Coaches Poll: While the other winter sports had an updated coaches poll released this week basketball does not have a new poll released until Monday, January 7, 2018. At that point the CIF-SS will also release an Open Division watch list for girls basketball. As a refresher here were the Inland Sports coverage area teams ranked as of 12/3. Division 1: 7. Corona/Centennial & T16. JW North Division 2AA: 8. Roosevelt, 10. Cajon, 11. Yucaipa, T13. Rancho Verde & 16. Norco Division 2A: 5. Lakeside & 8. Arroyo Valley Division 3AA: T4. Corona/Santiago & 12. Murrieta Mesa Division 3A: 1. Jurupa Valley, 4. Riverside/Poly, 11. Patriot & 14. Beaumont Division 4AA: 1. Temecula Valley & 15. Ramona Division 4A: 2. Hillcrest, 3. Moreno Valley, 7. Hamilton And the opening bell tolls for league play: With the start of season moved up by two weeks and coaches given a little more flexibility in scheduling most area leagues have already started play. Ambassador & Mountain Valley League teams are near the halfway mark of their schedules. Teams in the Raincross Conference are either three or four games into their schedule at the break while the Big VIII & River Valley teams have played two games. Only the Mountain Pass & Southwestern leagues have not had at least a league game and they will get going after Christmas Break. Tournaments Galore: If you are either a coach who likes to scout or a fan of area high school hoops this week is for you. There are a myriad of tournaments for everyone to choose from starting Wednesday and running thru Saturday. Temescal Canyon: The Titans welcomes a field including Elsinore, Vista del Lago, Patriot, Hemet, Corona, Chaparral, and El Segundo for four days of competition. First tip off each day is at 3pm with the finals set for Saturday night at 730pm. Some notable area matchups include-

Tuesday: 6pm Elsinore v Patriot Wednesday: 3pm Hemet v Chaparral (Bulldogs won the first encounter 51-50 at Hemet West Valley s tournament), 430pm Elsinore v Temescal Canyon (Titans won 59-47 in a previous meeting earlier this month) Thursday: 730pm Patriot v Temescal Canyon (Warriors won an earlier encounter 61-53 in OT) Ontario Christian: The Knights welcome a field which includes Chaffey, Sultana, Whittier Christian, and Sultana in a pool along with King's Schools (WA), California HS, and Riverside Prep (#14-5AA) in another pool with Ontario Christian (#7-4A). Teams play twice on Wednesday and once on Thursday to complete pool play. Girls semi-finals are at 12:30 and 2pm on Friday with the finals set for 730pm on Saturday.
