SERIES: The Blue Hose and Paladins are scheduled to meet four times this season, but prior to this season amazingly they had never met. Furman currently holds the series advantage at 2-0 with their doubleheader sweep of PC on Feb. 20. ON THE RADIO: The 2008 season marks the beginning of a new era of radio for PC softball as it is the first season that new radio flagship Real Radio 860 WLBG will broadcast Blue Hose baseball and softball. The second game of the Furman doubleheader will be the second softball broadcast of the year on the Presbyterian College Sports Network. Overall, it will be the second of six (including doubleheaders) softball games to broadcast by the Presbyterian College Sports Network. The Voice of the Blue Hose, John Avery, will have the call. The games will be able to be heard live on the Internet at WLBG.com or in the Laurens area on Real Radio 860 WLBG. MISS PARKER AND HISTORY: History could be made in PC s doubleheader with Furman. PC first baseman Rachel Parker is looking to break the all-time PC softball single season home run record in her first year with the program. Her next home run will be the new program standard. Parker is currently tied with former Blue Hose standouts Amanda Teal (2004) and Jessica Peterka (2004) for the program lead with eight home runs. RACHEL PARKER CAN'T LOSE: Parker is leading the Blue Hose this season with a.356 (31-of-87) batting average. She has a team-high 18 RBIs and she has scored 13 runs. She has a slugging percentage of.667. Her home run total of eight would

place her atop the Big South Conference in the category. LOOKING TO BREAK THE TREND: The Blue Hose overall are looking to squash a five-game losing streak in their twinbill with Furman. Their last win was in their game one victory over the Buccaneers on Saturday, March 22. The five-game losing streak is the longest in Dave Majeski's two years at the helm of the Blue Hose. GOING LONG: The Blue Hose have 25 home runs on the 2008 season, which would place them first in the Big South Conference. Radford would be second with 22 home runs. In total the Blue Hose have six players with multiple home runs and eight altogether that have recorded a dinger in the 2008 season. ON AVERAGE: PC is averaging 0.81 home runs per game in the 2008 season. The average places them tied for 37th in the category in NCAA Division I. BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE: The Blue Hose are 5-2 on the year in games in which they have hit two or more home runs. HOME SWEET HOME: The Blue Hose are 7-4 on the year in home games. They have two home doubleheader sweeps with sweeps at the PC Softball Complex of North Greenville and Western Carolina. THAT IS A STEAL: One of the things that Dave Majeski harped on when he took over the PC softball program was that he was not going to make it a secret that he was going to play a fast-paced style of softball. Last year's Blue Hose bought into his style, ending the year with the most stolen bases in the South Atlantic Conference. The 2008 Blue Hose currently have 52 steals on the year, which would place them second in the Big South just behind leader Radford, who has 60 steals on the year. Jenny Box leads PC with 11 steals on the year. Her 11 steals would tie her for third in the Big South Conference. STARTING STRONG: PC freshman second baseman Amanda Miller is the only other Blue Hose player other than Parker batting above.300 currently. Miller is currently hitting.313 (30-of-96). She is the team leader currently in extra-base hits with 12 on the season (eight doubles, four home runs). FIRST DI WIN (PC 5, CSU 2 - Feb. 16): Presbyterian College acquired its first win as an NCAA Division I institution with a 5-2 win over Charleston Southern in its first game of the Charlotte Green & White Tournament. Down 1-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning against the Buccaneers, PC outscored Charleston Southern 5-1 over the final three innings to secure its first DI softball victory. PC got things rolling in the fourth when Paige Cassady (Orlando, Fla.) doubled in two runs to give PC its first lead at 2-1. The Blue Hose advanced their lead to 4-1 the next inning with its first two home run inning of the 2008 season. Ashley Ford (Marietta, Ga.) hit her first of the year in the inning to make it 3-1 in favor of PC and then Rachel Parker (Lake City, Fla.) smacked her second of the year to pull PC ahead 5-1 over CSU. In the bottom of the sixth, Katie Anderson (North Augusta, S.C.) came in to pinch hit for Erin Stewart (Marion, S.C.). The move paid off for Dave Majeski s Blue Hose as Anderson singled to right field to bring in Cari Clark (Lafayette, La.), who had opened the inning by being walked. The five runs over the last three innings would

prove to be too much for CSU. The Buccaneers would claim one run back, but PC won its first of the year by the score of 5-2. No Blue Hose finished with more than one hit against CSU, but eight Blue Hose recorded one hit in the win. Mary Gordon (Vernon, Conn.) struck out three batters from the circle en route to her first win of the year. PC FURMAN EARLIER THIS SEASON: Presbyterian College s Rachel Parker went 4-for-5 from the plate on the day in Presbyterian College softball s two losses to Furman on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Pepsi Stadium in Greenville, S.C. The Blue Hose narrowly dropped game one, 1-0, before the Lady Paladins took game two, 10-3. Parker had one double and one RBI to go along with her four hits. She was the only Blue Hose to finish with multiple hits on Wednesday, but Amanda Miller (Orlando, Fla.) was able to pick up two RBIs for PC against Furman. In game one, Furman picked up the only run it would need in the bottom of the fifth inning. Morgan Hughey started the frame with a double to centerfield and moved to third on a groundout. With two outs, Meredith Mielke reached base on an error allowing Hughey to score from third. PC looked as if it would tie the game when it got a leadoff single in the seventh from Parker (Lake City, Fla.) and pinch runner Lindsey Trombley (Ridgeway, S.C.) moved to third with the help of a wild pitch and a passed ball. With one out, PC could not get the tying run in as Furman pitcher Lana Mackey struck out the final two PC batters to secure the Lady Paladin victory. Mary Gordon (Vernon, Conn.) took the loss for the Blue Hose in game one despite allowing no earned runs on two hits while striking out five. In game two, PC started off with a three-run first inning to take an early 3-0 lead. Parker singled to left to bring in PC s first run of the day and make it 1-0 in favor of the Blue Hose. Two batters later Miller doubled to left centerfield to bring in Katie Anderson (North Augusta, S.C.) and Parker. The Blue Hose on top 3-0, Furman answered quickly with a five-run second inning to take a 5-3 advantage. Furman would add a third inning run on a throwing error and plate four more in the bottom of the fourth inning to end the contest scoring 10 unanswered runs. Erin Stewart (Marion, S.C.) suffered the loss for PC in game two, giving up six runs on five hits in two innings. Paige Cassady (Orlando, Fla.) pitched four innings of relief allowing four runs on four hits while walking five. PC HOLD 'EM: The Blue Hose are currently 4-2 on the year in games in which they hold their opponents to two runs or less. DOUBLE IT UP: The Blue Hose have forced their opponents into 11 double plays in 2008. PC's 0.35 double play per game average ties them for 46th in the nation with McNeese State. TAKE THE LEAD: The Blue Hose are currently 8-1 on the 2008 season in games in which they own the lead after the end of the sixth inning. Broken down that means that entering the Furman doubleheader PC has won eight of its nine games by taking the lead into the final frame of regulation. LOOKING FOR NUMERO UNO: PC is still looking for its first triple of the 2008 season. THE PALADINS: Furman is currently 13-16 on the 2008 season. The Paladins are 6-4 at home (including 2-0 against PC), but they are 4-7 on the road. Furman is 3-5 in neutral site contests to make them 7-12 on the year in contests away from Pepsi Stadium.

HEAD COACH DAVE MAJESKI Dave Majeski will be the head coach to lead the Blue Hose into NCAA Division I Softball. Entering his second season at the helm of the PC Softball program, Majeski guided the Blue Hose to a 30-16 record in his first season in charge of the Blue Hose. The 30 wins marked the fourth time in PC's 10-year softball history that the Blue Hose had won 30 or more games in a season. Majeski came to Presbyterian after a one-year stint at Memphis where he helped the Tigers to a 28-26 record in their inaugural campaign. Prior to his time with Memphis, Majeski spent three years as an assistant softball coach at his alma mater, the University of Florida. Majeski, who began his time with Florida as a volunteer assistant in 2001 before being promoted to a full-time position shortly thereafter, was responsible for instructing the Gators in hitting and fielding, while also serving as the recruiting coordinator. A Gator baseball alum, Majeski concluded his illustrious career with Florida owning a.322 career batting average. Majeski still holds a spot in the top 10 in five Gator career offensive categories. He is second all-time in Florida baseball annals in games played with 242. Majeski played in the outfield for Florida from 1989-92 and was a member of the 1991 Florida team that placed third in the College World Series and claimed the Southeastern Conference tournament crown. An All-SEC performer during his senior year, Majeski was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers after his senior year. It marked the second time that he had been tabbed in the Major League Baseball Entry Draft as he was selected in the 34th round by the Indians after his junior campaign.

HEAD COACH DAVE MAJESKI Majeski graduated from Florida in 1994 with a degree in exercise and sports science. He began his coaching career as the head baseball coach at Eastside High School in Gainesville, Fla. He coached for three years (1995-98) before moving on to become the head man at Santa Fe High School in Alachua, Fla. During his four years (1998-2001) with Santa Fe, Majeski led the squad to four consecutive district championships and was the Gainesville Sun s Coach-of-the-Year in 1998.
