Sophomores and Juniors who wish to take the PSAT/NMSQT can tell Mrs. Workman they wish to take the test. The cost is $16 and will be given at WHS on Oct. 10 th. Power Prep is offering an ACT prep strategies class. It will take place on Wednesday, Oct 24 th from 8:10-12:10 in Wamego. Also, juniors or seniors who have NEVER taken the ACT before will be able to have one free test on Feb. 20 th. The test will be given at Wabaunsee High School even! More info to follow on this later.

2 From Mrs. Breiner Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) The classes in the Family & Consumer Sciences Department include Human Growth & Development, Consumer & Personal Finance, Nutrition & Wellness, Culinary Essentials, Career & Life Planning, Intro to FCS and Career and Community Connections. Over 120 students are enrolled in one or more of the above classes for the 2018-2019 school year. Family, Career and Community Leaders of America has been very busy so far this school year. Our eight chapter officers are Kassidi Huff President, Kinsey Stuewe Vice President, Autymn Schreiner Secretary, Jessica Vanstory Treasurer, Alexis Hafenstine VP of Public Relations, Eleanor Badeker VP of Power of One, Kaytlyn Meseke Historian, and Laurel Barber StuCo Representative. At national competition, we had many of our students rank in the top 10 in the nation with one group getting 1 st in the nation for the 2 nd year in a row. In August, Kinsey Stuewe, a District D Officer, attended District D Officer training and then organized and presented at the FCCLA Summer Leadership Conference. Late August, two of our chapter members, Laurel Barber & Kaytlyn Meseke, who are members of the state Peer Ed Student Body Team, helped plan and presented at the Take Aim Conference. This past week we have had FCCLA Rush Week that was organized by Autymn Schreiner. On Monday we made decorations for the Alma Manor, Tuesday we wore red or white to school, Wednesday we had a fun Kahoot competition, Thursday we wore our FCCLA shirts, and Friday we served pizza at lunch to the students who have paid their dues. WE already have 14 individuals and teams signed up for STAR events and we also have students signed up to participate in the Knowledge Bowl. It s going to be a good year! FCCLA dues for the year are $25 and this fee covers national dues, state dues, district dues, and a chapter t shirt. It s a great leadership opportunity and I would encourage all students to take a look at the advantages FCCLA has to offer! - Alexis Hafenstine, FFCLA VP of Public Relations
