THE HARROGATE GOLF CLUB RULES (2012) EDITION 1 Name and Address The Club shall be called The Harrogate Golf Club situated at Forest Lane Head, Starbeck, and Harrogate, HG2 7TF and includes all those Members stated in the Rules. 2 Objects The objects of the Club are as stated in the Memorandum and Articles of Association of Harrogate Golf Club Limited. The principal object of the Club is to provide a Golf Course and Club House for the Members and to supply refreshments and all things incidental to the playing of golf. It shall afford to Members and their friends the usual privileges of a social Club consistent with the principal object of The Harrogate Golf Club Limited and its constitution. 3 General Management The Council of the Club shall constitute the Board of Directors of the Company and shall be elected by those Members of the Company entitled to vote at the Company s Annual General Meetings. Throughout the Board of Directors is referred to as The Council and is responsible for the general management of the Club and the Company. 4 Members Classes and Privileges The Council may introduce new classes of Membership at any time during the Financial Year should they consider that to do so is in the best interests of the Membership as a whole. All classes of Membership have such rights and privileges as determined by Council and set out in the Rules or published by Council on notice boards. 4.1 Full Members categorised as Seven Day being all those who do not belong to any other Class of Member. Such persons shall enjoy all the rights of Members. 4.2. Full Members categorised as Class B. The only persons eligible for this Class are: 4.2.1 Country Members being persons who are resident outside a radius of 50 miles from the Club House and who do not pay Council Tax on a property within a radius of 50 miles. 4.2.2 Such other persons as the Council may from time to time determine. Such persons shall enjoy all the rights of Members. 4.3 Six Day Members, being members who have all the rights of Seven Day members except playing rights on Saturdays. The persons and the numbers admitted to this class shall be at the discretion of the Council. 4.4 Honorary Playing Members. The Council may at any time elect any other person as an Honorary Playing Member of the Club for such period as they think fit. 4.5 The Council may confer Honorary Life Membership on any Member of the Club as recognition of any outstanding services such a Member has given for the benefit of golf and the well-being of the Club. Such Membership shall enjoy all the privileges of a Seven Day Member. 4.6 Associate Members. The only persons eligible for this Class are persons of either sex between the ages of 18 and 21. An Associate Member attaining the age of 21 shall remain such a Member until the end of the year during which they attain that age and shall thereupon be transferred into Seven Day, such Members shall be entitled to the use of the Course and Club House and property including the right to play in competitions. 4.7 Junior Members. Persons of between the ages of 8 and 18 are eligible for nomination for this Class. A Junior Member attaining the age of 18 shall remain as such until the end of the year during which they attain that age and thereupon be transferred to Associate Member. Junior Members shall be entitled to the use of the Course and Club House and property upon such conditions as may be laid down from time to time by Council. They may not enter sweepstakes nor gamble on Club premises. 4.8 Non Playing Members. All persons are eligible for nomination for this Class provided they undertake to maintain their Membership for at least two years. A Non Playing Member shall be entitled to the use of the Club House and to play the Course on not more than six days in each year provided the Member pays the reduced Members Guest green fee for the day of play, but otherwise such a Member shall not be entitled to play the Course whether with or without a Temporary Members ticket except with the consent of the Council. 4.9 Temporary Members. Temporary Members are entitled to the use of the Course and the Club House and property for the period of Membership, but no such right shall be exercised unless and
until the subscription for the current period has been paid. Temporary Members are not entitled to enter into competitions unless specially authorised by the Council. The period of Membership and subscription payable shall be as determined by the Council. 5 Election of Members. 5.1 Membership of the Club shall be open to anyone interested in the sport of golf upon application regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs. 5.2 Application shall be made in writing and sent to the Club Secretary. 5.3 Following receipt of a written application, prospective new Members shall be invited to attend an Induction meeting with the Chairman of Membership to discuss membership matters for both Club and applicant. Following this meeting confirmation of their Membership shall be placed before the full Council. 5.4 Membership may be declined if the available number of places for that class of Membership has already been reached. However, the applicant s name shall be placed on a waiting list and the next available place shall be allotted to the applicant. 5.5 In exceptional circumstances membership may be refused if there is good reason to suggest that the conduct or character of the applicant is likely to bring the Club or golf in general into disrepute. 6 Entrance Fees. 6.1 The payment of the Entrance Fee and Subscription (or first instalment thereof) by any Member of any Class shall be a distinct acknowledgement of the acceptance of Membership and acquiescence in the Articles, Rules and By-laws (currently in force) of the Club. 6.2 No Entrance Fee shall be payable by Associate, Junior or Honorary Playing members and no entrance fee shall be payable when transferring from Associate to Seven Day member if they have been a member for a period of at least 2 years. 6.3 No person becoming a Member of any Class or transferred into any Class shall exercise any right as a Member until their Entrance Fee is paid and if it shall remain unpaid for one month the Council may cancel the Membership. 6.4 Where a former Member is re-elected, they shall pay the rate of Entrance Fee current at the date of re-joining less the Entrance Fee in force at the time the Member left the Club. 7 Annual Subscription 7.1 Currently each Annual Subscription shall be due and payable in advance on the 1st day of January in each year in respect of such year, except where a Member has elected to pay the Subscription as described in paragraph 7.8 below. However the Council has the power to change the Subscription year without further recourse to Members. Where a Member is elected during a year the Subscription shall be due and payable on that date of the election and shall be at the full year s rate except that where an election is after 31 March. 7.1.1 New Members joining between 1 April and 30 June shall pay ¾ Annual Subscription 7.1.2 New Members joining between 1 July and 30 September shall pay ½ Annual Subscription 7.1.3 New Members joining between 1 October and 31 December shall pay ¼ Annual Subscription. In all cases full Entrance Fee is payable. 7.2 The following rules apply to Subscriptions:- 7.2.1 Six Day Member the subscription shall be 150 less than that of a Seven Day member. 7.2.2 The subscriptions for Associate Members transferring to Seven Day are graduated annually from age 21 to Seven Day subscription following their 25th birthday. New Members joining between the ages of 21 and 25 pay the Seven Day subscription. 7.2.3 Students between the ages of 21 and 26 attending a recognised place of full time education shall pay the same annual subscription as an Associate Member. A Student in full time education living away from home outside a radius of more than 50 miles shall receive a 50% reduction. 7.2.4 For any other Class of Member not referred to above, the subscription shall be as determined by Council. 7.2.5 Life Members. Any Seven Day member may in lieu of an annual subscription pay a single subscription (which shall be in addition to the Entrance Fee (if any) already paid) of such an amount as may from time to time be determined by the Council in order to qualify for Life Membership. 7.3 Non Playing Members. These Members shall pay a single subscription rate to be set by Council. 7.4 Increases in Subscriptions. The Council is empowered to increase the rates of Entrance Fees and Subscriptions by up to 10% and may introduce such an increase not more than once in any one
year. If the Council considers for the purposes of the Club s finances an increase greater than 10% is required, it can only be empowered by a General Meeting of the Club Members. 7.5 Payment of Subscriptions and Rights of Membership. A Member whose subscription shall be in arrears for one month shall not be entitled, until payment thereof, to any of the rights of Membership and the Council may post the Member s name and address in the premises of the Club. If the subscription is then remaining unpaid for a second month, the Council may erase the Member s name from the Register of Members. 7.6 Temporary Members. The subscription for Temporary Membership may be fixed at any time by the Council and except for any special dispensation by the Council will be displayed in the Club premises and the Professional s Shop. 7.7 Absence Abroad. If a Member gives notice in writing by 31 December that the Member intends to be absent from the United Kingdom for the next twelve months, the Member will not be required to pay any subscription for that period. If the Member returns during the year the Member will be required to pay 7.7.1 Member returning between 1 April and 30 June shall pay ¾ Annual Subscription 7.7.2 Member returning between 1 July and 30 September shall pay ½ Annual Subscription 7.7.3 Member returning between 1 October and 31 December shall pay ¼ Annual Subscription A list of such Members, called the Supernumerary List, is to be kept. 7.8 Payment by Instalments. Members may by prior arrangement select to pay their subscriptions by equal monthly instalments by direct debit in accordance with the Fairway Credit Scheme (or other similar schemes approved by Council) subject to the surcharge currently in force. 8 Cessation of Membership A Member wishing to resign must give at least 7 clear days notice to the Secretary and if notice is not given to the Secretary by 31 December he/she will be liable for the next year s subscription notwithstanding that he/she has ceased to be a Member. 9 Conduct of Members If in the opinion of the Council the conduct of any Member either inside or outside the Club is such as to cause injury to the Club s reputation or is against the interest of the Members as a whole, they may, as they think fit, suspend that person from Membership or warn the Member as to his future conduct. Where the Member is suspended, the Secretary shall send notice of the suspension to the home address of the Member and shall summon him to attend before the Council to explain his conduct. If the Council, on hearing any evidence that may be called and after affording the Member a fair and honest hearing, decides that the offence is of a serious nature, they may either suspend that Member for a period of not less than three months or immediately terminate that person s Membership. At least one half of the Council must attend such a hearing and two thirds of those present must agree the suspension or termination of Membership. 9.1 No person whose Membership has been terminated may re-apply for Membership for a period of two years from the date of expulsion. 10 Liability of Members - is limited to 2.00 (Two Pounds) 11 Club House The Club House shall be open daily as determined by the Council. The service of intoxicating liquors shall be subject to the provisions of the Licensing Act 1964 and subsequent amendments and permitted hours thereunder shall be as laid down in the Bye-Laws. 12 Guests Members Guest shall be defined as one of the following: 12.1 Visitors, being Temporary Members, paying green fees who have not been introduced by a Member. 12.2 Visitors introduced by a Member (but not playing with that Member) paying green fees. 12.3 Guests of Members playing with Members and paying a reduced green fee. 12.4 Guests of Members who have been invited to the Club merely for a meal or a drink and not paying any green fee. 12.5 Players from visiting Clubs or Societies. 12.6 Official supporters from visiting Clubs or Societies who are not playing golf or paying any green fee. 12.7 Outsiders attending some function (not playing golf) for which the Club either on its own account or by means of its franchise catering arrangement is catering or is providing other facilities. 12.8 Visitors to the Club may if the rules permit attend the Club for a meal.
12.9 Subject to any restrictions, which may from time to time be imposed by the Council, the following persons shall be entitled to admission to the club premises to be supplied with and/or sold alcohol for consumption on the premises: 12.9.1 Golfers on payment of the appropriate green fee and Members guests. 12.9.2 Those taking table meals at the Club premises. 12.9.3 Those attending any function organised at the Club. All Members bringing guests into the Club House must enter the guests names into the Visitors Book and sign them in. Members are responsible for the due observance of the rules of the Club by their guests. 13 The Council 13.1 The Council shall be not more than 10 or less than 8 in number and shall include: 13.1.1 The Chairman of the Club; 13.1.2 The Captain of the Club (2012) and from 2013 The Men s Captain; 13.1.3 The Ladies' Captain; 13.1.4 The Honorary Treasurer of the Club; 13.1.5 The Chairman of the Green Committee; 13.1.6 The Chairman of the House Committee; 13.1.7 The Chairman of Competitions Committee, together with such other persons as may be elected to the Council by the Members at the Annual General Meeting or such other General Meeting as may be necessary. The role of Council Member and Director are contemporaneous and are elected at General Meeting by Ordinary Resolution. 13.2 Subject to the provisions regarding eligibility contained in the Company s Articles of Association and save as set out below the nominees for the Chairman of the Green Committee, Chairman of the House Committee, Chairman of Competitions Committee and those members of the Council not holding separate executive office will be nominated by the Members. Subject always to the Members to make any additional nominations for the following posts, nominations shall generally and traditionally be submitted by the parties listed below: 13.2.1 Men s President past Men s/club Presidents; 13.2.2 Men s Captain Past Men s/club Captains 13.2.3 Ladies' Captain Past Ladies' Captains; 13.2.4 Chairman of the Club Council; 13.2.5 Men s Captain Elect Past Men s/club Captains; 13.2.6 Ladies' Captain Elect Past Ladies' Captains; 13.2.7 Honorary Treasurer Council; 13.3 The Secretary of the Club (being an employee) will be appointed by the Council. 13.4 Subject to the Articles of Association of the Company, the following shall retire at the Annual General Meeting arising on or immediately prior to the first anniversary of their appointment. 13.4.1 Men s' President; 13.4.2 Men s Captain; 13.4.3 Ladies' Captain; 13.4.4 Honorary Treasurer 13.5 Subject to the Articles of Association of the Company the following shall retire at the Annual General Meeting falling on or immediately prior to the third anniversary of their appointment. 13.5.1 Chairman of the Club; 13.5.2 Chairman of the Green Committee; 13.5.3 Chairman of the House Committee; 13.5.4 Chairman of Competitions Committee; 13.5.5 Council Members other than those referred to in paragraph 13.1 above. 13.6 All appointees to the Council (other than those referred to below) may, subject to re-election, hold office without limit in point of time. The following offices however may only be held by the same person for the maximum number of consecutive years as set out opposite the relevant office below. 13.6.1 Chairman of the Club six years; 13.6.2 President two years; 13.6.3 Men s Captain one year; 13.6.4 Ladies' Captain one year; 14 Nominations No person shall be eligible to be elected at an Annual General Meeting of the Club as a Council Member or as Men s President or Men s or Ladies' Captains Elect unless their nomination as such shall, on or before the 15 January of that year (or such later date (if any) as the Council may think fit, being not later than the sending out of the notices convening the meeting), have been entered in a book to be kept for
the purpose at the Club House and signed by two Members as proposer and seconder thereof. A list of such nominations with the names of proposers and seconders shall be sent by the Secretary to every Member entitled to attend and vote at the relevant General Meeting together with the Notice convening the said meeting. 15 Chairman, Captains and Men's President 15.1 Chairman The Chairman of the Club shall be responsible for the day to day management of the Club and the formulation and progression of its long term strategy. They shall chair the Council and General meetings of the Club. 15.2 Men s and Ladies Captains The Captains of the Club will be the figureheads of the Club in all golfing and social activities and be responsible for those matters during their year of office. They will also be Council Members. 15.3 Men s President The Men s President will act as an ambassador and be supportive of the Captains in their social functions. He will be regarded as an elder Statesman of the section but will not be a Council Member. 16 General Meeting 16.1 The Annual General Meeting shall be held not later than the 30 April of each year on such date and at such time and place as the Council shall determine. 16.2 All other General Meetings are called Extraordinary. 16.3 Every Member, except Non Playing, Honorary Playing, Associate, Junior and Temporary Members ( Non voting Members ) shall be entitled to one vote. Non-voting Members shall not be entitled to vote at any General Meeting of the Club or to receive notice of or attend at General Meetings of the Club. 16.4 In the event of an equal number of votes being cast in an election for any office or for any Ordinary Resolution requiring a simple majority the Chairman shall have the casting vote. 17 Sub-Committees 17.1 The Council shall elect such Sub-Committees as it may deem advisable for the efficient administration of the Club, consisting of as many Members as the Council may decide provided that such Sub-Committees shall be Elective Committees within the meaning of the Licensing Act 1964. The Chairman of the Club, the Men's and Ladies' Captains, the Secretary and the Honorary Treasurer shall each be deemed to be Members of such Sub-Committees. In particular there shall be a Bar Committee consisting of four Members of the Council. The Bar Committee shall be responsible for the purchase, sale and supply of intoxicating liquors in accordance with the Licensing Act, 1964, and subsequent amendments, and in this connection cannot co-opt any Member. The activities of each Sub-Committee are subject to confirmation of Council. 17.2 Sub-Committee Chairmen (appointed by the Council) shall be entitled to co-opt additional members to their Sub-Committee provided that they remain Elective Committees as aforesaid. Such coopted members shall not, for the avoidance of doubt, be Council Members. The proceedings of such Sub-Committees shall be regulated in accordance with the Company s Articles of Association but for the avoidance of doubt such co-opted members shall not be entitled to vote. 18 Alteration of Rules The foregoing Rules may be altered at any General Meeting of the Club. A copy of the proposed alterations shall be sent to every Member entitled to a vote and such meetings shall be called in accordance with the procedure detailed in paragraph 4 of the Articles of Association. 19 Bye-Laws The Council are empowered to make, repeal and amend such regulations as they may from time to time consider necessary for the due performance of their duties. If there be any inconsistency between the Bye-laws and the Rules of the Club for the time being, the Rules shall prevail. 20 Adoption of Royal & Ancient Rules It shall be an obligation upon all Members to play the game of golf in full accord with its spirit, traditions and etiquette and the Club adopts the Rules of the game as laid down by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, subject to the Local Rules of the Club. 21 Conflict In the event of any conflict between these Rules and the Articles of Association of the club the Articles of Association will prevail.
THE HARROGATE GOLF CLUB BYE LAWS (2012) EDITION These Bye Laws have been created by the Council within the power granted to it under the Articles of Association and Rules of the Club. If there is any inconsistency between these Bye Laws and the Articles and or Rules of the Club, the Articles and Rules shall prevail. These Bye Laws are binding upon all Members. Variations from, or additions to these Bye Laws will be valid and operate if posted by notice in the Clubhouse. Copies of the Memorandum and Articles of Association and the Rules of the Club are available for inspection in the Secretary s Office on application to the Secretary. 1 Clubhouse Opening Hours 1.1 The minimum hours during which the Clubhouse will be open to Members and Visitors are: Monday to Saturday - 0700 to 2400 hours Sunday, Good Friday - 0730 to 2100 hours 1.2 Bar opening hours will be: Monday to Saturday - 1100 to 2300 hours Sunday, Good Friday -1200 to 2030 hours On Christmas Day the Clubhouse is closed. NOTE: - Any variation to these hours will be the subject of notice in the Clubhouse. The Steward is empowered by the Council to close the Clubhouse and/or Bar earlier than the official hours, when it is self-evident that the demand for facilities has disappeared or is unreasonable. 2 Dress Code Clothing should be smart both on the Course and in the Clubhouse. It is expected that members will not enter the bar, lounge or dining room in wet golf clothing. No Trainers/No Football or Rugby type Shirts/No torn or distressed Jeans. Smart jeans may be worn after 5.30pm in all areas of the clubhouse and on the veranda. Notices displayed in the Clubhouse provide more detailed guidance on the expected dress code. The Steward, Secretary, Professionals and Council Members are authorised to draw attention to improper dress. 3 Mobile Phones Mobile phones may be carried on the Course, in silent mode, for use in Emergencies only. Members may use mobile phones in the vestibule of the Clubhouse only. 4 Catering Winter Period 1 November-31 March Monday 1000-1600 hours Tuesday 1000-1600 hours Wednesday 1000-1600 hours Thursday 1000-1600 hours Friday 1000-2100 hours Saturday 1000-1600 hours Sunday 1000-1600 hours Summer Period 1 April-31 October Monday 1000-1700 hours Tuesday 1000-1700 hours Wednesday 1000-2100 hours Thursday 1000-1700 hours Friday 1000-2100 hours Saturday 1000-1700 hours Sunday 1000-1700 hours 5 Course Etiquette Members are required to study, and conform to, the Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, and conformation to Section 1 (Etiquette) and Section 111 (Rules of Play) in
particular is required. Attention is also drawn to the Section concerning slow play, and to the necessity to smooth out footmarks etc., in bunkers and to repair pitch marks on greens. 6 Handicaps Members are also required to study and conform to the Standard Scratch Score and Handicapping Schemes as published by: Gentlemen & Ladies - The Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) 7 Buggies 7.1 No ride-on buggies are allowed without express permission of Council. A copy of the buggy policy is available in the Pro shop or from the Secretary. 8 Visitors 8.1 Visiting parties (normally defined as consisting of 8 or more) are allowed each day except Saturday. They may be allowed later in the afternoon on a Saturday at the discretion of the Secretary. All parties are allocated starting times and details are displayed on the monthly sheet displayed on the Club s notice boards and held by the Professional, and are also on the website. Members should consult these notices regularly for late changes in arrangements or telephone the Professional. 8.2 Mid-week starting times are at the discretion of the Secretary. Casual visitors are allowed at any time (subject to acceptance by the Secretary or Professional) but may not tee off before 1430 hours on Competition Saturdays or before 0930 hours on Sundays, unless playing with a member of the Club. 8.3 Junior visitors may not play on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays unless playing with an adult. 8.4 A member (other than a Junior or House member) may introduce a maximum of three visitors at any one time at a reduced fee and no person may be so introduced by any member or members more than 6 times in any one year. No member of a visiting party is eligible for introduction at a reduced fee. Visiting juniors may not play the course unless they have an official handicap or are playing with an adult. 9 Ladies Competitions 9.1 These take place on a Tuesday morning and a timesheet is in operation at this time. Competitors have priority at this time. 10 Men s Competitions 10.1 These take place on a Saturday and a Wednesday. A timesheet is in operation on a Saturday but not on a Wednesday. Competitors have priority at this time. 11 Juniors Children under the age of 8 are not allowed on the course or practice ground, except as part of an organised lesson. Children between the age of 8 and 12 must be under the control of an adult at all times both on the course and practice ground and in the clubhouse. Any junior playing in a Club Competition must play with an adult member. They may not enter sweepstakes or gamble. On Competition Days, juniors not competing may start from the first tee only after all competitors have started. 12 Priority 12.1 The Captains and President have priority on the first tee. 12.2 The rules regarding Priority on the Course as laid down in Section 1 - Etiquette of the Rules of Golf, are to be observed. In addition no match may consist of more than four players. 12.3 On Competition Days competitors have priority on the Course at all times. Competition Days are designated by the Committee and published on Club notice boards. 12.4 On other than Competition Days, players may start from the 10th tee but only if the 9th hole is clear from tee to green. Players starting from the 10th tee must give priority to those who have started from the 1st tee. 12.5 Priority is given to Members and their guests (if any) between 1230-1400 and before 9.30am hours over the demands of casual visitors but not parties. 13 Notices No notices or papers of any kind shall be posted in the Clubhouse except with the authority of the Secretary or the Council. 14 Damage Members shall report to the Secretary without delay any damage to property outside the limits of the course. Similar requirements shall apply to any physical injury to a third party. Responsibility for paying
any damage rests with the Member. Attention is drawn to the fact that a public right of way runs alongside the 11th hole. Members are reminded to familiarise themselves with the terms and conditions of the Members insurance policy that are posted in the clubhouse 15 Miscellaneous 15.1 Two players must not share the same clubs except as allowed in Foursomes matches. 15.2 Practising on the course are not allowed, other than the playing of a round or as provided for in the R. & A. Rules in formal competitions. 15.3 Medal tees are to be used only for Club Competitions or other events approved by the Council. 15.4 Entrants for Competitions must sign the Competition Book on the day of the Competition before starting their round and electronically using their swipe card. 15.5 The Council is concerned that Temporary Membership of the Club shall not be accorded to visitors who cause, or are likely to cause, unreasonable inconvenience to Members or damage to the course or who are improperly dressed. For this purpose the Professional and his staff are authorised to refuse or terminate Temporary Membership at their discretion. 15.6 Bags or other equipment are not allowed to be placed or left in the corridors, the entrance hall, the Casual Bar, the Lounge, Dining Room or Veranda. 15.7 No member or visitor shall bring a dog onto the course or into the Clubhouse. 16 Suggestion Box This is located in the 19 th bar and suggestions will be reviewed monthly at Council meetings with replies sent to the individual by e-mail. A summary of suggestions will appear on the members-only section of the website. 17 Guests Subject to any restrictions which may from time to time be imposed by the Council, the following persons shall be entitled to admission to Club premises and with the exception of those guests described in paragraph 13(d) below, to purchase intoxicating liquor for consumption on the premises. 17.1 Golfers on payment of the appropriate green fee. This category embraces visiting golfers and officials engaged in competitions and events (by whomsoever organised), but approved by the Council and any other golfer accorded the courtesy of the course by the Council. 17.2 Those taking table meals in the Club premises. 17.3 Those attending any function at the Club premises in whatever capacity. This category includes persons attending on the Club premises functions which are not organised by the Club or Club Members, but which are run by outside organisations renting part of the Club premises for the said function. The number of such functions shall not exceed six in any one year. 17.4 Members personal non-playing guests, wives and husbands of Members are unrestricted, but otherwise Members may not introduce the same guest more than twelve times in any one calendar year. All Members bringing non-playing guests into the Clubhouse must enter the guests names into the Visitors Book and sign them in. 17.5 Members are responsible for the due observance of the rules of the Club by their guests. 18 Harrogate & District Union 18.1 H&D.U. Competitions Courtesy of participating courses - If convenient 2 Starting Times (8 players) will normally be made available by each of the other Clubs in the Union to members of a Club hosting a FULL DAY HARROGATE & DISTRICT UNION COMPETITION. (Except Winter Alliances.) Members wishing to avail themselves of this facility should contact the Club Secretary. The Secretary will then contact the Secretary of the Club concerned to seek permission for courtesy and a convenient starting time. Dates when courtesy of other courses will be made available are shown on the Union Fixtures List. 18.2 H&DU Inter Club Visiting Scheme (I.C.V.S.) Club Members may purchase books of tickets through their Secretaries, price 7.50, to permit them to play one weekday round of golf on each of the courses within the Harrogate & District Union, at half the normal green fee. This is an attractive proposition to players wishing to play practice rounds for Union events. 19 YORKSHIRE UNION MATTERS Yorkshire Union Inter Club Visiting Scheme Cards can be purchased via the Secretary's office, 2012 rate 10, and allows members to play at Affiliated Clubs who are in the scheme at a reduced rate. The Yorkshire Union Card can be used throughout Yorkshire and the Northern Counties (350 golf clubs are currently registered).
