f r o m t h e G e n e r a l M a n a g e r Jeff Wilson General Manager As you know, an all member meeting was held on January 14th. During this meeting, the advisory committee and I reviewed the club s 2014 objectives and accomplishments. In summary, these included the following: Positive member growth that allowed us to close to public play on Saturdays. Getting back to charging an initiation fee. Increased involvement of the Advisory Committee in determining club priorities. Increased number of golf tournaments and events for members. Establishing a capital reserve fund for long-term improvements. Initial feasibility study of expanding Madelena s. 34 new golf carts and the refurbishment on 46 others. Parking lot restoration and striping and the entry way beautification. With a new year ahead of us, here is a summary of our 2015 plans & objectives. Dues for 2015 As a result of increasing costs in the operating budget related to three areas; (1) Increase in payroll costs by 3.1% due to the minimum wage increase and a small cost of living increase for the staff [$54K], (2) Payroll related expenses are going up 3.4% [$11K] as well as the new sick leave bill coming 7/1/15 [$10K], and (3) other operating expenses are rising 5.9% [$59K]. With all of that said, dues will increase $20.00 for Family memberships, $17.00 for Single memberships and $5.00 for Social memberships. These increases will offset 50% of the general increases. The other 50% will come from increases in tournament fees, public play, and private events. 2015 Objectives 25 net new golf members 50 new social members Improved communication and services to members; A more timely newsletter, increased use of the web, i.e. online tee times (March), upgrade Wi-Fi system And here is the big one...the expansion of Madelena s will begin in May. Project to expand Madelena s Adding an additional 1200 sq. ft. Club owners are paying for the project. Key Features Additional 60 seats for a total of 120 people Family dining area and a Bar & Grill Walk-up window for food orders for future use Lot s of TV s Outside seating with a fire pit and water feature Professional scoreboard for tournaments. Acoustic improvements to abate noise levels Status Construction drawings are being prepared by Comstock Johnson Hired Harvey Construction as General Contractor for the project Currently obtaining bids on construction costs Permits from City of Lincoln April 1st Estimate ground breaking by May 1st Completion by October 1st Click Here To See The Design!! With the help of our staff, the advisory committee, and all members, we can make 2015 the best year the club has seen.

AC Corner February 2015 As we begin 2015, we wanted to again remind everyone that the Advisory Committee is established to be your representatives to the Club. Our goal is to represent the voice of our membership in order to help the Club in establishing and reaching goals around membership growth, course improvements, and in continually improving the experience of our members. We encourage you to reach out and talk to any of the AC members if you have an idea or a concern. For 2015, the Advisory Committee is comprised of the following members: Dan Dimick, Chair Roy Fernandez, Past Chair Sandra Bailey Lorraine Christensen Craig Gandy Jeff Sousa Debbie Waymire Larry Welch New Code of Conduct At the All Member meeting in January, one of the topics covered was the Code of Conduct. As was discussed the Code was developed to establish expectations of members and guests as it relates to behavior when at the Club. It is a common practice to have such a code in place particularly as our membership grows and the potential for inappropriate behavior between members, or members and staff increases. Fortunately, these incidents are rare but we need to have a process to address them when they occur. As you know, we do have a Grievance Committee and augmenting this process with the Code of Conduct will help ensure an effective way to address specific concerns. It is also important to realize that out of respect to our members, each incident is dealt with in a private manner and as such is not broadly communicated. What follows is a copy of the Code of Conduct. You can also access this on the membership side of the Catta Verdera webpage by logging in and clicking on Code of Conduct. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to Jeff or any member of the Advisory Committee. Continued on next page...

...AC Corner Continued CATTA VERDERA COUNTRY CLUB (CVCC): CODE OF CONDUCT This Code of Conduct has been developed to ensure a safe, friendly and respectful place for members, visitors, and staff. The Code of Conduct is not intended to create a bureaucratic, regulatory environment, but rather is developed in the spirit of cooperation, and with the understanding that we all want a Club that is friendly and safe. The Code of Conduct addresses acceptable/unacceptable behaviors. All members, guests, and visitors, are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that: Creates an environment and culture that is reflective of the personal integrity and respect taught in the rules of golf where it is written that we are capable of enforcing rules upon ourselves with honesty, integrity and good sportsmanship. This same integrity, honesty and good will are expected whether on the golf course, in Quixote s, or any other area on CVCC property. Acknowledges CVCC as a family friendly environment and, therefore, refrains from using obscenities and loud boisterous behavior inappropriate for children and good taste. Observes proper etiquette on and off the course; in and around the buildings and property at CVCC. Is reflective of being an Ambassador for CVCC when out in the community, at other clubs and/or at CVCC. Shows the utmost respect and dignity to fellow members, staff and visitors. Does not damage the character, integrity, good will, property and community view (local and/or the broader community) of CVCC and/or staff. Is reflective of an adherence to ALL club rules including the following: Sign in procedures in the Pro Shop Safe operation of carts in designated areas ONLY Obeying guidelines concerning the areas on which carts are not allowed off the cart paths (i.e. par 3s and #12 for safety reasons) Limiting the playing of music on the golf course to the foursome that you are playing with and only with the consent of all players. Using cell phones with respect to other golfers and members in the area. Taking pride in the physical appearance of CVCC as it is reflective of you the member. Dressing in a manner befitting a Club of our standing and following the CVCC dress code. Demonstrates an understanding that members and visitors have no authority to instruct staff in job performance. Does not denigrate, or talk down to staff members, general membership and/or does not misrepresent their position and/or authority to others. Understands that purchased alcoholic beverages must be served by a Club employee only. Any member or guest may be denied further bar service at the discretion of the bartender or Manager on duty. Is vigilant in reporting real or perceived safety hazards to staff and/or club management. Understands that the membership through the Advisory Committee may make suggestions and/or directives to club management regarding the operation of the Club.

The Troubadour Champion team will be the Low Gross and Low Net Team. We hope to fill the field so please sign-up a team. Entries will be accepted starting Feb. 15th. Entry Fee: $210/team

Catta Driving Range Upgrade The driving range will be going through a transition. in the near future! We will be adding the Laser Link rangefinders. Each tier will have at least three rangefinders strategically placed to allow all players to get the yardage from a particular location on the driving range. We are also going to install PVC pipe in the target greens that will be striped with colored tape and reflective tape. The upgrades will greatly improve the quality of the driving range as they will allow players to know the exact yardage from their practice location. New Flagsticks Out on the course, we are going to be adding new flagsticks with the reflectors built into the stick. This is a great benefit for those who like the LaserLink product. We will be selling them in the golf shop beginning February 15th, so if you are interested stop by and check them out. Trees on the Course Ram and his Turf Care team has been busy this offseason getting the course ready for the great weather that CVCC is famous for. Unfortunately, we lost the tree on hole #8 during one of our early rain storms. Two trees were planted to insure that at least one will thrive. On hole number 13 an Oak was planted to help frame the hole better. Though the tree will not necessarily come into play it will help the golfer be directed toward the middle of the green. On hole 14, there is three trees just above the water line on the left side just beyond the left fairway bunker. These trees will bring back the original design of the hole and will also stop golf balls from going into the water hazard. Ram and Brett have done a great job in getting these trees planted and treated with fertilizer that will give them the best chance to take hold and thrive. Quixote s has a NEW Breakfast Menu! We serve breakfast all day starting at 9am on Sundays so come in and enjoy our Bacon Bloody Mary s, Mimosas or the new Pesto Turkey Florentine. There are many more new items to choose from including Caramelized Apple Stuffed French Toast and the Catta Verdera exclusive Hole-in-One. See you there! ACERS ALERT Congratulations!! Congratulations to Michelle Helzer for her Hole-In-One on January 2, 2015 on hole #17 from 133 yards. This is her first Hole-In-One...what a great way to start a new year! Congratulations to Debbie Ahlstrom! Debbie s hole-in-one was on January 31st on hole #6. For those of you in the HIO Club, you still have time to stop by Quixote s by February 6th to get your drink.

Ramiro Sena Course Superintendent Superintendent s Update I want to thank you for all the positive comments we have received regarding the addition of the Oak Trees on holes #8, #13 and #14. The Turf Care staff was very busy trying to get it done before the weather turned. Our goal was to install a native tree that would thrive in the different soil conditions. We chose a Cork Oak and a Valley Oak on hole #8. When the one on #8 came down we made a decision to plant two different varieties instead of one. This will increase the survival rate potential. The trees on #13 were desperately needed as they frame the hole the way it was originally designed. This architecture guides you to strategically work the ball from right to left to a back pin placement (for the avid golfer). We planted a Valley oak and a Live oak to give it more density. Hole #14 has been the hardest due to the existing underground water paths coming down from the development and ponds above the hole. We planted them on the hill side to prevent root rotting from the wet area. We chose three trees here; Live Oak, Valley Oak and a Cork Oak. I hope that at least one will make it on each location. Our goal with this project was to make an impact the way the hole looks, but not to the score. Thank you for your ongoing support! ~Your Turf Care department.
