2 EDITOR S REPORT Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year and it s hard to believe the show season is almost over already. First of all, I have some really good news in relation to Katie Nash-Clifford who had a bad fall just after our State Show. The following is a report from Judy Nash. Unfortunately I have some bad news from our President Melita. Her mare Mialooka died after being bitten by a snake. Riverton Lodge Mialooka 9/2/00-28/2/2010 Winner of numerous Championships, Hi-Points and Supremes - but mostly hearts. Allan and I, along with Em and her family, and of course Katie, would like to express a mammoth thank you to everyone for their absolutely fantastic support and offers of help following Katie s horrific accident. We were overwhelmed with calls, cards and letters, as well as all the wonderful messages on Katie s phone. As you can imagine, Allan and I knew just what going to Hell and back is like now Australia Day was a total nightmare but, knowing how much all our friends cared most definitely helped us through it all. We are extremely happy to be able to let you all know that the prognosis is very good, the specialist is very hopeful of a total recovery, although it is going to be a very long, tough track but, as Katie says, The alternatives were totally unacceptable, so let s get on with it! And you will all have to call me Angel now I have the halo to prove it!! As all who know Katie are aware, she certainly possesses the guts, positive attitude and sheer determination to get through it all and she most definitely will! (We think the photo says it all!) Allan and I are extremely proud of our beautiful Katie, she is certainly an inspiration to us all! - Judy Nash We are all very sorry Melita. Don t forget to come along to our AGM and Easter Show. All the best, Jenny Harvey. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING This year s AGM will be held on Sunday, 21 st March, 2010 at the Campbell Town Inn commencing at 1:00 p.m. The central location was chosen in the hope that more members are able to attend. Everyone should have a think about standing for a position in the Club or as a

3 committee member. Nomination forms for the committee and last year s AGM Minutes have been emailed out, but they are attached with this newsletter for those without email. Just a reminder that you need to be financial to nominate, accept positions and vote at the AGM. If you have any agenda items they need to be in to our Public Officer in writing, send to - Rodney Gee, "Sunnybanks", Exeter, 7275 by the 14th of March. EASTER ALL-BREEDS SHOW Monday, 5 th April, 2010 Our final show of the season will be held at Westbury. Thank-you to Diane and Mary for organising it. Schedule is attached. -------------------------------------------------------- FROM THE SHOW CO-ORDINATOR Diane Johnston Hi Everyone, Another season is nearly over and here are some reminders about rules etc. Our season runs from the 1 st June until the 30 th May each year. Our hi point shows generally start late September and may run until May or slightly before. We always endeavour to list the shows that are hi point shows, but there are some rules you need to be aware of and some rule changes that you also need to be aware of. It would be a really good idea if you save and print these out so that you have them for future reference. We will re-print them in some future newsletters to keep you all up to date BUT it is up to you as members to read your newsletters and keep yourselves up to date. If you have any queries, please phone me on 63 831639. First of all, for a show to be a hi point show it must have all the correct classes, both halter and ridden, the classes are listed below. The only exception to this is that a 10.2 hh and under class will be added to some shows. This class does not go through to champion as you must win your age/gender class to do that, but it is included where we can to give the little ones a class to encourage more out. The only show that is an exception, as the classes are different, is the Hobart Royal. When they put our halter events on, they are counted as hi point. The ridden is not as they are nowhere near our required classes. Classes are as follows: Pinto any sex under 2 yrs Pinto colt 2/3 yrs Pinto filly 2/3 yrs Pinto gelding 2/3 yrs Champ/Res Jr Pinto Pinto Stallion 4 yrs over Pinto Mare 4 yrs over Pinto gelding 4 yrs over Champ/Res Snr Pinto Best body marked Best presented Best 10.2 under (where available) Ridden Pintos Newcomer Open Ridden Best Educated Champ/Res Ridden Pinto Rider 12 yrs under Rider 13-17 yrs Rider 18 yrs over Shows that should be hi point shows this year are as follows, please note this list is not complete and will be updated in the next newsletter. I have not written in any post Xmas shows yet. If anyone notices that these shows have the incorrect classes, can you please contact me and I will do my best to sort it out, as they do need to be correct to be counted. REMINDER OF SOME RULES AND RULE CHANGES. We take the age of the rider / handler from the 1st June each year. So in your Pinto rider classes or your handler classes (State Show) your age is taken from the 1st June 2009. Also, for your Youth green card the same applies. This way you get the whole year in under one age group. WE NO LONGER COUNT ANY SUPREMES: Last year we counted points from end of day supreme of Allbreeds or Open Horse shows, i.e. Supreme Stallion of Show or Supreme Ridden of Show etc. It was decided at our AGM that we will not be counting any more points from supremes. While they are great to win, and congratulations if you do, there is a big inequality around the state of what is offered in the way of supremes. There is also a huge inequality of what is offered by each breed association. So to be fair to ALL our PINTOS as we are many breeds and come from all areas of the

4 state, we are aiming at keeping it a level playing field for everyone, thus everyone the same available points. The newcomer rules have changed form the previous years. This was put in our newsletter at the beginning of last season last year to pre warn everyone, so this year to be eligible for Newcomer Ridden Pinto you must not have shown under saddle anywhere before the 1 June 2009 in any other ring other than either a beginner or walk/ trot ring. If your horse has shown in open company in ANY ring or discipline / with any rider, it is no longer eligible. You can enter the newcomer event all season until May 30, 2010. CARDS: Your white card is for all LED pinto hi point classes Your yellow card is for all Ridden or Rider Pinto Hi point Classes Your Green Card is for all other classes that are not pinto hi point classes You must use the correct card and you must only put one horse on one card (or we may not count them). For Rider / Handler / Youth classes you must have each horse/handler or horse/rider combinations on thier own cards. (same applies) Cards are due in on the 1 st June, 2010. More about that later in the year. AVAILABLE HI POINT AWARDS 2009/10 The awards that are available for this year are as follows. Hi point awards are taken from your best 3 shows plus your state show.
