Merits of This is a meccan sūrah. The surah that opens with the edifying question regarding human awareness of the coming of a sure cataclysmic event it calls The Enveloper. It takes its name from the enveloper (al-ghāshiyah) mentioned in verse 1. The surah serves to warn the disbelievers, encourage the Prophet (s.a.w.) and the believers, and absolve him of responsibility for the disbelievers. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) that the one who recites this surah will not face difficulty in the accounting of deeds on the Day of Judgement and Allah (s.w.t.) will show Mercy to him and save him from Jahannam. Reciting this surah near a baby removes fright from him and stops his crying. Imam Ali (a.s.) has said that if this surah is recited over a part of the body which is paining, the pain will go away and if recited over food items, it removes any bad effects of that food.

ب س م الل ي الر ح الر ح م ن م In the Name of Allāh, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. غظیم اور دائمی رحمج ں هام سے کے والے خدا अल र ह क न भ स ज फड क ऩ र औय अत मन त दम व न ह bi-smi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīmi
اك ح ا ث د ح ال غ اش ة ١ ل Did you receive the account of the Enveloper? کیا ثمہیں ڈھاهپ لیےن والی قیامت کی بات مػل م ےہ क म त म ह उस छ ज न व र क ख फय ऩह च ह? hal ˈatāka ḥadīṯu l-ġāšiyati
و ج ى م ئ ذ خ اش ػ ة ٢ Some faces on that day will be humbled, اس دن بہت سے چہرے ذلیل اور رس ا ہ ں گے उस ददन ककतन ह च हय गगय ह ए ह ग, wuǧūhun yawmaˈiḏin ḫāšiʿatun
اص ب ة غ ام ل ة ه ٣ wrought-up and weary: کر هے محوت والے ثھکے ہ ئے कद न ऩरयश रभ भ ऩड, थक -ह य ʿāmilatun nāṣibatun
ث ص ل ه ار ا ح ام ة ٤ they will enter a scorching fire, دہک جی ہ ئی ا گ میں داخل ہ ں گے दहकत आग भ प रव श कय ग taṣlā nāran ḥāmiyatan
ث س ق م ن غ ن ا ه ة ٥ and made to drink from a boiling spring. اهہیں کھ لےت ہ ئے پاهی کے چشمہ سے سیراب کیا جائے گا ख रत ह ए स र त स पऩए ग, tusqā min ʿaynin ˈāniyatin
م ل س ل ػ ام ط إ ل م ن ض ر ع ٦ They will have no food except cactus, ک ئی کے لےئ ان کھاها س ائے خادار جھاڑی کے هہ ہ گا उनक लरए क ई ख न न ह ग लसव म एक प रक य क ज य क, laysa lahum ṭaʿāmun ˈillā min ḍarīʿin
س م ن و ل غ و م ن ج ع ٧ ل neither nourishing, nor availing against hunger. هہ ج م ٹائی پیدا کرسکے اور بھ ک کے هہ ا سکے کام ज न ऩ ष ट कय औय न ब ख लभट ए lā yusminu wa-lā yuġnī min ǧūʿin
و ج ى م ئ ذ ه اغ م ة ٨ Some faces on that day will be joyous, اور کچھ چہرے ثر و ثازہ ہ ں گے उस ददन ककतन ह च हय प रप ल ल रत औय स म म ह ग, wuǧūhun yawmaˈiḏin nāʿimatun
س ػ ا ر اض ة ٩ ل pleased with their endeavour; اپوی محوت و ریاضت سے خ ش अऩन प रम स ऩय प रसन न, li-saʿyihā rāḍiyatun
ف ج و ة غ ال ة ١٠ in a lofty paradise, بلود ثرین جوت میں उच च जन नत भ, fī ǧannatin ʿāliyatin
س م ع ف ا ل غ ة ١١ ل ث wherein they will not hear any vain talk. جہاں اواز ک ئی لغ هہ سوائی دے ल जसभ क ई व मथथ फ त न स न ग lā tasmaʿu fīhā lāġiyatan
ف ا غ ن ج ار ة ١٢ In it there is a flowing spring وہاں چشےم جاری ہ ں گے उसभ स र त प रव दहत ह ग, fīhā ʿaynun ǧāriyatun
ف ا س ر ر م ر ف غ ة ١٣ and in it there are raised couches, وہاں اوهچے اوهچے ثخت ہ ں گے उसभ ऊ च -ऊ च भसनद ह ग, fīhā sururun marfūʿatun
اب م ض غ ة ١٤ و ا ك and goblets set, اور اطراف میں رکھے ہ ئے پیالے ہ ں گے प म र ढ ग स यख ह ग, wa-ˈakwābun mawḍūʿatun
و ه م ار ق م ص ف ف ة ١٥ and cushions laid out in an array, اور قطار سے لگے ہ ئے گاؤ ثکیے ہ ں گے क रभ स ग व तककए रग ह ग, wa-namāriqu maṣfūfatun
ة و ز ر اب م ب د خ ١٦ and carpets spread out. اور بچھی ہ ئی بہجرین مسودیں ہ ں گی औय हय ओय क र न बफछ ह ग wa-zarābiyyu mabṯūṯatun
ك ف خ ل ق ت ١٧ وظ ر ون إ ل ا ل ب ل ا ف ل Do they not observe the camel, [to see] how she has been created? یہ کیا ل گ اوهٹ کی طرف هہیں دیکھےت ہیں اسے کہ کس طرح گیا ےہ کیا پیدا कपय क म व ऊ ट क ओय नह द खत कक क स फन म गम? ˈa-fa-lā yanẓurūna ˈilā l-ˈibili kayfa ḫuliqat
ف ر و إ ل الس م اء ك ف ػ ت ١٨ and the sky, how it has been raised? کس طرح ک ا سمان اور گیا ےہ کیا بلود औय आक श क ओय कक क स ऊ च ककम गम? wa-ˈilā s-samāˈi kayfa rufiʿat
ف ج ب ال ك و إ ل ال ص ب ت ه ١٩ and the mountains, how they have been set? اور پہاڑ ک کس طرح هصب کیا گیا ےہ औय ऩह ड क ओय कक क स खड ककए गए? wa-ˈilā l-ǧibāli kayfa nuṣibat
ف س ر ض ك و إ ل ا ل ط ح ت ٢٠ and the earth, how it has been surfaced? کس طرح ک زمین اور بچھایا گیا ےہ औय धयत क ओय कक क स बफछ ई गई? wa-ˈilā l-ˈarḍi kayfa suṭiḥat
هت م ذ ك ر ٢١ ف ذ ك ر إ ه م ا ا So admonish for you are only an admonisher, هصیحت ثم لہذا کر ثے رہ کہ ثم صرف هصیحت کر هے والے ہ अच छ त नस हत कय! त भ त फस एक नस हत कयन व र ह fa-ḏakkir ˈinnamā ˈanta muḏakkirun
ل س ت غ ل م ب م ص ط ر ٢٢ and not a taskmaster over them ثم ان پر مسلط اور ان کے ذمہ دار هہیں ہ त भ उनऩय क ई दय ग नह ह lasta ʿalayhim bi-muṣayṭirin
م ف ر ٢٣ و ك ث ل ن إ ل except him who turns back and disbelieves. اور پھیر لے موھ مگر ج کافر ہ جائے ककन त ल जस ककस न भ ह प य औय इनक य ककम, ˈillā man tawallā wa-kafara
٢٤ ب ي ف ػ ي ذ الل ب ر ك ال ػ ذ اب ا ل Him Allah will punish with the greatest punishment. ث خدا اسے بہت بڑے غذاب میں مبج ل کرے گا त अल र ह उस फड म तन द ग fa-yuʿaḏḏibuhu llāhu l-ʿaḏāba l-ˈakbara
إ ن إ ل و ا إ اب م ٢٥ Indeed to Us will be their return. پھر ہماری ہی طرف ان سب کی بازگشت ےہ ननस स द ह हभ य ओय ह ह उनक र टन, ˈinna ˈilaynā ˈiyābahum
و خ م إ ن غ ل ا ح س اب م ٢٦ Then, indeed, their reckoning will lie with Us. اور ہمارے ہی ذمہ ان سب کا حساب ےہ कपय हभ य ह ल ज म भ ह उनक दहस फ र न ṯumma ˈinna ʿalaynā ḥisābahum
