Prices 3+3 - Heliskiing Price per person on a base of a double bedroom: EUR 3.550.-- Overnight stays: 6 (Sunday to Saturday) Single supplement: EUR 355,- Each participant is guaranteed 8000 vertical metres descent of heliskiing. In fact we set no upper limit to the amount you may heliski. We will take you up for heliskiing as often as possible. The amount you do is dependant only on your time and the weather / snow conditions. If for reason of poor snow conditions, bad weather, or helicopter availability you do not manage the 8000 metres, then we will refund you EUR 100,- per 1000 vertical metres you are short of the 8000 metres. This means that, if, for example, there is bad weather so that not all the 8000 m are completed, we will reimburse you for the not done meters at EUR 100,- per 1000m altitude not achieved. Reimbursement for vertical descent meters not achieved. If you don t achieve the 8000 vertical descent meters (for example because of weather conditions or technical problems) we will reimburse you EUR 100,-- per 1000 m altitude not achieved. We do not reimburse you if: You decide yourself to stop heliskiing before the end of the programme You miss part of the programme (for example: delayed arriving, early departure, taking a break during the day, etc)
Where is Gudauri? Gudauri is the only ski resort in the Georgian Republic in the Caucasus mountains. It is located on the Kreuzpass approximately 100 km in the north of the capital, Tiflis, at the junction between Europe and Asia. The Caucasus mountains stretch across over 1100 km between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea with some volcanos such as the Elbrus (5642 m) and the Kasbek (5047 m). These mountains offer you a breathtaking panorama of the heliskiing area. Journey to Gudauri You fly, for example with Lufthansa, by direct flight from Munich to Tiflis. The flight time is about 4 hours. After you arrive at Tiflis airport we will bring you in our minibus to Gudauri. It takes about 2 hours depending on the weather conditions. Hotel in Gudauri All rooms are with privat bathroom and toilet, SAT-TV and WLAN. Additional to the restaurant there is a very attractive bar with a roaring log fire. Breakfast and dinner will be a rich buffet with regional and international specialities. When you are heliskiing, you will get at midday a lunchpaket and drinks. Après - heliskiing can be in the sauna or jacuzzi. The ski area Gudauri stands directly in front of the hotel. The ski area is equipped with very modern chairlifts from company Doppelmayr and the runs are prepared by snowcats. There are 7 cable lifts and these are available and included in the price on days when heliskiing is not possible and gives you the possiblity to enjoy the wonderful mountainside with picks over 3270m. Weather and temperatures in the Caucasus mountains: The high Caucasus Mountains offer excellent snow conditions. The average snow depth is around 3 meters. From January until early March you will find predominantly deep powder snow. From beginning of March on the southern hillside firn ski conditions exist and on other hillsides you will still find some wonderful ski runs in deep powder snow. Heliskiing takes place in wilderness skiing areas on untracked wide open runs, which are not always perfect. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee good weather and good snow but in Gudauri you will get the best possible conditions. The temperatures in the Caucasus mountains are comparable to those in the Alps. The location of Gudauri in the south of the main ridges affects the weather positively and provides long periods of good weather. Itinerary 3 + 3 package The 3 days for heliskiing must be scheduled and reserved in advance and it is not possible to modify these on the spot. You can choose Heliskiing either on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday or Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The remaining 3 days of skiing in the prepared and supervised Gudauri skiing area on your own without our assistance. On the first day you will get health and safety briefing, and the helicopter briefing by the pilot and distribution of the equipment. Welcome on the first day in Gudauri (SUNDAY): Arrival early in the morning in Gudauri and reception by the guide team, check in at the hotel, start heliskiing or skiing 2nd to the 6th day (Monday to Friday): Heliskiing or skiing off pist On the 7th day - take leave of Gudauri (SATURDAY): Early in the morning it is time to leave Gudauri
Course of heliskiing Introduction / Information: We will give you full information about how your heliskiing event will be organised. Afterwards we will equip you with the safety equipment adapted to you personally. Additionally to that you will get a health and safety briefing by your guide, who will show you also how to use your avalanche safety equipment (avalanche detector, ABS Airbag rucksack, sounding stick and shovel). We will also brief you on heliskiing and the rules / procedures in connection in connection with the helicopter (in cooperation with the pilot). Heliskiing The amount we can ski every day depents on the skiing ability of the group and on the weather and snow conditions. We have checked out many many ski runs of different length and difficulty over the whole heliski area (1200 km²). All heliski runs are located at between 1500 m and 4000 m above sea level. The runs have a height difference between 500 and 1500 meters and most of them are in wildernesscountry. Some runs pass through sligthly wooded area. The decision taking off with the helicopter for heliskiing depends on the weather and snow conditions, as well as avalanche risk. The heliski guides are obliged, if danger threatens, to limit or even stop the skiing. The heliski guide`s decision is final as regards safety. Snowboarder / Telemark Skiing All snowboarders and those who are doing telemark skiing, and are competent in these discipolines, are very welcome. Our ski area is appropriate for skiers, snowboarders and telemark skiers. Relevant to the number of participants we will form own groups of snowboarder and telemark skiers. If not suffisant members, than we will form a combined snowboard and telemark group. Equipment for skiing Your ski equipment for the 3 days of skiing will be given to you by a local ski rental shop. Please bring your own snowboard and telemark skies. Equipment heliskiing: During the 3 days of heliskiing we will provide you with top quality freeride skies and poles. It is recommended you take your own ski boots with. Please bring also your own snowboard and telemark skies. Each participant will get an avalanche detector, sounding stick, shovel and ABS Airbag backpack for the heliskiing. Alpine Safety Our heli guides are mountain guides and members of the international mountain guide association UIAGM. Some of them are in the team of instructors of the Austrian mountain guide training and are for this reason always completely up to date relating to safety and skiing skills. They are there to help you and to really enjoy your skiing. Our guides check each day the condition of the snow. Together with the pilot they study the weather forecast. These preparations and all the safety equipment will ensure you a safe and great ski adventure. All guides have always an emergency kit with them and the helicopter is similarly equipped. Your guide is also in contact with the helicopter and the hotel via radio and satelitte telephone. Skiing ability and physical requirements: Basically you should feel confident to ski on different terrains and different snow
conditions. Our special freeride skies are easy to handle and excellent for skiing in deep powder snow. A good physical condition is essential for your safety and your enjoyment of skiing. You should not have any heart problems. If you are at all concerned - please talk to your doctor before applying to join us. Age limit The minimum age for participation at the Gudauri Heliskiing is 15 years. There is no upper limit. People under 18 years need a declaration of approval of their parents or legal guardian. Bad weather programme If, because of bad weather conditions, it is not possible to do heliskiing, you can spent your day in the ski area of Gudauri or use the sport facilities in the hotel. Or, we would be pleased to organise a trip to Tiflis and interesting parts of Gudauri. Helicopter and crew Insofar as security and aircraft is concerned we attach a great importance to European quality. We are the first operators in the Caucasus mountains, which fly a helicopter of the type Eurocopter Ecureuil AS 350 B3. This high performance and safe helicopter is well adapted for the mountains and offers apart from the pilot confortable seats for additionally 5 passengers. Travel and cancellation insurance In our package travel and cancellation insurances are NOT included. These insurances are obligatory, please make sure you get them both. Requirements for travelling to the Georgian Republic For travelling to the Georgian Republic you need a passeport, which is still valid 6 months after you leave the Georgian Republic. A visa is not necessary for citizen of the European Union, USA and Switzerland, if the holder does not stay longer than 90 days. Each person must respect the laws and provisions of the customs, health and entring regulations. You will find additional informations under www.bmeia.gv.at. No vaccinations are required for the Georgian Republic. Claims and complaints: Any complaints should be immediately made to the representative of Gudauri Heliskiing in Gudauri. If in that particular case it is possible, he will immediately take the necessary actions to correct the deficit.
