Foam proportioner. b). Hose and nozzle compatible with eductor. c). Two buckets of foam concentrate. 2. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise. "The candidate, wearing protective equipment and provided the necessary equipment and foam concentrate, shall demonstrate setting up an in-line proportioner and generating foam through a hose line and nozzle." Adjusts proportioner to proper percentage as recommended. 7. Attaches proportioner to discharge outlet and attaches hose and nozzle to eductor. 8. JPR Task: ontrol Pressurized LP Gas ylinder Fire andidate # Skill No. 2-5 RITERIA AND INSTRUTIONS 1. andidate shall be provided with a Flammable gas cylinder fire, monitored according to NFPA 1406. 2. andidate shall be provided two (2) 1-1/2" or larger charged hand lines equipped with fog nozzles. 3. andidate shall be accompanied by 4 assistants, two (2) on each hand line. 4. andidate shall serve as command, between lines, directing operations. 5. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise. "The candidate, in full PPE with SBA and given a crew and 2 hand lines, shall direct the approach and operations to control a flammable gas fire, reduce the likelihood of BLEVE, and to shut off the main gas valve." JPR Task: Protect Evidence of Fire ause and Origin andidate # Skill No. 2-6 RITERIA AND INSTRUTIONS 1. andidate shall be provided with a location and props in which to perform this skill. 2. andidate shall be supplied with a notebook, camera, cardboard boxes, plastic sheeting, evidence marking flags and barricade tape. 3. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise. "The candidate shall demonstrate, using the supplies and scenario provided, the proper method of locating and securing evidence for later collection." Minimum PPE: Full PPE without SBA. andidate must complete this skill within 20 minutes to pass. YES NO 1. Identifies need to barricade area from entry by unauthorized persons. 2. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise. "The candidate, wearing full protective clothing w/helmet and eye protection, shall demonstrate the proper set-up and use of hydraulic rescue spreaders. Assistant may only be used to operate the hydraulic pump." Minimum PPE: Full PPE without SBA. andidate must complete this skill within 10 minutes to pass. YES NO 1. Inspects spreaders, hose and components for damage. 2. Positions the hydraulic pump outside the work area, within reach of hoses. 3. Ensures safety goggles in place, face shield down and wears gloves. 4. onnects spreader tool to the pump unit, ensures snug connections. 5. Gains control of the spreaders, ensuring hoses out of way. 6. loses spreader arms fully by activating in LOSE direction. 7. Inserts tips of spreader, at the proper angle, into the object to be spread. 8. Disconnects the spreader unit from the power unit. 12. Returns spreaders and all components to proper storage. JPR Task: Set up and Operate Hydraulic Rescue Shears andidate # Skill No. 2-8 RITERIA AND INSTRUTIONS 1. andidate shall be provided with safety goggles and the following: a) Hydraulic shears/cutters. b) Vehicle-mounted, motor-driven or hand-operated hydraulic pump. 2. andidate shall be provided with an assistant and a prop for demonstrating. 3. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise. "The candidate, wearing full protective clothing w/helmet and eye protection, shall demonstrate the proper set-up and use of hydraulic rescue shears. Assistant may only be used to operate the hydraulic pump." Minimum PPE: Full PPE without SBA. andidate must complete this skill within 10 minutes to pass. YES NO 1. Inspects shears, hose and components for damage. 2. Positions the hydraulic pump outside the work area, within reach of hoses. 3. Ensures safety goggles in place, face shield down and wears gloves. 4. onnects shears/cutters to the pump unit, ensures snug connections. 5. Gains control of the shears, ensuring hoses out of way. 6. Opens blades fully by activating in OPEN direction. 7. Grasps work to be cut, at the proper angle, well back into the blades. 8. loses the blades by activating in the LOSE direction. 9. Repeats steps 6-8, to make additional cuts as necessary. 10. Removes shear blades from the work and closes blades. 11. Disconnects the shears/cutter from the power unit. 12. JPR Task: Set up and Operate a Remote Hydraulic Jack andidate # Skill No. 2-9 RITERIA AND INSTRUTIONS 1. andidate shall be provided with a flat board or steel plate, safety goggles and the following: Hydraulic jack device and pump, cribbing 2. andidate shall be provided with 2 assistants and a prop for demonstrating. 3. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise. "The candidate, wearing full protective clothing w/helmet and eye protection, shall demonstrate the proper set-up and use of a hydraulic jack. Assistants may only be used to place cribbing and operate the hydraulic pump." Minimum PPE: Full PPE without SBA. andidate must complete this skill within 20 minutes to pass. YES NO 1. Assesses for a solid, flat jacking surface. 2. Ensures safety goggles in place, face shield down and wears gloves. 3. Places board or plate where jack base will sit and shims level. 4. Inspects jack, hose and components for damage. 5. Positions the hydraulic pump outside the work area. 6. onnects hydraulic hose to pump source, ensures tight connections. 7. Positions jack under solid area of load, fully retracted, holding by the sides. 8. loses pressure relief valve. 9. Directs pump operator to begin the lift. 10. Directs cribbing be stacked in a crosshatch formation under load during lift. 11. Sufficient cribbing is used to support the load. 12. Upon completion of lift, retracts jack to allow load to rest on cribbing. 13. Lowers the load by safely releasing pressure. 14. Removes the cribbing, piece by piece, as load is lowered. 15. Once load is fully down, removes the hydraulic pump. 16. andidate constantly monitors the load for shift during all operations. 17. Disconnects components and returns all equipment to proper storage. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise. "The candidate, wearing full protective clothing w/helmet and eye protection, shall demonstrate the proper set-up and use of a hydraulic extension ram. Assistant may only be used to operate the hydraulic pump." Minimum PPE: Full PPE without SBA. 1. Inspects the ram, hose and components for damage. 2. Positions the hydraulic pump outside the work area, within reach of hoses. 3. Ensures safety goggles in place, face shield down and wears gloves. 4. onnects ram unit to the pump unit, ensures snug connections. 5. Gains control of the ram by the handles, ensuring hoses out of way. 6. Places ram securely between the objects to be separated. 7. Extends the ram arms, at the proper angle, by activating in the EXTEND direction. 8. When desired extension is made, ceases activation. Places in OFF or NEUTRAL. 9. Retracts the arms fully by activating in the RETRAT direction. 10 Disconnects the ram from the power unit. 11. Removes the ram from the work, uses handles only. 12. JPR Task: Remove Auto Glass (Laminated or Tempered) andidate # Skill No. 2-11 RITERIA AND INSTRUTIONS 1. andidate shall be provided with safety glasses or goggles and the following: a). A motor vehicle or simulation with an occupant (mannequin) and cribbing material. b). Blanket or tarp and spine board to protect victim. c). Reciprocating saw, hand saw, other cutting device or punch device to remove glass. 2. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise. "The candidate, with assistant and wearing full protective clothing and eye protection, shall demonstrate the proper removal of a windshield, side or rear glass from a motor vehicle." Minimum PPE: Full PPE without SBA. andidate is directed which vehicle glass to remove. 1. onfirm order with the officer for the rescue operation 2. andidate removes glass properly using acceptable techniques. 3. Assess area for fire/explosion hazards, verbalizes precautions to be taken. (Suppression equipment, etc.) 4. Glass removal avoids causing further hazards or injuries. JPR Task: Remove Vehicle Door andidate # Skill No. 2-12 RITERIA AND INSTRUTIONS 1. andidate shall be provided with safety glasses or goggles, vehicle cribbing and the following: a). A motor vehicle or simulation with an occupant (mannequin) and blanket or tarp. c). Kelly or Halligan tool or pry bar and Hydraulic spreaders with power unit. d). An assistant in protective clothing. 2. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise. "The candidate, wearing full protective clothing and eye protection, shall demonstrate the proper removal of a motor vehicle door." Minimum PPE: Full PPE without SBA. 1. onfirm order with officer to remove vehicle door 2. Plan the operation before starting work. (Method of Removal & Restraint Systems) 3. Isolate the door from other systems if necessary. (Disconnect battery) 4. Prepare the area of operation of spreaders 5. Insert the spreader's tips between door and pillar aligned square with pressure points 6. Operate the spreaders until door is separated from hinges/locking mechanism. 7. JPR Task: Displace Vehicle Dashboard andidate # Skill No. 2-15 RITERIA AND INSTRUTIONS 1. andidate shall be provided with safety glasses or goggles, cribbing and the following: a). A motor vehicle or simulation with a driver (mannequin). Vehicle to be pre-stabilized and roof removed or rolled back. b). Both forward most doors to be pre-removed. d). Hydraulic shears and two hydraulic extension rams with power unit and two rocker panel ram chocks. 2. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise. "The candidate, with assistance and wearing full protective clothing and eye protection, shall demonstrate the proper method of performing a dashboard displacement (rollup) of a motor vehicle." Minimum PPE: Full PPE without SBA. 1. onfirm order with officer to displace the dashboard 2. Plan the operation before starting work by determining the method of removing roof and positioning equipment. 3. Remove windshield 4. Directs team to move or remove roof. 5. Makes relief cuts in A post or rocker panel at base of post on each side of vehicle. (Relief cut is no more than half way through post or rocker panel) 6. Positions the extension rams or other tools to move dashboard. 7. Operates tools until dashboard is moved clear of passengers. 8. Places cribbing or block in relief cut to hold dashboard in displaced position on each side. 9. Remove the tools by relieving pressure.
