5 FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES EXTINGUISHING MEDIA Use: Alcohol resistant foam. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Dry chemicals, sand, dolomite etc. Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire. Cool aerosol containers exposed to heat with water spray and remove container, if no risk is involved. SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES Keep run-off water out of sewers and water sources. Dike for water control. UNUSUAL FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS Fire causes formation of toxic gases. SPECIFIC HAZARDS The product is flammable, and heating may generate vapours which may form explosive vapour/air mixtures. Closed containers can burst violently when heated, due to excess pressure build-up. PROTECTIVE MEASURES IN FIRE Self contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire. 6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS Wear protective clothing as described in Section 8 of this safety data sheet. Do not smoke, use naked flames or other sources of ignition. Avoid inhalation of vapours and contact with skin and eyes. ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS Do not discharge onto the ground or into water courses. Spillages or uncontrolled discharges into watercourses must be IMMEDIATELY alerted to the Environmental Agency or other appropriate regulatory body. Ensure that waste and contaminated materials are collected and removed from the work area as soon as possible in a suitably labelled container SPILL CLEAN UP METHODS Keep combustibles away from spilled material. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Wash contaminated area with water. Wash thoroughly after dealing with a spillage. 7 HANDLING AND STORAGE USAGE PRECAUTIONS Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact. During application and drying, solvent vapours will be emitted. Do not use in confined spaces without adequate ventilation and/or respirator. Observe workplace exposure limits and minimise the risk of inhalation of vapours and mist. STORAGE PRECAUTIONS Aerosol cans: Must not be exposed to direct sunlight or temperatures above 50 C. Flammable/combustible - Keep away from oxidisers, heat and flames. Store in a cool and well-ventilated place. STORAGE CLASS Flammable liquid storage. 8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION Name Std TWA - 8 hrs STEL - 15 min Notes BUTANE NAPHTHA (PETROLEUM), HYDROTREATED LIGHT; LOW BOILING POINT HYDROGEN PROPAN-2-OL WEL 600 ppm 1450 mg/m3 750 ppm 1810 mg/m3 WEL 326 ppm WEL 400 ppm 999 mg/m3 500 ppm 1250 mg/m3 WEL = Workplace Exposure Limit. ENGINEERING MEASURES Provide adequate ventilation, including appropriate local extraction, to ensure that the defined workplace exposure limit is not exceeded. RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT If ventilation is insufficient, suitable respiratory protection must be provided. HAND PROTECTION Protective gloves and goggles must be used if there is a risk of direct contact or splash. EYE PROTECTION Contact lenses should not be worn when working with this chemical! Wear approved safety goggles. OTHER PROTECTION Use engineering controls to reduce air contamination to permissible exposure level. Wear appropriate clothing to prevent any possibility of liquid contact and repeated or prolonged vapour contact. Provide eyewash station. HYGIENE MEASURES Wash promptly if skin becomes contaminated. Promptly remove non-impervious clothing that becomes contaminated. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. SKIN PROTECTION Use suitable barrier cream to protect skin 9 PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES APPEARANCE COLOUR ODOUR FLASH POINT ( C) Aerosol Colourless Aromatic. Avoid exposure to high temperatures or direct sunlight. Avoid frost. MATERIALS TO AVOID Strong oxidising substances. Strong acids. Strong alkalis. Flammable/combustible material. HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS Thermal decomposition or combustion may liberate carbon oxides and other toxic gases or vapours. 11 TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Prolonged and repeated contact with solvents over a long period may lead to permanent health problems. INHALATION Vapours may irritate throat and respiratory system and cause headache, dizziness and dullness. Vapours have a narcotic effect and may cause headache, fatigue, dizziness and nausea. INGESTION Irritating. May cause nausea, stomach pain and vomiting. Swallowing concentrated chemical may cause severe internal injury. SKIN CONTACT Product has a defatting effect on skin. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking. Irritating to skin. EYE CONTACT Repeated exposure may cause chronic eye irritation. HEALTH WARNINGS Gas or vapour displaces oxygen available for breathing (asphyxiant). Vapour from this chemical can be hazardous when inhaled. SPECIFIC EFFECTS Prolonged or repeated contact with used oil may cause serious skin diseases, such as dermatitis and skin cancer. 12 ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION ECOTOXICITY The product contains substances which are toxic to aquatic organisms and which may cause long term adverse effects in the aquatic 3 / 5

MOBILITY The product is immiscible with water and will spread on the water surface. The product contains volatile substances, which may spread in the atmosphere. BIOACCUMULATION The product contains potentially bioaccumulating substances. DEGRADABILITY The product is not readily biodegradable. 13 DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS Waste to be treated as controlled waste. Disposal to licensed waste disposal site in accordance with local Waste Disposal Authority. Do not puncture or incinerate even when empty. DISPOSAL METHODS Absorb in vermiculite or dry sand, dispose in licensed hazardous waste.
