REGISTRATION PACKAGE 2013 2014 SEASON What is Competitive Cheerleading Cheerleading is one of the fastest growing competitive sports in Canada. Cheerleaders work towards perfecting motions, jumps, and cheers. Competitive cheerleaders will also work towards perfecting a two-and a half minute routine, which includes acrobatic stunting, tumbling and dancing. Competitive cheerleading is a great way to improve your strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination. Being a valuable member of a team is a great way to build self- confidence and develop social skills. Competitive cheerleading is the ultimate team sport, as it relies on every member of the team to be successful. Competitive cheerleaders work extremely hard to reach their goals. Give it a try, and you will see that being a part of the Dynamite Cheer All Stars will be a fun and rewarding experience. Rules and Regulations 1. No smoking, drinking of alcoholic beverages or use of drugs. This will warrant dismissal from the program. 2. Challenging the authority of the coach or person in charge, by athlete or parent, will be automatic dismissal. 3. Abusive behaviour, lying, or any negative form of behaviour is ground for dismissal. 4. Each member will follow all rules and guidelines given by the coach or person in charge. 5. Any negative behaviour towards the Dynamite Cheer All Stars, to any other gym or team via any medium (ex. Internet) will result in dismissal from the program. Leadership: 1. Each member must be aware that no person has a right to be a part of Dynamite Cheer All Stars. It is a privilege. 2. Members & parent must be aware of the responsibilities required and the commitment they are making to the team. 3. Each member must be willing to cooperate and be respectful to the coach or any person in charge. 4. Each member must realize the manner in which they conduct themselves while representing Dynamite Cheer All Stars, this directly reflects on the entire program and coaches. 5. Each member must be willing to work hard, take directions and strive for excellence. Expectations: 1. Members will set and maintain the highest examples of behaviour. 2. Members will maintain the proper appearance with no extremes in apparel, hair, make-up, piercing or tattoos. 3. Members will be on time to all activities! 4. Members will do everything in their power to achieve personal and team goals. 5. Each member is responsible for finding out any missed information. Attendance: 1. All practices are mandatory. 2. Members must be on time to practice. Continuous tardiness and or absences will be grounds for disciplinary action or dismissal. 3. Continuous failure to be productive at practice is grounds for disciplinary action or dismissal. 4. If you are sick or injured you must still attend practice (within reason). You will not be required to participate. You will watch any changes that directly affect you. 5. Colds and flu are a part of Canadian winter; athletes are expected to attend competitions, even in their worst condition. Athletes will only be expected to stunt, and modifications to the routine will be made to assist the ill athlete. Athletes, who do not attend jeopardize the success of the entire team. Their roles in the routine will be filled, and a doctor s note will be needed to return training with the team. This is ground for removal from the program. Safety: 1. Jeopardizing the safety of oneself or any other member is grounds for disciplinary action or dismissal. 2. There is absolutely no gum, candy, jewelry of any type in the gym. 3. Length of the Cheerleading Season Our season will run from June until the end of April and the end of May for the Junior team. Please note that this is a full year commitment. I am committed to practicing three times per week: (circle) YES / NO NOTE: The Senior Elite Team may be practicing more than three times per week Competitions and travelling: Dynamite Cheer All Stars will be attending a verity of cheerleading competitions in town as well as an event(s) out of town. All competitions are mandatory! A list of competition names and dates will be provided once they become available. Registration fees include: All competition and Insurance fees *NON-REFUNDEABLE* 2. Clothing fees include: T-shirt, shorts, socks, hair bow, cheer bag, track suit, and competition uniform *NON-REFUNDABLE* 3. Travel fees include: travel to and from the competition destination, hotel and travel while in the competition city. Payment Terms & Conditions Acceptable methods of payment include: Cash or Cheque NSF cheques will incur a $25 banking/administration fee. Invoices: When payment is not received, a statement with the current balance will be sent home. These payments are required immediately. Unpaid invoices are grounds for removal from the program. Refunds Registration fees, clothing fees, cheer camp fees are NON-REFUNDABLE Travel Fees will only be refunded if paid in full, however once any aspect of our trip has been booked and paid for then that portion of the trip fee will be NON-REFUNDABLE. Also all travel fees will be NON- REFUNDABLE 60 days prior to the trip. Monthly fees (this includes coaching and tumbling fees) will only be refunded if paid in full and will only be for remaining months that have not been used. Once an athlete has attended one practice in any given month that month becomes NON-REFUNDABLE. Fundraising money is NOT eligible for refunds Fundraising Fundraising will be done throughout the year to help offset some of the travel costs. In order to benefit from the profits of each fundraiser, full participation will be needed. One fundraiser will be done each year with proceeds staying in the gym. What to expect at our tryout Tryouts will consist of a variety of athletic ability evaluations such as endurance, strength, jump, tumbling and flexibility drills. Most importantly, we will be looking for athletes who demonstrate a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. These tryouts are done in a very fun, easy-going environment. Anything you need to know, you will be taught, and no experience is necessary. Athletes will be evaluated according to the USASF level guidelines (www.usasf.net). Try-outs are open to all parents, however, as we have limited viewing space, they are asked to limit the number of days they plan on attending in order to accommodate everyone. Tryout Process 1. Arrive on time with a completed waiver and registration form, 2. Wear shorts, t-shirts and athletic shoes. 3. Relax- it will be fun! Tryouts are structured like a regular practice. RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT ( AGREEMENT ) I authorize Dynamite Cheer All Stars and its representatives to consent to immediate injury treatment for my child when I cannot be reached to so consent. I also give Dynamite Cheer All Stars, and its representatives consent to administer the necessary emergency care to my child to stabilize and/or improve the current injury or condition that my child may have sustained during activities related to Dynamite Cheer All Stars instruction, practices, or performances. No prior determination of life threatening emergency or danger of serious permanent injury resulting from treatment need be made under this authorization. Exceptions to this authorization are as follows: Dynamite Cheer All Stars strive to provide a maximum in safety procedures and guidelines, and cannot assume responsibility for any accidents, injury, or illness that may occur. In consideration of participating with the Dynamite Cheer All Stars. I represent that I understand the nature of this Activity and that I am qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in such Activity. ALL SPORT, INCLUDING CHEERLEADING, HAS ITS RISKS I desire to voluntarily participate in cheerleading. I hereby acknowledge that I am aware of the risks and hazards associated with or related to cheerleading. The risks and hazards of cheerleading include, but are not limited to, injuries relating to: Executing strenuous and demanding physical techniques; Vigorous physical exertion, strenuous cardiovascular workouts, rapid movements and quick turns and stops; Exerting and stretching various muscle groups; Dryland training; Falling or colliding with the floor, mats, walls, stands, equipment or with other participants; Failing to properly use any piece of gymnastics equipment or from the mechanical failure of any piece of gymnastics equipment; Contacting or being struck by other participants (including spotters), spectators or equipment; Travel to and from competitive events and associated non-competitive events.
