Georgia State will continue its 5game, 10day road trip on Monday afternoon facing Chicago State in the first of three games in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic in Rochester, Mich., on the campus of Oakland University. After opening the event with Chicago State on Monday at 4:30 p.m. ET, the Panthers will face Western Carolina on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. ET, followed by host Oakland on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. Georgia State opened the event falling to No. 14 Iowa State, 8158, last Monday in Ames, Iowa. Georgia State (12) opened the trip with a tough 8070 loss to Colorado State on Friday night. The Panthers led by as many as 12 in the first half and five at halftime before the Rams used a 140 with less than five minutes remaining in the game to pull away from the Panthers. The Panthers now turn their attention to three programs that they have never faced in their 51year history. Chicago State enters the tournament 22, while Western Carolina is 12 and Oakland is 03. I think we have learned a lot about ourselves in these last two tough losses, head coach Ron Hunter said. We played well for a half against Iowa State and played 35 pretty good minutes against Colorado State, however, that is not enough. When things have turned against us in each of those games, we did not respond the way championship teams do. Our players understand that and are going into this tournament with a much better mindset. Georgia State is led by junior R.J. Hunter who was named Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year and is averaging 21.3 points per game this season. Last week he was named to the John R. Wooden Watch List as one of the top 50 players in the nation. Hunter enters the week already in the top 15 in several career statistical categories in Georgia State history. The Panthers were unanimously selected by the Sun Belt Conference head coaches to win the league once again this year. Georgia State opens the season playing six straight programs for the first time. The trend continues with the CBE Hall of Fame Classic this week where the Panthers will face Chicago State, Western Carolina and Oakland. GSU has already faced Tennessee Temple, Iowa State and Colorado State for the first time in program history. Georgia State has won 12 of its last 16 true road games dating back to last season. Head coach Ron Hunter has never faced Western Carolina, but is 99 alltime against Chicago State and 1218 alltime against Oakland. All of those games came while he was head coach at IUPUI. In his last year at IUPUI, he split with Oakland. R.J. Hunter was named to the prestigious John R. Wooden Watch List on Nov. 17 as one of the top 50 players in the country to watch. Junior R.J. Hunter was named the 201415 Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year and earned preseason allconference firstteam honors along with Ryan Harrow, while senior Curtis Washington was named to the third team. Georgia State currently rides a 14game homecourt winning streak which ranks tied for 12th in the country with Virginia. The Panthers went 130 at home during the 2013 14 season and are 10 in 201415. Duke has won 35 straight home games for the longest streak in the country. Junior R.J. Hunter is quickly moving up the ranks of several alltime records. Here is a look at some of the numbers: Points: currently 11th with 1,195; 320 shy of Rodney Hamilton s 1,515 3point Field Goals: currently 3rd with 185; 55 shy of Shellord Pinkett s 240 3point Field Goal attempts: currently 3rd with 482; 155 shy of Shellord Pinkett s 637 Free throws made: currently 10th with 254; 107 shy of Phillip Luckydo s 361 Free throw percentage: currently 2nd at 82.2 percent;.016 behind Rodney Hamilton s schoolrecord of 83.8 percent. Steals: currently 7th with 125; 88 shy of Rodney Hamilton s 212 Curtis Washington blocked 78 shots last year were the third most in school history. He is currently eighth on the alltime list with 82 blocked shots. Head coach Ron Hunter continued a trend of bringing highmajor transfers back to Atlanta. Late last spring, Hunter announced that Kevin Ware would be returning home (Conyers, Ga.) after three seasons at Louisville. Ware is unfortunately most known for a gruesome leg injury that he suffered during the Cardinals run to a national championship in 2013. The list of highmajor transfers to the Panthers includes Ryan Harrow (Kentucky), Manny Atkins (Virginia Tech) and Jeremy Hollowell (Indiana), who will be eligible for the Panthers in 201516. R.J. Hunter is a member of elite company. He is one of only seven returning players in the country to make 100 or more 3pointers during the 201314 season. R.J. Hunter became the 18th Panther to score 1,000points in his career, needing just 55 games, the second fewest in program history (Phillip Luckydo 49 games), accomplishing the feat against Troy (Feb. 15, 2014). Ryan Harrow is on pace to become the 19th Panther to reach the mark for GSU after scoring 604 points last year. Under head coach Ron Hunter, the Panthers are 3610 in the GSU Sports Arena, a winning percentage of 78.2. Ron Hunter won his 50th game as the head coach of Georgia State against UL Lafayette last season, accomplishing the feat quicker than any previous Panther coach. Head coach Ron Hunter owns the records for the most wins in his first season, first two seasons and first three seasons of any coach in program history. In his first three seasons, he has won 62 games, surpassing the total of Hall of Fame coach Charles Lefty Driesell who won 50 games during his first three seasons. Driesell won 79 games in his first four seasons, including the schoolrecord 29 wins during the 200001 season. Expectations are high for the Panthers entering the season as ESPN, NBC Sports, USA Today and CBS Sports have all projected the Panthers to win the Sun Belt Conference. ESPN, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, CBS Sports and Bleacher Report all have the Panthers selected to make the NCAA tournament in their annual preseason previews. GSU is ranked anywhere from a No. 9 seed to a No. 12 seed.

Georgia State Men s Basketball Notes (page 3) (254), second in free throw percentage (82.2), third in 3pointers (185), third in 3point attempts (482), seventh in 3point percentage (38.4) and seventh in steals (125) after swiping five at Colorado State. He will also move into the top 10 for field goals made, field goals attempted and games started early in the season. Senior Ryan Harrow joined Hunter as an AllSun Belt Preseason firstteam member and on the Lou Henson Preseason Watch List as one of the top midmajor players in the country. Following a junior season in which he scored 604 points, tied for fourth most in program history, he could become just the fifth Panther to reach the 1,000point career plateau in two seasons. Harrow is currently averaging 21.0 points per game, third best in the Sun Belt and leads the Panthers with 16 assists. Notes: R.J. Hunter stands second in the Sun Belt averaging 21.3 points per game and is first making 4.0 3pointers per contest. Ryan Harrow is second in the league averaging 5.3 assists per game. His 144 assists last year are tied for the seventh most in a single season in school history. Along with Hunter, the pair has been listed by several publications as among the top 100 players in college basketball. In just three games, junior T.J. Shipes has already match his field goals made and field goals attempted from his sophomore season. He had a careergame in the regular season opener, scoring a careerhigh 10 points and tied a careerhigh with eight rebounds. Redshirtjunior Kevin Ware adds to the list of highmajor transfers to come to Georgia State since Ron Hunter s arrive. Ware played three seasons for Louisville and helped the Cardinals to a national championship in 2013. He is averaging 30.0 minutes and 8.3 points per game and has dished eight assists. Georgia State leads the Sun Belt averaging 81.0 points per game and is second in field goal percentage, shooting 50.3 percent. The Panthers are also second in the league shooting 42.9 percent from 3point range, knocking down 8.0 3pointers per contest. Georgia State was unanimously selected to win the Sun Belt this season by the conference s head coaches after making a Postseason NIT appearance last year and winning 25 games, including a 171 mark in the Sun Belt and winning the league by five games. Following the CBE Hall of Fame Classic, Georgia State conclude its road trip at IUPUI where head coach Ron Hunter coached for 17 years. The game is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN3. DEFENDING CHAMPS In its first year back in the Sun Belt Conference, Georgia State easily won the regularseason title with an impressive 171 conference mark, winning the league by five games. The title was the Panthers first since the 200102 season. The Panthers were selected unanimously by the league s head coaches to repeat as champions this year. Georgia State finished the season 259 and advanced to the Postseason NIT. During the year, Georgia State won a schoolrecord 14straight games and had a stretch of 22 wins in 23 games. RECORD SETTING OPENER Georgia State opened the season with a recordsetting 11555 victory over Tennessee Temple. Here is a look at several of the records that were set: The 60 point margin of victory set a school record, eclipsing the previous mark of 45 set against Piedmont on Dec. 30, 1986. GSU dished out 27 assists (on 40 FGs), setting a school record and eclipsing the previous high of 26 which last occurred in 1992. The 115 points scored represented the fourth most in school history and the most since scoring 109 against UC Irvine in 1998. It is only the fourth time the school scored more than 110 points. Shot 62.5 percent from the floor, the ninthbest mark in school history. Shot 61.9 percent from 3point range, ranked in the top 10 in school history. The 61 second half points tied for the seventhmost in school history and the first time eclipsing the 60point mark since 1998. HUNTER NAMED TO WOODEN WATCH LIST Junior R.J. Hunter was named to the John R. Wooden Preseason Top 50 Watch List as announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Nov. 17. Chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts, the list is comprised of 50 studentathletes who are the early frontrunners for the sport s most prestigious honor. Hunter was an AP AllAmerica honorable mention receipient last season, a finalist for the Lou Henson Award giving to the top midmajor player and recently named to the award s preseason watch list. Hunter is the first Panther in program history to be named to this prestigious list. SCORING RECORD IN JEOPARDY In just two seasons, junior R.J. Hunter put together two of the most impressive scoring output seasons in program history. During his sophomore season he reached the 1,000point plateau in just 55 games, the second quickest in program history. This season he has his eyes set on Georgia State s alltime scoring record of 1,515 points held by Rodney Hamilton. Hunter is currently 11th on the alltime scoring list with 1,195 points, meaning he is just 320 points shy of tying the mark. Last season he scored 604 points, tied for the fourth most in a singleseason in program history. This season he has scored 64 points and is second in the Sun Belt with a 21.3 points per game average. The junior was a part of a squad last year with four 1,000point scorers, one of just three programs in the nation to state that fact in 201314. THE SERIES WITH CHICAGO ST., WCU AND OAKLAND This will mark the first time that Georgia State faces any of the three teams in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic. It will be the fourth, fifth and sixth straight games to start the season against opponents the Panthers have never faced in the 51year history of the program. TOP RANKED PLAYER TIMES TWO Senior Ryan Harrow and junior R.J. Hunter were named to the Lou Henson Award Watch List as announced by CollegeInsider.com. The Panthers are one of just two teams in the country to have two players named to the preseason list. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the Division I MidMajor Player of the Year. The award is named in honor of Henson who retired after a spectacular coaching career that lasted 41 years. A total of 40 players were named to the list this year.

Georgia State Men s Basketball Notes (page 4) HOME SWEET HOME When coach Ron Hunter took over the Panthers, one of the first things he proclaimed was that the GSU Sports Arena would become one of the toughest places in the country. So far, he has been correct. The Panthers are 3610 in the comfy confines of the Sports Arena. Georgia State went 130 at home last season and are 10 at home this season. The 14straight home wins are tied for the 12th longest home court winning streak in the country with Virginia. Duke has won 35 straight home games for the longest streak in the country. In his first season, Hunter s Panthers won 10straight home games and finished the 201112 season 133 in the GSU Sports Arena. The Panthers followed with a 97 mark in 201213. Here are the longest home court winning streaks in school history: 25 22400 to 121202 *3rdlongest streak in nation at time 14 11913 to present (130 during 201314 season) 10 111811 to 12312 (first 10 games of the regular season) 8 1598 to 22498 (last eight games of regular season) WHAT S IN A COLOR Georgia State has three different color jerseys this year, bringing back an alternate black jersey color that had not been worn in several years. No. 26 on the list was Green Bay which the Panthers will play twice this season, while No. 22 was Iowa State also made the list, a team the Panthers fell to on Nov. 17. AMONG THE BEST As the season gets underway, R.J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow have been listed among the top 100 players in college basketball by several publications. It should be no surprise as both were named to the AllSun Belt Preseason FirstTeam and Hunter was name the preseason player of the year. Here is a list and there ranking: Hunter Harrow ESPN 42 57 CBS 28 NR SB Nation 24 80 NBC Sports 30 81 FREE THROW KINGS When it comes to making free throws, Ryan Harrow and R.J. Hunter are two of the three best in school history. In twoplus seasons, Hunter has made 254 of 309 from the line, an 82.2 free throw percentage which ranks second in school history. Hunter shot a schoolrecord 88.2 percent from the line last year which ranked No. 17 in the NCAA. Harrow has made 138 of 168 free throws and with an 82.1 free throw percentage, ranks third alltime in Georgia State history. His mark of 83.9 percent ranked 81st in the NCAA last season. These numbers are of no surprise as head coach Ron Hunter has preached free throw shooting since his arrival. Recent grads Manny Atkins (6th) and Devonta White (10th) are also among the top 10 in school history and played under Hunter. Last season, Akins made 82.4 percent from the line which ranked No. 119 in the nation while White made 80.6 percent which ranked No. 173. GOOD WORKS FOR HUNTER Georgia State junior R.J. Hunter was among the list of nominees for the 2015 Allstate NABC and WBCA Good Works Teams as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the Women s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Allstate Insurance Company. Hunter has been a part of two international trips in the last three years with Samaritan s Feet and also spent time doing community service in the Atlanta community. QUICKEST TO 1,000 R.J. Hunter reached the 1,000point plateau in just 55 games, the 2ndquickest player to reach the accomplishment in Georgia State history. Here is a list of the quickest to get to 1,000career points: 1. Phillip Luckydo... 49 games 2. R.J. Hunter...55 games 3. Chris Collier... 57 games 4. Thomas Terrell... 58 games Ryan Harrow averaged 17.8 points in 34 games last season. He has scored 63 points this year. At his current pace, he would reach 1,000 points in a Georgia State uniform in his 54th game, just eclipsing Hunter for second. LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON...NOT SO FAST Coach Ron Hunter had a very good collegiate career, teaming up with fivetime NBA champion and close friend Ron Harper to lead Miami (Ohio) to three NCAA tournament appearances. In his career, Hunter scored 600 points, a mark that son R.J. surpassed in just his sophomore season alone (604 points). With 1,195 career points, R.J. has trumped his dad, but Ron still owns the title of three NCAA tournament appearances in the mid1980 s. SAY WHAT! Many members of the media have been gushing over the Panthers Big 3 Backcourt of R.J. Hunter, Ryan Harrow and Kevin Ware. Here is what some of them said this offseason: Scott Gleason (USA Today): Georgia State can be one of, if not the best, midmajors in the country, largely thanks to the return of Harrow and the addition of Ware. Interestingly, neither is the best player on the team. That would be R.J. Hunter, a 66 junior, the coach s son and an AllSun Belt performer with NBA potential who averaged 18.3 points and 4.6 rebounds a game. Rob Dauster (NBC Sports): The Panthers back court is absolutely loaded. Ryan Harrow, R.J. Hunter and Kevin Ware are as talented as any group of guards that you ll find at the Division I level. There should be no dropoff from last season s team, the one that went 171 in Sun Belt play, particularly if Ron Hunter can find someone to help Curtis Washington on the interior.

Georgia State Men s Basketball Notes (page 5) Reid Forgrave (Fox Sports 1): Ron Hunter s team might boast a topfive backcourt: his son, sharpshooting NBA prospect R.J. Hunter, is joined by Ryan Harrow the Kentucky transfer who scored 17.8 points per game last season as well as former Louisville guard Kevin Ware, whose famous leg is now healthy. The Panthers ought to win the Sun Belt and could make a run in March, when good guard play dominates. FATHER & SON Ron and R.J. Hunter are actually the second fatherson combo to grace the GSU Sports Arena. Bob Reinhart coached his son Bobby Reinhart from 19871989. Bobby led the team in assists during his senior season. Ron and R.J. are just one of nine pairs of father and son pairs in the NCAA this year. The group includes: Steve & Kory Alford UCLA Steve & Bryce Alford UCLA Todd & Blake Bozeman Morgan State Billy & Billy Donovan Florida Ron & R.J. The Panthers traveled to the Central American country for eight days this past August and played four games against club teams in the country of 4.7 million people. While there, the group also participated in several shoe distributions through Samaritan s Feet. It marked the second trip as a team under head coach Ron Hunter to work with the organization. Two years ago the Panthers went to South Africa. For the last seven years, Hunter has coached one game a year in barefeet to raise awareness for Samaritan s Feet. The game is generally played around the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday as a part of the national day of service. Samaritan s Feet is an organization that provides shoes for underpriviledged children around the world. Their goal is to provide 10 million children with 10 million pairs of shoes in 10 years. 583 AND COUNTING Georgia State has made at least one 3point field goal in 583 straight games, dating back to the 199495 season. The last team to hold the Panthers without a trey was Stetson on Feb. 18, 1995. NEXT UP Georgia State will conclude its fivegame, 10day road trip at IUPUI on Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. It will mark head coach Ron Hunter s first game back in Indy after 17 years at the helm of the program. SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE Georgia State announced the signing of highlytouted Malik Benlevi to National Letter of Intent on the first day of early signing. Benlevi currently plays for Jenkins High School in Savannah, Ga. As a junior, Benlevi was an AllSavannah Morning News firstteam selection after helping the Warriors to a Region 3AAAAA title and to the Class AAAAA semifinals of the state playoffs. The 66 shooting guard and small forward averaged 13.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.2 blocks per game as a junior. Benlevi is ranked the No. 20 senior in Georgia by Hoopseen. com and played AAU ball for the Atlanta Celtics. GOING BAREFOOT Coach Ron Hunter will once again coach a game barefoot in support of Samaritan s Feet during the upcoming season. He currently plans to go barefoot on Jan. 15 against UT Arlington. Hunter always tries to schedule the game as close to the Martin Luther King Jr. observance day. The Panthers are 30 when Hunter has gone without socks and shoes to raise awareness for the 300 million children around the world without shoes. This year will mark the eighth straight year Hunter has gone barefoot for a game. As part of his work with Samaritan s Feet, Georgia State travelled to Costa Rica in August, doing a pair of shoe distributions during its eightday road trip.

Georgia State Men s Basketball Notes (page 7) HEAD COACH RON HUNTER In just his first three seasons at the helm of the Georgia State program, Ron Hunter has restored it to national prominence, averaging more than 20 wins per year and making a pair of postseason appearances. In three years, Hunter has led the program to 62 wins, including two of the three best seasons in program history. The 201314 season was the most special, leading Georgia State to 25 wins, the second most in school history, a Sun Belt regular season championship and an appearance in the Postseason NIT, the Panthers fifth postseason appearance. During the season, the Panthers won a schoolrecord 14straight games, including a stretch of 22 of 23, as Hunter was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year and NABC Region 24 Coach of the Year. During his first season (201112), Georgia State won 22 games, the third most in school history, advancing to the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Hunter has won 336 games in 20 seasons, but the accomplishments made by the 201112 team will always be special for him. After being named head coach on March 21, 2011, he built a squad that finished in the top 20 in the nation in scoring defense, defensive shooting percentage, steals and blocked shots, as six seniors finished their careers triumpently. Following the recordsetting season, Hunter was named Atlanta Tipoff Club Georgia Coach of the Year, while his players earned a recordnumber of conference and national awards. National notoriety is nothing new for Hunter. While at IUPUI, he was lauded for his humanitarian efforts, partnering with Samaritan s Feet, an organization that collects shoes for underprivileged children around the world. While leading IUPUI to 25 or more wins in two of his final four seasons, Hunter began to partner with Samaritan s Feet, an organization that collects shoes for underprivileged children around the world. On Jan. 24, 2008, he coached IUPUI against Oakland in his bare feet to help raise awareness for the cause. Hunter s resume includes numerous national honors including an NABC Guardians of the Game Pillar Award for Service, the 2009 Giant Steps Award from the National Consortium for Academics and Sport (NCAS), and a Minority Achievement Award from the Center for Leadership Development (CLD). Hunter, 50, earned his bachelor s degree in education at Miami in 1986 and added a master s in 1987. He was a standout player on strong Miami teams of the mid1980s, along with high school and college teammate Ron Harper, who went on to a long NBA career. The Redhawks were 8130 during Hunter s fouryear career and earned three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths while winning two MAC championships. Hunter and his wife, Amy, have two children, Jasmine (25) and R.J. (21), a junior on this year s team.
