NOTICE TO HORSE EXHIBITORS Exhibitors please ensure that spelling of horse/rider names are correct. RAS will not accept points if any names are incorrectly spelt. (A card, with correct details neatly printed, if handed to ring steward will ensure correct details are recorded). Blank cards are available below. Intending exhibitors will please peruse the rules regarding entries, in particular the sections under which they propose exhibiting, as they must be rigidly adhered to. VICTORIAN AGRICULTURAL SHOWS LIMITED Rochester Agricultural & Pastoral Association Inc. (To be completed and returned when purchasing entry tickets) HORSE SPORTS PARTICIPANT RISK ACKNOWLEDGMENT & WAIVER Name of Participant. Victorian Agricultural Shows Ltd and Rochester Agricultural & Pastoral Association Inc. (together the Suppliers ) advise that participation in horse sports at an agricultural show or horse competition contains elements of risk, both obvious and inherent. Horse sports are dangerous recreational activities and horses can act in a sudden and unpredictable way, especially when frightened or hurt. 1/ By signing this waiver I acknowledge that: 1.1 participation in horse sports is a hazardous activity and may result in injury, loss, damage or death to me; 1.2 Participation in horse sports requires certain skills. I declare that I have sufficient skills to be able to safely and properly participate in the events; 1.3 Horses can act in a sudden and unpredictable way, especially if frightened or hurt, or if exposed to load or unfamiliar noises; 1.4 If held at an agricultural show, the horse sports will be held in close proximity to rides and large groups of people, and that there may be loud and unfamiliar noises which can frighten horses; 1.5 As the event is held outdoors, there are risks to me and to my horse as a result of the weather conditions, including either extreme hot or cold weather, rain or wind; 1.6 Insects of other animals may cause my horse or other horses to become frightened and act in an unpredictable way; 1.7 There is inherent in horse riding events the risk of suffering injury including falling from my horse; 1.8 I am responsible for ensuring that I have and will wear equipment suitable for safely and properly participating in the event; and 1.9 I use the facilities of Rochester Agricultural & Pastoral Association Inc. entirely at my own risk, as I find them and with the prior acceptance of the risk of possible danger to me. 2. If I suffer harm while participating in a horse event, I will not hold the Suppliers, their employees or agents legally responsible for any injuries I suffer. I will not sue the Suppliers, their employees or agents for any claims, costs, damages or liability. I agree to release the Suppliers and their employees from legal responsibility for the services I have been provided. 3. I acknowledge and agree that my participation in the horse sports and associated activities are a danger and may have inherent risks as a result of which personal injury (and sometimes death) may occur and I accept and assume all such risks of personal injury or death in anyway whatsoever arising from these activities and hereby waive my individual right to sue the Suppliers for all claims I or my representatives may have for such personal injury or death against the Suppliers in any way whatsoever arising from or in connection with these activities.

RULES & REGULATIONS 1. All entries must be bona fide property of the Exhibitor. a. entries to the show are accepted subject to the rules and regulations and by-laws of the Society and of the Show. b. the entrant agrees to be bound by those rules and regulations and by-laws. c. the entrant also agrees to abide by all decisions made by the Society, by the Group with which it is affiliated or by VASA pursuant to those rules and regulations and by-laws, and d. no decision so made shall be called into question by the entrant before any court or other body (whether or not of a similar nature to a court) whatsoever. 2. For horses ages, see respective classes. 3. Each horse must have a good halter and its exhibitor must produce its entry ticket on demand to the show official 4. No judge shall officiate in any section in which he is exhibiting. 5. The judges may award a second or third prize instead of a first, or may withhold a prize altogether where the exhibit is considered unworthy. 6. Where the judge may think any stock worthy of a prize and there is none offered, their awards shall be taken as recommendation for the committee s consideration. 7. An appeal against the decision of the judges will not be entertained unless a protest is made to the stewards in charge of the particular section within 15 minutes after the decision of the Judge, and a deposit of $20 is lodged with the Secretary, which will be forfeited if the committee considers it frivolous. 8. All stock must be paraded where required by the Stewards. 9. The committee shall have the power to require that statutory Declarations be made regarding any animal which they have reason to suppose is being exhibited contrary to the rules connected with this exhibition. 10. All horses exhibited at this show may be subject to an examination by Stewards, and should the state of dentition indicate that any animal that is too old for the section in which it is entered, the Stewards, shall have the powers to disqualify such animals, and shall report the circumstances to the committee at its ensuing monthly meeting. The exhibitor may be disqualified from again competing at Association s Shows, and his name, if he be a member, struck from the roll. 11. Any infringement of the above rules may disqualify an exhibitor. 12. The Association will not hold itself responsible for exhibits, but every care will be taken. 13. In awarding the Championship, unless stated, the first prize winner of the relative sex in each class of the relative subsection shall be eligible to compete. In awarding the Reserve Championship, unless otherwise stated, the first prize winner of the relative sec in each class of the relative subsection, other than the exhibit to which the championship has been awarded, shall be eligible to compete together with the second prize winner in the class in which the Champion was awarded first prize. 14. Each competitor shall not hold the Association and its members indemnified from any loss or damage sustained by or by reason of his or her exhibits. All riders in hunting, riding and jumping events must be insured by the exhibitor. 15. Members will be required to pay a fee for every entry except where otherwise stated. 16. The privilege of distributing Trade List Advertisements or other documents is restricted exclusively to exhibitors at their respective stands. 17. Any exhibitor or Attendant destroying or refusing to attach the prize card to an exhibit after being awarded, will have the prize forfeited and may be debarred from again exhibiting, and his name, if he is a member, struck off the roll. Any person insulting or interfering with the judges during the show will be subject to removal from the grounds, and the prize, if any may be awarded, forfeited. 18. In case of dispute as to construction or interpretation of these regulations, or the meaning of anything in the prize list, the same shall be determined by the committee of the association, whose decision shall be final. 19. The Association may, in its absolute discretion, make reciprocal arrangements with anybody, for the recognition or enforcement of each other punishments. 20. EMERGENCY FACILITIES Fire fighting or other emergency equipment must not be removed or used for any other purpose. Missing or unserviceable equipment should be reported to Administration immediately. HAZARD & INCIDENT REPORTING Competitors must notify the Arena/Pavilion Supervisor or Administration immediately if any hazards are detected or incidents occur. Hazards or incidents are any situation that could result or has resulted in: a) The injury, illness or death or any person. b) The injury, illness or death or any animal. c) The damage, destruction or loss of property. d) Fire e) Other WASTE DISPOSAL All waste, including liquids, must be disposed of responsibly. Storm drains must not be used for the disposal of waste. HOUSEKEEPING All areas must be kept in clean and tidy order with clearly defined and available access and exit routes at all times. Build up of combustible waste must be avoided. SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS Care must be taken to minimize trip hazards and obstacles that people may walk into. Avoid laying unprotected cables or pipes on or above paths, walkways or roads. MEDIA COMMENTS Media comment about matters involving the Great Northern Show or the Showground is co-ordinated by the Administrator. SMOKING Smoking is not permitted inside buildings, within 10 meters of a building entrance, around combustibles, during public performances or while handling hazardous materials. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT a) Competitors should supply their own Residual Circuit Device(RCD) Safety Switch for installation at each power outlet they use. b) Extension cords must be earthed and all electrical appliances must be earthed or double insulated. Appliances must be in a sound working order. c) All electrical leads and temporary electrical equipment should be tagged and tested. d) The use of double adaptors is strictly prohibited. Power boards must be fitted with current overload protection. e) Radiant electric or gas heaters are prohibited. f) Light sockets must not be used for any other purpose than for lighting g) No naked flame permitted. DRUGS a) The use of tranquilisers, stimulants, or any drugs capable of affecting the performance or behaviour of animals is forbidden. b) Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show and that testing of all animals is at the owner s risk. Testing for forbidden substances will be carried out under veterinary supervision.
