Worth, San Antonio, San Angelo, Houston, Star of Texas & Sand Hills) will be taken. This is the ONLY NIGHT entries will be accepted. All exhibitors are required to have their social security numbers on the forms, along with a signature from both the exhibitor AND parent. Cash and check will be the only accepted form of payment. Remember each exhibitor must enter each show they plan to attend on this night. For further questions, contact the extension office. LAMB & GOAT VALIDATION October 5, 2014 11am 4pm Williamson County Show Barn Major Show Contest Entry Night Wednesday, October 29, 2014 4:30pm 6:30pm New this year is a separate entry night for ALL major show contest entries. This includes ALL non-livestock contests such as judging teams, food challenge teams, Public Speaking, Skillathon, etc. All participants are required to have their social security numbers on the forms along with a signature from them AND a parent. Cash and check will be the only accepted form of payment. Contact the extension office for more details. County/State/Major Shows Major Show Lamb & Goat Packets are ready for pick-up at the Extension Office

Major Show Dates to Remember January 16 February 7 February 12 March 1 February 13 March 1 March 3 22 March 14 28 Required Documents for Major Show Entries Social Security # Quality Counts # Payment Animal Papers (if animal is registered) Youth to sign entry Parent to sign entry Texas Heifer Validation Program Texas will implement a statewide Heifer Validation program this fall which will apply to validation for the spring 2015 major livestock shows. The program will: Ensure ownership by the exhibitor by the appropriate date with the appropriate documentation Eliminate backdating of junior heifer ownership Improve the efficiency of check-in processes at major shows The conditions outlined will become requirements for all Texas Major Livestock Shows including; Fort Worth, San Antonio, San Angelo, Houston, Star of Texas, Heart O Texas and the State Fair of Texas. Registration Paper Upload It is required to upload electronic copies of original registration papers for all breeding beef heifers to be exhibited or substituted at any of the aforementioned shows. Heifer validation will only allow the uploading of ONE breed registration paper per heifer. Heifers will be prohibited from exhibiting in multiple breed registries at the Texas Major Livestock Shows. If any papers fail to meet the required criteria, the animal will be deemed ineligible for the show season. The following criteria MUST be meet: The image is READABLE The image is a digital copy of the ORIGINAL registration paper The image proves ownership by the designated exhibitor on or before the respective ownership deadline, NOVEMBER, 1, 2014 The correct image is linked to the designated entry Does not indicate partnerships or ranch name. ONLY the junior exhibitors name should be listed under ownership Physical Validation Texas Major Livestock Shows are requiring all junior breeding heifers to be tattooed, brands recorded and hair samples collected for the DNA Assay between 10/1/2014 and 11/15/2014 for the 2015 spring shows. All heifers must be validated during this time. We will begin scheduling visits to come validate heifers on October 27, 2014. Please let the Extension Office know by October 20 if you will have a heifer for this show season. Cost A $15 fee will be required for each heifer validated from 2015 spring and fall shows. Other notes: Each heifer will only be validated once in her show career. However, we would require the heifer be validated again should there be a change in ownership. If you will be showing a heifer for the 2015 spring shows, please bring your registration papers to the Extension Office as soon as possible.

The main purpose is to teach the basic principles of livestock management as they relate to facility maintenance, selection, nutrition, animal health, handling, showmanship, and transportation. This is a first come, first serve contest. By successfully catching a calf contestants are given the opportunity to raise and show an animal for the 2016 show.

Each year local and county 4-H clubs have the opportunity to showcase what they have gained from their membership in 4-H through activities and events at the local and county level. From October 5 11 express your 4-H pride with this year s theme, #iam4h. Share your 4-H pride on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, along with the #iam4h and #4HWeek hashtags.
