HOLESHOT December 2010 Rider of the Month Marty Highland
President s Page Here we are in December, my year as your president is drawing to a close it s time to look ahead to next year. With the economy still down, the MX industry is suffering also. If you read around the internet, you ll see that other vet clubs are tailoring themselves to meet a need to not only strive but survive. Our challenge for the coming year is to not bury our heads in the sand, but to take the momentum we created in 2010 and build on it for 2011 and beyond. We welcomed 60 plus new members to our club in 2010, most brought in by current members who recognized the boards efforts to return the club to the membership where it belongs, and to turn the mantra membership ran club into a motto. The work is not finished, the path is not complete our club must weather the storm that is a weak economy and build for the future. To do that we all must continue to not only take but give back to the club, not everyone can donate the time it takes to be a board member but if you can I would highly recommend it. When I made the decision to be a board member it was to make a difference, to create an atmosphere where the membership and the board members worked together for the good of the club. Mission accomplished., Chucky Holeshot The official newsletter of the SoCal Chapter of the Over The Hill Gang www.othgmx.org

Please ask Pete or any of the board members. Thanks Old business: 2 motions were rescinded. New Business: From the Summit Meeting at the South National there was a request from the other chapters that we allow members to move up the next older age group that they will be turning on January 1st of that year rather than waiting until their actual birthday. The reasoning for this was that it would be easier to get in your two rides in the new age group prior to the first national of the year. Also it would make it easier to track the national points since riders wouldn't be switching age groups in the middle of the national series. The motion was discussed and determined that riders who had their birthdays later in the year (i.e. December vs. January) would gain an advantage. Also, an alternate solution was suggested that the riders could just remain in their current age groups until the end of the national series. This discussion was tabled until next month.
Minutes continued A motion was passed to drop the 28 class. (the other chapters did not support it) Any members already in this class will be grandfathered. A motion to remove all information about Mammoth from our bylaws passed. A motion to separate the local race points from the national points You are allowed to drop 3 races. (local races only) The banquet and the picnic can be dropped. The banquet points were reduced to 35. The south national is both a local race and a national race. This motion was passed. The criteria for the Ironman award stays the same. A motion to have only the top 50 earned numbers reserved. Was tabled. A poll will put on the site to get input. Meeting adjourned at 9:08 PM
