The Praise is for Allah azwj Lord azwj of the Worlds, and Blessing be upon our Chief Muhammad saww and his saww Purified Progeny asws, and greetings with abundant greetings. ب اب ف ض ل الد ع اء و ال ح ث ع ل ي ه Chapter 1 The merits of the supplication and the urging upon it ع ز و ج ل ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن ح م اد ب ن ع يس ى ع ن ح ر يز ع ن ز ر ار ة ع ن أ ب ي ج ع ف ر ( عليه السالم ) ق ال إ ن للا ي ق ول إ ن ال ذ ين ي س ت ك ب ر ون ع ن ع باد ت ي س ي د خ ل ون ج ه ن م داخ ر ين ق ال ه و الد ع اء و أ ف ض ل ال ع ب اد ة الد ع اء ق ل إ ن إ ب راه يم و ا ح ل يم ق ال ا و ا ه و الد ع اء. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad Bin Isa, from Hareyz, from Zurara, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja far asws having said: Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic is Saying [40:60] surely those who are too proud to worship Me shall soon enter Hell abased. It (worship) is the supplication, and the most superior of the (acts of) worship, is the supplication. I said, [9:114] most surely Ibrahim was very tender-hearted, forbearing. He asws said: His tender-heartedness, it is (a reference to) the supplication. 1 م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ى ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ع ن م ح م د ب ن إ س م اع يل و اب ن م ح ب وب ج م يعا ع ن ح ن ان ب ن س د ير ع ن أ ب يه ق ال ق ل ب ي ج ع ف ر ( عليه السالم ) أ ي ال ع ب اد ة أ ف ض ل ف ق ال م ا م ن ش ي ء أ ف ض ل ع ن د للا ع ز و ج ل م ن أ ن ي س ئ ل و ي ط ل ب م م ا ع ن د و م ا أ ح د أ ب غ ض إ ل ى للا ع ز و ج ل م م ن ي س ت ك ب ر ع ن ع ب اد ت ه و ل ي س أ ل م ا ع ن د. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Ismail and Ibn Mahboub, altogether from Hanan Bin Sadeyr, from his father who said, I said to Abu Ja far asws, Which of the (acts of) worship is most superior? So he asws said: There is none from the things more superior in the Presence of Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic that He azwj should be asked and sought from for what is with Him azwj. There is no one more Hateful to Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic than the one who is too arrogant from worshipping Him azwj and he does not ask for what is with Him azwj. 2 أ ب و ع ل ي ا ش ع ر ي ع ن م ح م د ب ن ع ب د ال ج ب ار ع ن ص ف و ان ع ن م ي س ر ب ن ع ب د ال ع ز يز ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ا ل ق ال ل ي ي ا م ي س ر اد ع و ل ت ق ل إ ن ا م ر ق د ف ر غ م ن ه إ ن ع ن د للا ع ز و ج ل م ن ز ل ة ل ت ن ال إ ل ب م س أ ل ة و ل و أ ن ع ب دا س د ف ا و ل م ي س أ ل ل م ي ع ط ش ي ئا ف س ل ت ع ط ي ا م ي س ر إ ن ه ل ي س م ن ب اب ي ق ر ع إ ل ي وش ك أ ن ي ف ت ح ل ص اح ب ه. Abu Ali Al Ashary, from Muhammad Bin Abdul Jabbar, from Safwan, from Muyassir Bin Abdul Aziz, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws, said, He asws said to me: O Muyassir! Supplicate and do not say that the matter has already been decided. Given a thing. Therefore ask, you will be Given. O Muyassir! There is no door which is knocked upon except it is imminent that it would be opened for its comer. 3 ح م ي د ب ن ز ي اد ع ن ال خ ش اب ع ن اب ن ب ق اح ع ن م ع اذ ع ن ع م ر و ب ن ج م ي ع ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال م ن ل م ي س أ ل للا ع ز و ج ل م ن ف ض ل ه ف ق د اف ت ق ر. Humeyd Bin Ziyad, from Al Khashhab, from Ibn Baqah, from Muaz, from Amro Bin Jumie, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: The one who does not ask Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic of His azwj Grace, so he would become poor. 4 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن ح م اد ب ن ع يس ى ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال س م ع ت ه ي ق ول اد ع و ل ت ق ل ق د ف ر غ م ن ع ز و ج ل ي ق ول إ ن ال ذ ين ي س ت ك ب ر ون ع ن ع باد ت ي س ي د خ ل ون ج ه ن م داخ ر ين و ق ا ل ا م ر ف إ ن الد ع اء ه و ال ع ب اد ة إ ن للا اد ع ون ي أ س ت ج ب ل ك م. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad Bin Isa, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws, said, I heard him asws saying: Supplicate and do not say that the matter has already been decided, for the supplication, it is the worship. And Said [40:60] Call upon Me, I will Answer you. 5 أ ب و ع ل ي ا ش ع ر ي ع ن م ح م د ب ن ع ب د ال ج ب ار ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ن ج ر ان ع ن س ي ف الت م ار ق ال س م ع أ ب ا ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ي ق ول ع ل ي ك م ب الد ع اء ف إ ن ك م ل ت ق ر ب ون ب م ث ل ه و ل ت ت ر ك وا ص غ ير ة ل ص غ ر ه ا أ ن ت د ع وا ب ه ا إ ن ص اح ب الص غ ار ه و ص اح ب ال ك ب ار. Abu Ali Al Ashary, from Muhammad Bin Abdul Jabbar, from Ibn Abu Najran, from Sayf Al Tammar who said, I heard Abu Abdullah asws saying: It is upon you to supplicate as you will not get closer (to Allah azwj ) with anything similar to it, nor should you neglect supplicating for a small (thing) due to its smallness. He azwj is the Owner of the small as well as the big (things). 6 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ب ن ع يس ى ع ن ال ح س ي ن ب ن س ع يد ع ن الن ض ر ب ن س و ي د ع ن ال ق اس م ب ن س ل ي م ا ن ع ن ع ب ي د ب ن ز ر ار ة ع ن أ ب يه ع ن ر ج ل ق ال ق ال أ ب و ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) الد ع اء ه و ال ع ب اد ة ال ت ي ق ال للا ع ز و ج ل إ ن ال ذ ي ن ع ز و ج ل و ل ت ق ل إ ن ا م ر ق د ف ر غ م ن ه ي س ت ك ب ر ون ع ن ع باد ت ي ا ل ي ة اد ع للا A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Al Husayn Bin Saeed, from Al Nazar Bin Suweyd, from Al Qasim Bin Suleyman, from Ubeyd Bin Zurara, from his father, from a man who said, Abu Abdullah asws said: The supplication, it is the worship which Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic Spoke of [40:60] surely those who are too proud to worship Me the Verse. ق ال ز ر ار ة إ ن م ا ي ع ن ي ل ي م ن ع ك إ يم ان ك ب ال ق ض اء و ال ق د ر أ ن ت ب ال غ ب الد ع اء و ت ج ت ه د ف يه أ و ك م ا ق ال. Zurara (the narrator) said, But rather, it means that your belief in the Ordainment and the Pre-determination whould not prevent you that you should speak with the supplication and strive in his, or just as he asws said. 7 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن س ه ل ب ن ز ي اد ع ن ج ع ف ر ب ن م ح م د ا ش ع ر ي ع ن اب ن ال ق د اح ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ق ا ل أ م ير ال م ؤ م ن ين ( عليه السالم ) أ ح ب ا ع م ال إ ل ى للا ع ز و ج ل ف ي ا ر ض الد ع اء و أ ف ض ل ال ع ب اد ة ال ع ف اف ق ال و ك ا ن أ م ير ال م ؤ م ن ين ( عليه السالم ) ر ج ال د ع اء. A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ja far Bin Muhammad Al Ashary, from Ibn Al Qaddah, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: Amir Al-Momineen asws said: The most Beloved of the deeds to Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic in the earth, is the supplication, and the most superior of the (acts of) worship is the chastity. He asws said: And Amir Al-Momineen asws was a (frequently) supplicating person. 8 Chapter 2 The supplication is a weapon of the Momin ب اب أ ن الد ع اء س ال ح ال م ؤ م ن ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ب ن خ ال د ع ن أ ب يه ع ن ف ض ال ة ب ن أ ي وب ع ن الس ك ون ي ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ق ال ر س ول للا ( صلى للا عليه وآله ) الد ع اء س ال ح ال م ؤ م ن و ع م ود الد ين و ن ور الس م او ا و ا ر ض. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from his father, from Fazalat Bin Ayoub, from Al Sakuny, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: Rasool-Allah saww said: The supplication is a weapon of the Momin and a pillar of the Religion, and a Light of the skies and the earth. 9 س ن اد ق ال ق ال أ م ير ال م ؤ م ن ين ( عليه السالم ) الد ع اء م ف ات يح الن ج اح و م ق ال يد ال ف ال ح و خ ي ر الد ع اء م ا ص د ر ع ن و ب ه ذ ا ا ل خ ال ص ي ك ون ال خ ال ص ف إ ذ ا اش ت د ال ف ز ع ف إ ل ى للا ال م ف ز ع. ص د ر ن ق ي و ق ل ب ت ق ي و ف ي ال م ن اج اة س ب ب الن ج اة و ب ا ل And by this chain, said: The supplications are the keys to achievement and collars of the success, and the best of the supplication is what is generated by a clean chest and a fearful heart. 10 He asws و ب إ س ن اد ق ال ق ال الن ب ي ( صلى للا عليه وآله ) أ ل أ د ل ك م ع ل ى س ال ح ي ن ج يك م م ن أ ع د ائ ك م و ي د ر أ ر ز اق ك م ق ال وا ب ل ى ق ا ل ت د ع ون ر ب ك م ب الل ي ل و الن ه ار ف إ ن س ال ح ال م ؤ م ن الد ع اء. He asws said: The Prophet saww said: Indeed! Shall I saww point you all to a weapon to save you from your enemies and generate your sustenance? So they said, Yes. He saww said: You should be supplicating to your Lord azwj by the night and the day, for a weapon of the Believers, it is the supplication. 11 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن س ه ل ب ن ز ي اد ع ن ج ع ف ر ب ن م ح م د ا ش ع ر ي ع ن اب ن ال ق د اح ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ق ا ل أ م ير ال م ؤ م ن ين ( عليه السالم ) الد ع اء ت ر س ال م ؤ م ن و م ت ى ت ك ث ر ق ر ع ال ب اب ي ف ت ح ل ك. A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ja far Bin Muhammad Al Ashary, from Ibn Al Qaddah, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: Amir Al-Momineen asws said: The supplication is a shield of the Momin, and when the door is knocked upon frequently, it would be opened for you. 12 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ع ن اب ن ف ض ال ع ن ب ع ض أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن الر ض ا ( عليه السالم ) أ ن ه ك ان ي ق و ل ص ح اب ه ع ل ي ك م ب س ال ح ا ن ب ي اء ف ق يل و م ا س ال ح ا ن ب ي اء ق ال الد ع اء. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibm Fazzal, from one of our companions, (It has been narrated) from Al-Reza asws having frequently said to his asws companions: It is upon you to be with a weapon of the Prophets as. So it was said, What is a weapon of the Prophets as? He asws said: The supplication. 13 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن ع ب د للا ب ن ال م غ ير ة ع ن أ ب ي س ع يد ال ب ج ل ي ق ال ق ال أ ب و ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) إ ن الد ع اء أ ن ف ذ م ن الس ن ان. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Abdullah Bin Al Mugheira, from Abu Saeed Al Bajaly who said, Abu Abdullah asws said: The supplication is more piercing than the spear-heads. 14 ع ن ه ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن ع ب د للا ب ن س ن ان ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال الد ع اء أ ن ف ذ م ن الس ن ان ال ح د يد. ب اب أ ن الد ع اء ي ر د ال ب ال ء و ال ق ض اء Chapter 3 The supplication can repel the affliction and the Ordainment ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن ح م اد ب ن ع ث م ان ق ال س م ع ت ه ي ق ول إ ن الس ل ك و ق د أ ب ر م إ ب ر اما. الد ع اء ي ر د ال ق ض اء ي ن ق ض ه ك م ا ي ن ق ض Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hammad Bin Usman who said, I heard him asws saying: The supplication repels the Ordainment and breaks it just as the rope does, and although it has been twirled and twisted (strong). 16 ع ن ه ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن ه ش ام ب ن س ال م ع ن ع م ر ب ن ي ز يد ق ال س م ع أ ب ا ال ح س ن ( عليه السالم ) ي ق ول إ ن الد ع اء ي ر د م ا ق د ق د ر و م ا ل م ي ق د ر ق ل و م ا ق د ق د ر ع ر ف ت ه ف م ا ل م ي ق د ر ق ال ح ت ى ل ي ك ون. From him, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hisham Bin Salim, from Umar Bin Yazeed who said, I heard Abu Al-Hassan asws saying: The supplication repels what has been Predetermined and what has not been Pre-determined. I said, And what has been Predetermined, I recognise it, so what has not been Pre-determined? He asws said: Until it does not happen. 17 أ ب و ع ل ي ا ش ع ر ي ع ن م ح م د ب ن ع ب د ال ج ب ار ع ن ص ف و ان ع ن ب س ط ام الز ي ا الد ع اء ي ر د ال ق ض اء و ق د ن ز ل م ن الس م اء و ق د أ ب ر م إ ب ر اما. ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال إ ن Abu Ali Al Ashary, from Muhammad Bin Abdul Jabbar, from Safwan, from Bistam Al Zayyat, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: A supplication repels the Pre-determined (matters) and although it has descended from the sky and has been strengthened with a strengthening. 18 م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ى ع ن م ح م د ب ن ع يس ى ع ن أ ب ي ه م ام إ س م اع يل ب ن ه م ام ع ن الر ض ا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ق ال ع ل ي ب ن ال ح س ي ن ( عليه السالم ) إ ن الد ع اء و ال ب ال ء ل ي ت ر اف ق ان إ ل ى ي و م ال ق ي ام ة إ ن الد ع اء ل ي ر د ال ب ال ء و ق د أ ب ر م إ ب ر اما. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Isa, from Abu Hammam Ismail Bin Hammad, (It has been narrated) from Al-Reza asws having said: Ali asws Bin Al Husayn asws said: The supplication and the affliction would both be together up to the Day of Judgment. A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Al Hassan Bin Ali Al Washa, (It has been narrated) from Abu Al-Hassan asws having said: Ali asws Bin Al-Husayn asws was saying: The supplication repels the affliction, the descended one and what has not descended yet. 20 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن ح م اد ب ن ع يس ى ع ن ح ر يز ع ن ز ر ار ة ع ن أ ب ي ج ع ف ر ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ق ال ل ي أ ل أ د ل ك ع ل ى ش ي ء ل م ي س ت ث ن ف يه ر س ول للا ( صلى للا عليه وآله ) ق ل ب ل ى ق ا ل الد ع اء ي ر د ال ق ض اء و ق د أ ب ر م إ ب ر اما و ض م أ ص اب ع ه. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad Bin Isa, from Hareyz, from Zurara, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja far asws having said: He asws said to me: Shall I asws point you to something which Rasool-Allah azwj did not make an exclusion in it? I said, Yes. Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Al Washha, from Abdullah Bin Sinan who said, I heard Abu Abdullah asws saying: A supplication repels the Ordained matter what has been strengthened with a strengthening, therefore frequent from the supplications for these are the keys to every Mercy and an achievement for every need, and whatever is with Allah azwj cannot be attained except by the supplication; and there is no door which is frequently knocked upon except that it is imminent that it would be opened for its comer. 22 م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ى ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ب ن ع يس ى ع ن اب ن م ح ب وب ع ن أ ب ي و ل د ق ال ق ال أ ب و ال ح س ن م وس ى ( عليه السالم ) ع ل ي ك م ب الد ع اء ف إ ن الد ع اء ل ل و الط ل ب إ ل ى للا ي ر د ال ب ال ء و ق د ق د ر و ق ض ي و ل م ي ب ق إ ل إ م ض اؤ ف إ ذ ا د ع ي للا ع ز و ج ل و س ئ ل ص ر ف ال ب ال ء ص ر ف ة. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ibn Mahboub, from Abu Wallad who said, Abu Al-Hassan Musa asws said: Upon you is with the supplication, for the supplicating to Allah azwj and seeking to Allah azwj repels the affliction and although it has been Predetermined and there does not remain except for its coming to pass. Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, raising it, from Is haq Bin Ammar who said, Abu Abdullah asws said: Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic Repels due to the supplication, the matter which He azwj Knows that it would be supplicated for, so He azwj would Answer; and if the servant does not supplicate in accordance to that, he would be hit from it (the affliction) what would bend his face to the earth (to humiliate him). 24 ب اب أ ن الد ع اء ش ف اء م ن ك ل د اء Chapter 4 The supplication is a healing from every illness ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن أ س ب اط ب ن س ال م ع ن ع ال ء ب ن ك ام ل ق ال ) ع ل ي ك ب الد ع اء ف إ ن ه ش ف اء م ن ك ل د اء. ق ال ل ي أ ب و ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Asbaat Bin Saalim, from Ala a Bin Kaamil who said, Abu Abdullah asws said to me: It is upon you with the supplication, for it is a healing from every illness. 25 ب اب أ ن م ن د ع ا اس ت ج يب ل ه Chapter 5 The one who supplicates, it would be Answered for him م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ى ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ب ن ع يس ى ع ن ال ح س ن ب ن ع ل ي ع ن ع ب د للا ب ن م ي م ون ال ق د اح ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه ج اب ة ك م ا أ ن الس ح اب ك ه ف ال م ط ر. السالم ) ق ال الد ع اء ك ه ف ا ل Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin isa, from Al Hassan Bin Ali, from Abdullah Bin Maymoun Al Qaddah, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: The supplication and pleading before Allah for help is the means of its acceptance just as clouds are means of rain. 26 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن س ه ل ب ن ز ي اد ع ن ج ع ف ر ب ن م ح م د ا ش ع ر ي ع ن اب ن ال ق د اح ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال م ا أ ب ر ز ع ب د ي د إ ل ى للا ال ع ز يز ال ج ب ار إ ل اس ت ح ي ا للا ع ز و ج ل أ ن ي ر د ه ا ص ف را ح ت ى ي ج ع ل ف يه ا م ن ف ض ل ر حم ت ه م ا ي ش ا ء ف إ ذ ا د ع ا أ ح د ك م ف ال ي ر د ي د ح ت ى ي م س ح ع ل ى و ج ه ه و ر أ س ه. A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ja far Bin Muhammad Al Ashary, from Ibn Al Qaddah, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: A servant would not bring out his hands to Allah azwj, the Strong, the Compeller, except that Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic would be too Embarrassed that He azwj returns his hand empty until He azwj Makes it to be in it from the Grace of His azwj Mercy, whatever He azwj so Desires to. whenever one of you supplicates, so he should not return his hand until he has wiped it upon his face and his head. 27 Chapter 6 Inspiration for the supplication ب اب إ ل ه ام الد ع اء ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن ه ش ام ب ن س ال م ق ال ق ال أ ب و ع ب د للا ( ال ب ال ء م ن ق ص ر ق ل ن ا ل ق ال إ ذ ا أ ل ه م أ ح د ك م الد ع اء ع ن د ال ب ال ء ف اع ل م وا أ ن ال ب ال ء ق ص ير. عليه السالم ) ه ل ت ع ر ف ون ط و ل Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hisham Bin Salim who said, Abu Abdullah asws said: Are you recognising the lengthening of the affliction from its shortening? Muhamad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ibn Mahboub, from Abu Wallad who said, Abu Al-Hassan Musa asws said: There is none from an affliction descending upon a Momin servant, so Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic Inspires him for the supplication, except that, that affliction would be Removed imminently; and there is none from an affliction descending upon a Momin servant, so he withholds from the supplication, except that, that affliction would be prolonged. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad Bin Isa, from Ibn Sinan, from Anbasa, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws : The one who is fearful from an affliction hitting him, so he should precede regarding it with the supplication. Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic would not Show him the affliction, ever! 31 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ب ن خ ال د ع ن إ س م اع يل ب ن م ه ر ان ع ن م ن ص ور ب ن ي ون س ع ن ه ار ون ب ن خ ار ج ة ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال إ ن الد ع اء ف ي الر خ اء ي س ت خ ر ج ال ح و ائ ج ف ي ال ب ال ء. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Ismail Bin Mihran, from Mansour Bin Yunus, from Haroun Bin Kharija, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: The supplication during the prosperity are instrumental for what one needs in the time of afflictions. 32 ع ن ه ع ن ع ث م ان ب ن ع يس ى ع ن س م اع ة ق ال ق ال أ ب و ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) م ن س ر أ ن ي س ت ج اب ل ه ف ي الش د ة ف ل ي ك ث ر الد ع ا ء ف ي الر خ اء. He asws said: So the clouds dispersed, and they said, O Rasool-Allah saww! You saww supplicated for the rain for us but we were not quenched, then you saww supplicated for the rain for us, so we were quenched. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa and Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, altogether from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hisham Bin Salim and Hafs Bin Al Bakhtary and others, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: A servant, when he makes haste (for its Answer), so he stands for his need, Allah azwj Blessed and High is Saying: Does My azwj servant not know that I azwj am Allah azwj Who Fulfils the needs?. 43 م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ى ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن س ي ف ب ن ع م ير ة ع ن م ح م د ب ن م ر و ان ع ن ال و ل يد ب ن ع ق ب ة ال ه ج ر ي ق ال س م ع أ ب ا ج ع ف ر ( عليه السالم ) ي ق ول و للا ل ي ل ح ع ب د م ؤ م ن ع ل ى للا ع ز و ج ل ف ي ح اج ت ه إ ل ق ض اه ا ل ه. From him, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Al Hajjal, from Hassan, from Abu Al Sabbah, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic Dislikes the people insisting before one another for help but He azwj Loves that for Himself azwj that He azwj should be asked (from), and He azwj be sought for what is with Him azwj. 45 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن ح س ي ن ا ح م س ي ع ن ر ج ل ع ن أ ب ي ج ع ف ر ي ل ح ع ب د ع ل ى للا ع ز و ج ل إ ل اس ت ج اب للا ل ه. ( عليه السالم ) ق ا ل ل و للا ل Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Husayn Al Ahmasy, from a man, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja far asws having said: No, by Allah azwj! No servant (of Allah azwj ) would insist upon Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic except Allah azwj would Answer for him. 46 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن س ه ل ب ن ز ي اد ع ن ج ع ف ر ب ن م ح م د ا ش ع ر ي ع ن اب ن ال ق د اح ع ن أ ب ي ع بد للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ق ا ل ر س ول للا ( صلى للا عليه وآله ) ر ح م للا ع ب دا ط ل ب م ن للا ع ز و ج ل ح اج ة ف أ ل ح ف ي الد ع اء اس ت ج يب ل ه أ و ل م ي س ت ج ب ل ه و ت ال ه ذ ا ل ي ة و أ د ع وا ر ب ي ع سى أ ل أ ك ون ب د عاء ر ب ي ش ق ي ا. A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ja far Bin Muhammad Al Ashary, from Ibn Al Qaddah, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: Rasool-Allah saww said: May Allah azwj be Merciful upon a servant who seeks a need from Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic, so he is insistent in the supplication, whether is it Answered for him or not Answered for him ; and he asws recited this Verse [19:48] And I will withdraw from you and what you call on besides Allah, and I will call upon my Lord, perhaps I shall not remain unblessed in calling upon my Lord. 47 Chapter 11 Specifying the need during the supplication ب اب ت س م ي ة ال ح اج ة ف ي الد ع اء ت ب ار ك و ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ال ف ر اء ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال إ ن للا ت ع ال ى ي ع ل م م ا ي ر يد ال ع ب د إ ذ ا د ع ا و ل ك ن ه ي ح ب أ ن ت ب ث إ ل ي ه ال ح و ائ ج ف إ ذ ا د ع و ف س م ح اج ت ك. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Abu Abdullah Al Fara a, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: Allah azwj Blessed and High Knows what the servant wants when he supplicates to Him azwj, but He azwj Loves it that the need be transmitted to Him azwj. And in another Hadeeth, he asws said: Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic Knows your need and what you want, but He azwj Loves it that the need be transmitted to Him azwj. 48 Chapter 12 Concealment of the supplication ب اب إ خ ف اء الد ع اء م ح م د ب ن ي ح ي ى ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ب ن ع يس ى ع ن أ ب ي ه م ام إ س م اع يل ب ن ه م ام ع ن أ ب ي ال ح س ن الر ض ا ( عليه السالم ) ق ا ل د ع و ة ال ع ب د س را د ع و ة و اح د ة ت ع د ل س ب ع ين د ع و ة ع ال ن ي ة. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Abu Hammam Ismail Bin Hammam, (It has been narrated) from Abu Al-Hassan Al-Reza asws having said: One secretive supplication of the servant equates to seventy supplications publicly. و ف ي ر و اي ة أ خ ر ى د ع و ة ت خ ف يه ا أ ف ض ل ع ن د للا م ن س ب ع ين د ع و ة ت ظ ه ر ه ا. Abu Abdullah asws said: A supplication is Answered in four places during Al-Witr, and after Al-Fajr, and after Al-Zohr and after Al-Maghrib (Salāts). 51 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن الن و ف ل ي ع ن الس ك ون ي ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ق ال أ م ير ال م ؤ م ن ين ( عليه السالم ) اغ ت ن م وا الد ع اء ع ن د أ ر ب ع ع ن د ق ر اء ة ال ق ر آن و ع ن د ا ذ ان و ع ن د ن ز ول ال غ ي ث و ع ن د ال ت ق اء الص ف ي ن ل لش ه اد ة. Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Ahmad Bin Is haq, from Sa dan Bin Muslim, from Muawiya Bin Ammar, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: It was so that whenever my asws father asws sought the need, sought it during the decline of the sun (at midday). So whenever he asws intended that, he asws preceded it with something and gave it in charity with it, and smelt something from the perfume, and went to the Masjid and supplicated regarding his asws need with whatever he asws so desired to. 56 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ب ن خ ال د ع ن ع ل ي ب ن ح د يد ر ف ع ه إ ل ى أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال إ ذ ا اق ش ع ر ج ل د ك و د م ع ع ي ن اك ف د ون ك د ون ك ف ق د ق ص د ق ص د ك. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Ali Bin Hadeed, (It has been narrated) raising it to Abu Abdullah asws having said: Whenever the hairs on you skin stand up and your eyes are filled with tears, so supplicate, your supplication, for your purpose is on its way (to be fulfilled). ق ال و ر و ا م ح م د ب ن إ س م اع يل ع ن أ ب ي إ س م اع يل الس ر اج ع ن م ح م د ب ن أ ب ي ح م ز ة ع ن س ع يد م ث ل ه. He (the narrator) said, And Muhammad Bin Ismail reported it from Abu Ismail Al Sarraj, from Muhammad Bin Abu Hamza, from Saeed smilar to it. 57 ع ن ه ع ن ال ج ام ور ان ي ع ن ال ح س ن ب ن ع ل ي ب ن أ ب ي ح م ز ة ع ن ص ن د ل ع ن أ ب ي الص ب اح ال ك ن ان ي ع ن أ ب ي ج ع ف ر ( عليه السالم ع ز و ج ل ي ح ب م ن ع ب اد ال م ؤ م ن ين ك ل ع ب د د ع اء ف ع ل ي ك م ب الد ع اء ف ي الس ح ر إ ل ى ط ل وع الش م س ف إ ن ه ا س اع ة ) ق ال إ ن للا ت ف ت ح ف يه ا أ ب و اب الس م اء و ت ق س م ف يه ا ا ر ز اق و ت ق ض ى ف يه ا ال ح و ائ ج ال ع ظ ام. From him, from Al Jamourany, from Al Hassan Bin Ali Bin Abu Hamza, from Sandal, from Abu Al Sabbah, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja far asws having said: Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic Loves from the Momineen of His azwj servant, every servant who supplicates. I heard Abu Abdullah asws saying: During the night there is a particular time in which no Muslim servant would be harmonious with it, then prays Salāt and supplicates to Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic therein except that it would be Answered for him during every night. I said, May Allah azwj Keep you asws well! And which time it is from the night? He asws said: When half the night passes by, and it is the first sixth from the first half. 59 ب اب الر غ ب ة و الر ه ب ة و الت ض ر ع و الت ب ت ل و ا ل ب ت ه ال و ا ل س ت ع اذ ة و ال م س أ ل ة Chapter 14 The desire, and the awe, and the beseeching, and the devotion, and the invocation, and the seeking of Refuge, and the asking ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح م د ب ن م ح م د ب ن خ ال د ع ن إ س م اع يل ب ن م ه ر ان ع ن س ي ف ب ن ع م ير ة ع ن أ ب ي إ س ح اق ع ن أ ب ي ع ب د للا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال الر غ ب ة أ ن ت س ت ق ب ل ب ب ط ن ك ف ي ك إ ل ى الس م اء و الر ه ب ة أ ن ت ج ع ل ظ ه ر ك ف ي ك إ ل ى الس م ا ء A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Ismail Bin Mihran, from Sayf Bin Ameyra, from Abu Is haq, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: The desire ( (الر غ ب ة is that you should face with the belly (front) of your palms towards the sky; and the awe sky. is that you make the back of your palms towards the (الر ه ب ة ( و ق و ل ه و ت ب ت ل إ ل ي ه ت ب ت يال ق ال الد ع اء ب إ ص ب ع و اح د ة ت ش ير ب ه ا و الت ض ر ع ت ش ير ب إ ص ب ع ي ك و ت ح ر ك ه م ا و ا ل ب ت ه ال ر ف ع ال ي د ي ن و ت م د ه م ا و ذ ل ك ع ن د الد م ع ة ث م اد ع. And (about) His azwj Words [73:8] and devote yourself to Him with your devotion, he asws said: The supplication with one finger gesturing with it; and the beseeching is gesturing with your index finger and moving it around; and the invocation (الت ض ر ع ( is raising of the hands and extending them, and that is during the tears, then (ا ل ب ت ه ال ( supplicating. 60 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع م ي ر ع ن أ ب ي أ ي وب ع ن م ح م د ب ن م س ل م ق ال س أ ل أ ب ا ج ع ف ر ( عليه السالم ) ع ن ق و ل للا ع ز و ج ل ف م ا اس ت كان وا ل ر ب ه م و ما ي ت ض ر ع ون ف ق ال ا ل س ت ك ان ة ه و ال خ ض وع و الت ض ر ع ه و ر ف ع ال ي د ي ن و الت ض ر ع ب ه م ا. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Abu Ayoub, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said, I asked Abu Ja far asws about the Words of Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic [23:76] but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor were they humbling themselves. (Do it) with your asws right hand. So I asws said: O servant of Allah azwj! For Allah azwj Blessed and High there is a Right upon this like His azwj Right upon this. و ق ال الر غ ب ة ت ب س ط ي د ي ك و ت ظ ه ر ب اط ن ه م ا و الر ه ب ة ت ب س ط ي د ي ك و ت ظ ه ر ظ ه ر ه م ا و الت ض ر ع ت ح ر ك الس ب اب ة ال ي م ن ى ي م ينا و ش م ا ل و الت ب ت ل ت ح ر ك الس ب اب ة ال ي س ر ى ت ر ف ع ه ا ف ي الس م اء ر س ال و ت ض ع ه ا و ا ل ب ت ه ال ت ب س ط ي د ي ك و ذ ر اع ي ك إ ل ى الس م اء و ا ل ب ت ه ال ح ين ت ر ى أ س ب اب ال ب ك اء.
