The Cubs previously won consecutive 1-0 games against the Pirates 112 years ago, turning the trick in a twinbill on July 4, 1906 in Pittsburgh this instance marks the first time the Cubs have won consecutive 1-0 games with both runs scoring on solo homers. STATS, Inc., reports that the Cubs are the fourth team in MLB history to have consecutive 1-0 games in which they won each with a solo homer they join the Tigers in 1960, the Angels in 1964 and the Giants earlier this season. Chicago has shut out the Pirates in consecutive games for the first time since June 21-22, 1989 in Pittsburgh the four shutouts of the Pirates this season are the most by the Cubs against the Buccos since 1945, when they recorded five.
