NEGMC Pony Tales Winter 2013 Vol. 2013 Issue 4 Happy New Year! Club After Christmas Party January 18 th 1-5PM White Elephant Exchange After the holidays, let's get the Mustangs back out and show off the new goodies we got for them at the club after Christmas party. It will be held on Saturday January 18th at Keith and Deb Corkern's home in Braselton from 1-5. If you need directions, I have emailed them out to the membership. The club will provide meat, bread, fixings for sandwiches, and drinks. Members are asked to bring their favorite side and/or dessert. We will eat first, then hold our meeting, and then have our white elephant gift exchange, see pictures to left from 2013. To properly plan the quantity of food to order, we do need rsvp's from those that are planning to attend. Please email me with your rsvp, and the number in your party by Sunday January 5th. Stan s New Drawers After shopping spree at Walmart Toys 4 Tots Drop Off & December Meeting We held our annual toy purchase at the Cleveland Walmart and drop off at Jacky Jones Ford on December 7 th. As you can see from the pictures to the left, we had a great time as always, we were able to purchase $2,900 of toys plus the toys collected at our show at Mustangs Unlimited in October. We held our December meeting at Jacky Jones after the drop off, then caravanned over to Hawg Wild in Clarkesville for a late lunch. We had a great turnout for this worthwhile cause, I counted 20 cars that turned out at the Walmart, and 40 people at lunch. Thanks Debra Ramey for helping us out at Walmart and supplying your employee discount to make the $ stretch even further. NEGMC Pony Tales Looking Back Winter 2013 Page 3 We had our October meeting at Vogel State Park. We ate hamburgers, hot dogs, and all kinds of other goodies, then had our meeting. After the meeting several of us took a pony run across Hwy 180 and the Richard Russell Scenic Highway, stopping for the views a couple of times before heading home. On the way to the meeting, we also ran the section of 180 between Suches and 129, which is a great drive, unless of course you re following a slow Harley. Good company; good food. Toys 4 Tots Show/Moonshine Fest. We held our Toys 4 Tots show at Mustangs Unlimited on October 19 th. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and the turnout was light. We still gathered a table full of toys and had a great time. Several of us went up to the shows at the Moonshine festival on both days. Many nice cars, several awards for club cars both days, and who can forget the fried pies and other good eats, right Kenny? Saturdays Awards at the Moonshine Festival Welcome to Our New Members JD & Yuling Chansard Lawrenceville 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca Elliot & Sue Sande Gainesville 1991 5.0 Coupe & several Chevys Chad & Caitlyn Ferguson Cleveland 2008 GT Coupe Kevin Evans Winder 2006 Convertible, 1980 Pinto wagon Interestly, JD is a native of France, and a member of a French Mustang Club that is planning to attend the 50 th Mustang birthday party in Charlotte. They are flying into Atlanta, renting some Mustangs, and touring Atlanta and the surrounding areas. JD is putting together an itinerary, so as we get closer to April, and they firm up their plans, we will be trying to find an evening where we can meet them for dinner, maybe some good bbq, and give them the opportunity to see some of our Mustangs.

Winter 2013 NEGMC Pony Tales Looking Forward Page 4 Spring Pony Roundup The date has been set for our Spring Pony Roundup show at Mustangs Unlimited. It is on Saturday March 15 th from 10-4 with a rain date of Sunday March 16th. Members will need to be there by 8:30 to help setup for the show. This show helps fund our activities during the year, and also adds to what we can donate to charity during the year. So come out and give us a hand, and show your car. 50 th Mustang Birthday Party in Charlotte This celebration of the 50 th anniversary of the date Mustang first went on sale is scheduled for April 17 th -20 th, 2014 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway. At least 12-15 club members/couples are planning on attending the Charlotte event. Close hotels are hard to find, so if you want to go, check the MCA website for help with hotel suggestions. They will cut off car registration on 3/1/14, make sure you register by then. This is not a carshow, there will be no judging, but you can register for an award of excellence if you have won an award at a MCA event in 2012 or 2013, cut off for registering for awards is 2/28/14. There is track time available, both drag & road course, many vendors are planning to attend, I would expect to see many more vendors than at a MCA national. Check www.mustang.org or call Rick at 678-371-5799 for more info. MCA National Savannah October 10-12 th As we get closer to events that you would like to attend as a club, please let me know, and I will help you put together a cruise to the event. Previous Spring Pony Roundup http://www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebration.com Other Club Activities We are planning a meeting in early to mid February at Rick & Cher s house to start planning the 2014 Maggie Valley show, this will not be a club meeting, but decisions made at this planning session will be vetted at the next club meeting. If you are interested in being more active in the show planning, please let me know and we will try to come up with a date that works for everyone. An interest has been expressed in having club antenna flags made up for display on our cars at shows. Cher is working on finding a vendor and getting a cost for our next meeting. We would sell these to members at cost, and keep some in club stock.
