but failed to run on when placed under pressure in the straight. B. Knobel, rider of Doctor Hush, which performed below expectations, reported that although racing wide without cover Doctor Hush travelled well until placed under pressure in the straight where it ran on only moderately.
