Light Motion When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding apprentice Ms O. Pickering stated that her mount settled in a rearward position as expected and was inclined to overrace behind the moderate tempo set in the early and middle stages. Ms Pickering stated that her mount raced wide from the 1400m and she commenced to improve on the gelding from the 600m. Ms Pickering stated that her mount ground its way to the line however was unable to make any significant ground on the leaders in the straight. Stewards advised Ms Pickering that when the tempo of the race was moderate in the early and middle stages, and her mount was inclined to overrace in a wide position without cover, it would have been better served being able to stride forward to lead the event and dictate terms on the rail. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Prince Albert Eased after improving onto heels approaching the 600m. RACE 3: Benchmark 50 Handicap 1000m: Dashing Win When questioned regarding the performance of the mare jockey M. Paget stated that his mount enjoyed a comfortable run behind the leaders throughout the early and middle stages. M. Paget added that when he asked his mount to sprint at the entrance to the straight it failed to respond strongly and in his opinion did not appreciate the significant weight increase, on recent starts, it was required to carry today. Approaching the 200m was eased when disappointed for a run and obliged to shift out around heels to continue to improve. Shifted out over the final 100m. When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding from the entrance to the straight to approaching the 200m jockey B. Looker stated that his mount can not sustain a long sprint and he has found that it is best ridden when nursed along to the 200m before sprinting to the line. A review of the geldings previous runs support B. Lookers assessment. RACE 5: Maiden Handicap 1400m: Bold Temptation Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages. Jacaranda Prince Hung in over the final 150m. Trainer Mr A. Parramore was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners. Liberty Tree Approaching the 1000m was momentarily steadied from the heels of Sacred Water which shifted in. Jockey C. Franklin (Sacred Water) was issued reprimand (AR137(a)). More Desire Raced wide in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination of the mare, which was beaten 28.06L, did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr W. Gavenlock was advised that the mare is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. Real Hype Inclined to lay in over the final 100m. Shark Creek Inclined to hang out in the middle stages. Eased out when awkwardly placed on heels shortly after straightening. Ran inwards over the final 100m. That s Lovely Raced wide in the early and middle stages. RACE 6: Casino Cup 1400m: Belflyer Unable to improve between the 500m and 400m when held up on heels. Bumped approaching the 200m. Near the 150m was obliged to ease out around heels to continue to improve. 3
Counter Meal Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Inclined to lay out in the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding jockey Ms C. Schmidt stated that the leaders set a quick tempo in the middle stages and she travelled approximately 5 lengths behind them, confident they would weaken over the latter stages of the event. Ms Schmidt stated that passing the 500m she hoped to improve into the event however was unable to do so when her mount was inclined to lay out when racing in restricted room. Ms Schmidt stated that her mount failed to sprint strongly on straightening and was inclined to lay out down the straight. Ms Schmidt stated her mount raced flat and in her opinion did not appreciate a significant weight increase today and significant travel associated with recent starts. Ms Schmidt added she did not believe her mount appreciated the tight turning circuit today. When questioned, trainer Mr P. Butterworth stated that the gelding races best on the pace and in his opinion was allowed to get too far out of its ground in the middle stages. Mr Butterworth added the gelding was unable to sprint under its heavy weight impost. Mr Butterworth stated the gelding would be spelled immediately. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Hope Island Slow to begin. Overraced fiercely approaching the first turn. Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Neurum Road Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Not Wanted Eased from heels shortly after the start. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Ran wide rounding the home turn. Schopenhauer (NZ) When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding, particularly racing half a length outside the leader setting a fast tempo, apprentice Ms C. Graham stated that her mount established a position directly outside the leader Landmarks in the early stages and she continually attempted to restrain her mount to take sit back off that runner however her mount pulled fiercely and she was unable to do so. Ms Graham stated that passing the 1000m rather than continuing to fight her mount she elected to allow it to stride forward with the intention of leading the event on the rail however the rider of Landmarks would not relinquish its position and kept improving to her mounts inside resulting in a fast tempo being set in the middle stages. Chateauroux When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of the gelding trainer Mr P. Evans stated that it has had genuine excuses in the four starts since racing well at Coffs Harbour on 3 June 2017. Mr Evans stated that two of the starts were on heavy tracks of which the gelding does not appreciate. Mr Evans stated that at the geldings start at Lismore on 22 July 2017 it was obliged to race back and very wide on a track that is typically leader biased and at its most recent start the gelding did not appreciate the shifty track conditions. Mr Evans stated that today the gelding appreciated racing forward on a dry racing surface. Eagle Stryke Eased after improving onto heels rounding the home turn. Myboycellito Raced wide in the early stages. Pat s Destiny Approaching the 700m was steadied after improving onto heels. Spun Dry Eased from heels approaching the 1300m.
