Waverley Victory FC News Support WVFC become a Gold Sponsor 4th Edition Follow the club @ Date of Issue : 1st May 2012 WVFC President s Message : Hi everyone, hope you re all well. The season kicked off with a bang and watching the kids play on weekends, having fun and doing their best brings a massive smile to my face and yours too I bet. It s been a hectic last few weeks since we last spoke. Brad Thomas, our Football Coordinator ran our Coaches workshop prior to season start and recently organised our first Coaches practical training sessions (coach the coach) of the year. I heard some coaches found the drills a bit hard on their fitness! As a result of the coaches workshop we ll soon share our WVFC Football Philosophy document that I recommend you all read including the kiddies. Thanks to all coaches, new and old, for participating, your input is invaluable. Karen Zsolt also successfully ran our Team Manager workshop prior to season start to ensure all TMs were ready and prepared. At the workshop, Denise Forster kindly volunteered to be our Team Managers Coordinator. Well done Denise and thanks to all TM s for attending. The Saturday morning program started smoothly thanks to Corrado Gismondi and his team. If you re free on a Saturday morning please come down and see the little ones play and enjoy a coffee at Café Victory, aptly named by Corrado himself! A major highlight was attending the Monash City Council Sporting Awards at the Monash Gallery of Art. Our club was nominated for sporting club of the year together with 12 others. We were the only football club (round ball) nominated, a great honour given the size of Monash. Well done Angelique and Carly for putting an excellent event. Look out for a visit by Melbourne Victory players at training later this month. Check out their website/ facebook pages for the latest news! You may have noticed the sporting awards, Coaches have been handing out each week for player of the week. A big thanks to COLD ROCK at Pinewood for providing the awards. Enjoy your free ice cream treat kids and don t forget to mention our club when you visit Ray and the gang at Cold Rock on Blackburn Rd, Mt Waverley. If you re interested in supporting the club or an individual player via our player sponsorship board coming soon, please give me a call or come over for a chat. I d also like to personally thank those who are assisting in the canteen. We desperately need some more good barista s to help in there so if you have any experience please come forward and help or train anyone willing to learn. You may have noticed our Mission Statement in the clubrooms, please have a read. Your feedback on the newsletter has been very positive, please give Darren a pat on the back for doing such a great job and if any of you out there are budding journalists, I m sure he d appreciate some help. Kids welcome too. Well that s it for me, enjoy the week, see you at Café Victory and remember it s not my club, its OUR CLUB. Yours in football, John Petridis IMPORTANT DATES : Jun 30 : Trivia Night (See Page 4) Sep 16 : Presentation Night Saturday SSF Parents: We hope the kids are enjoying the Saturday program, it is great to see them in the fantastic uniforms running around over the last two weeks. Thank you to Lance, Mathew and Warrick for assisting Corrado with coaching. Please help out in the canteen, from the sounds that are coming through the window, it is a fun time for all those who get involved. An extra special thanks to Nic and Mark Struik for making Bibs for that fit our new smallish players, a fantastic job. Many thanks from the WVFC Committee Thank you COLD ROCK Mt Waverley for providing our team s with a player of the day each and every game day. COLD ROCK is located at Shop 1, 407 Blackburn Road, Mount Waverley Please support their generosity

WVFC Treasurer s Message : Hello Everyone, FIXTURE UPDATE The 2012 season has started with quite a few fixture changes for the Club. It is normal for fixture movement at the start of a season but this year has seen more changes than normal. This year the FFV has tried a new initiative to encourage more clubs / teams to register, and while the initiative has worked for team entry numbers, it has brought with it a number of additional challenges for the FFV Competitions Department. Our fixtures have now settled down, although we strongly recommend that all Team Managers continue to regularly check your fixtures. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this very busy time. SAFETY REMINDER Remember to drive at car park speed when entering and exiting the car parks; there has been a couple of near misses. Parents, please ensure that your children DO NOT play in the car parks. DO NOT run on the concrete area outside the clubrooms or on the asphalt in the car parks whilst wearing soccer boots; soccer boots are not designed for these surfaces. With warm regards, Karen Zsolt Enjoy the Great Coffee!!
