The Bats finished out the seven-gamer with a 3-4 record, splitting a four-game series in Syracuse before dropping two of three in Pawtucket. LOU was outscored 18-15 in the seven games, after coming off of a seven game homestand where they were outscored 45-20. The Bats fall to 11-8 in series finales on the season, and 7-3 in road series finales. They lost their first road trip since they went 5-6 on a trip to Indianapolis, Toledo, and Columbus that ranged from May 6-15. ANOTHER LONG REED: Bats left-hander Cody Reed (5-3, 3.38) faced off against Syracuse righty Jaron Long (0-0, 4.50) back on June 8 in Syracuse, with Reed earning the victory, his team-leading fifth of the season. On 6/8, he went seven innings, gave up three earned runs on 10 hits, while walking one and striking out six. Both starters gave up a pair of home runs, but Louisville scored a couple late runs off the Chiefs bullpen to give the Bats a 5-3 victory. LOU s Scott Schebler and Juan Perez each hit solo home runs of Jaron Long. TRANSACTIONS: Cincinnati Reds right-hander Michael Lorenzen will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Monday. He started six games for Louisville in 2015, going 4-2 with a 1.88 ERA. He appeared in 27 games (21 starts) with the Reds last season, going 4-9 with a 5.40 ERA in 113.1 big league innings in his rookie season. The righty is coming back from an elbow strain. HOMEWARD BOUND: The Bats begin a six-game homestand on May, with three games vs. the Syracuse Chiefs and three vs. the Pawtucket Red Sox, with an off-day on Thursday lodged in between. The Bats will look replicate at LSF what they ve done on the road; they are 21-13 on the road with a.618 road winning percentage, both tops in the IL. Meanwhile, they re only 11-18 in their home ballpark, tied for the least amount of home wins with Norfolk. SUNDAY S PITCHER S DUEL: The series finale between Louisville and Pawtucket included just one total run and seven total hits. The Bats out-hit the PawSox four to three, but couldn t muster up a run to win the ballgame, falling to 26-9 on the season when outhitting their opponent. Right-hander Keyvius Sampson (2-2, 1.83) went six innings, giving up an earned run on two hits, walking and striking out three. RHP Drew Hayes pitched two scoreless innings of relief, but the Bats offense didn t get a lot of chances. They only had one runner in scoring position all game, when Juan Perez stole second base after getting hit by a pitch in the eighth inning. BULLPEN STREAK EXTENDED: Drew Hayes kept the LOU bullpen scoreless innings streak intact, tossing a scoreless seventh and eighth in last night s loss. The Bats bullpen hasn t surrendered a run in their last five games, with the team going 3-2 in that span. Right-handers Drew Hayes, Jumbo Diaz, Matt Magill, Chad Rogers, J.J. Hoover, Stephen Johnson, and Steve Delabar, and lefty Wandy Peralta have combined for 17.2 innings pitched, with nine walks and 17 strikeouts. This stretch comes after a rough three-game patch from June 5-7, when LOU relievers surrendered eight earned runs in 10 innings of work. DIFF RENT STREAKS: Other Louisville streaks weren t so lucky on Sunday, with Jermaine Curtis and Jesse Winker both snapping lengthy on-base and hitting streaks. Curtis snapped a 15 game on-base streak, going 0-for-4 in yesterday s loss. The streak dated back to May 22, and included three pinch-hit appearances, when he walked on May 29 at LHV, singled June 6 at SYR, and walked June 8 at SYR in his only plate appearances in those respective games. Winker snapped a 10 game hitting streak, going 0-for-1 yesterday before exiting the game in the fifth inning. The streak was only the second double-digit hit streak for the Bats all season, with Hernan Iribarren s 14-gamer (4/24-5/18) being the longest. Winker s 10-gamer dated back to May 31, hitting.368 (14-for-38) with five doubles, five RBI, and five walks in that span. (STILL) SHUTOUT LEADERS: The Bats played in their 16th shutout game this season, tied for the most in the International League with Durham (5-11). The Bats are now 8-8 in shutouts, dropping their last three. LOU hasn t shut out their opponent since May 28 at Lehigh Valley, in a 2-0 victory. Sunday was the first game of the road trip where either team failed to score, marking the Bats first shutout game since June 3 vs. Rochester at Louisville Slugger Field, in a 5-0 loss. The Bats owned a 9-14 record in shutouts during the 2015 season. WRONG SIDE OF DUELS: Sunday was Louisville s fifth game of the season that ended in a final score of 1-0. The Bats are 2-3 in those games, with losses coming on April 19 vs. Columbus, April 23 vs. Indianapolis, and yesterday at Pawtucket. They won their two 1-0 contests on April 18 vs. Columbus and May 2 vs. Norfolk. In 2015, the Bats owned a 3-3 record in 1-0 ballgames. BB s for B-A: Bats first baseman Brandon Allen drew another walk last night, the only walk for the Bats as a team in the 1-0 loss. Since May 29, he s tied for the most base on balls in the International League with 10. Allen is tied with Scranton Wilkes-Barre s Aaron Judge and Rochester s Kennys Vargas. His on-base percentage in that span is.345 despite a.182 batting average.

He has received a decision in each of his last six starts (3-3), winning three of his last four. His last outing came at Syracuse on 6/8, where he earned the win, firing seven innings, allowing 10 hits, three runs and a walk, striking out six. He also had an infield RBI single to tie the game, as Louisville went on to win 5-3. In 58 and two-thirds innings pitched overall this season, he has allowed 56 hits and 25 runs (22 earned), walking 15 and striking out 58. Career Notes: Tonight will be Reed's 71st career Minor League appearance, and his 59th start. In 318 career innings pitched, he has a record of 21-22 with a 3.74 ERA. He has allowed 319 hits and 132 earned runs, walking 116 and striking out 285. In 18 career starts in the Reds' organization, he is 11-5 with a 2.82 ERA. He has thrown 108 and one-third innings between Pensacola last season and Louisville this year. In that time, he has allowed 95 hits and 34 earned runs. He has allowed 31 walks and struck out 118 batters. Pitchers Who Rake: Reed has two of the three pitcher hits for the Bats this season. As a team, Louisville pitchers are 3-for-23 (.130), while Reed is 2-for-8 (.250). He also has the lone pitcher RBI. The only other Louisville pitcher to get a hit this season is Josh Smith, who had the lone Bats hit in their 1-0 loss against Indianapolis back on 4/23 at LSF. The two base hits he has are the first two of his career. First and Third Inning Struggles: Reed has struggled to get through the first inning this season. In 10 first innings, he has a 5.40 ERA and has allowed 12 hits and nine runs (six earned), walking four and striking out 13. The ERA, hits, and earned runs are all second-most for a single inning for him. In the third inning this season, Reed has a 7.20 ERA, allowing 16 hits and eight earned runs, walking four. Reed's best innings are the sixth and seventh. In the sixth, he has allowed four hits and two walks, while in the seventh inning, in three times pitching, he has not allowed a hit or a walk, striking out three. He has gone at least six innings in six of his 10 starts and has a season-long outing of eight innings back on 5/7 at Indianapolis.
