County Happenings Shooting Sports Safety-Safety classes will be held on February 22 from 6pm-9pm and February 23 from 9am-12pm at the Callaway County Extension Office. You need to attend both classes if this is your 1st year in shooting sports or if you are 8-10 years old it is recommended to take 2 times. Please email Lori Davis at shanekalymom@gmail.com if you have questions. This is for all shooting sports disciplines! 4-H 5K Fun/Run-Our 4th Annual 5K Fun/Run will be April 6th, 2019. Workers will be needed-sign up genius will be coming out in the next week with shifts for that day. Vet. Science Project The 1st Vet. Science meeting will be on Feb. 17 from 2-4pm at the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center. Email Stephanie Gilliam at gilliamsn@missouri.edu if you would like to attend. KTIS Dinner-The Kingdom Telephone Dinner will be March 9 at North Callaway High School and 4-H will be serving the meal. Please see you club leader to see if workers are needed from your clubs or if homemade pies will be needed for the event. If you are working remember to have your hair pulled back and/or a hat wear a 4-H shirt if you have one. Show Me Quality Assurance-Mark your calendars for SMQA training at the Callaway Extension Center on March 5 at 6pm. All 4-H members that are in an animal project or hams, and bacon need to attend 2 years in a row and again at 14. Please RSVP to the Extension Office so we have materials and snacks available. rohrbachs@missouri.edu. April 25 will be Audrain County SMQA please call Audrain Extension Office if this date works better for you. Beef Fitting Clinic-The Chuck McCullough Fitting Clinic will be held at the CYE grounds on April 26-28. Information flyer and registration form are attached. Livestock Judging Spin Club-Stephanie Murphy will be doing a livestock judging SPIN club. The meetings will be at the Callaway County Extension Office. Regional Happenings Cole County Shooting Sports Safety Cole County s shooting sports safety dates are Sunday, March 3 at 3pm, Sunday March 17 at 3pm, & Wednesday, April 3 at 6pm at Hawthorne Bank in Jefferson City. Mizzou Trap Academy-Mizzou Trap Academy is June 20 22 at Prairie Grove (same place as the state shooting sports match events held in September. You must be 14 years old in 4-H years and available to come to 2 out of 3 trainings, Counselor Camp, and Callaway County s week at Camp Clover Point. April 1 is the deadline for ordering tickets. Families that want to be seated together need to send their order forms together in the same envelope. Information and order forms are attached at the end of the newsletter. MOVE Across Missouri This project is now open in 4-H online. Please register by Feb.1 for the competition. Project # H775. For more information about 4-H MOVE visit - http://4h.missouri.edu/4hmove/main National Youth Summit on Photography Skills & Careers-The National Youth Summit on Photography Skills & Careers is a national conference for high school students, grades 9 through 12. It s designed for both the casual and experienced photographer. Register and find out more information at www.nationalyouthsummits.org. Registration closes on February 8th. State Horse Judging-Saturday, February 23, 2019, This event is open to 4-Hers ages 8 to 18. There is no limit on the number of members a county may register in the contest. Registration for the Horse Judging State Contest will take place through 4HOnline and will close on February 8 th. Registered youth will receive, via email, an information letter with maps, details, etc. You don't have to be enrolled in the horse project to participate. Horse Judging Clinic -Please keep a lookout for information regarding a horse judging clinic hosted by the Missouri Quarter Horse Association. The clinic will take place on Friday, February 22 nd at the National Equestrian Center. The clinic will consist of two sessions; the first at 1 p.m. for advanced judgers and the second at 6 p.m. for younger or more novice judgers. Registration for this clinic will be handled by Missouri Quarter Horse Association (just like last year). Teen Conference-Come join the game of leadership at the 2019 State 4-H Teen Conference, March 16-17 in Columbia! Registration is open February 2-10 with an additional $50 late fee. For more info on Teen Conference, please visit http://4h.missouri.edu/teen-conference. Scholarships are available through the Callaway County Extension Office. Missouri 4-H Equine Tour-Applications are available at http://4h.missouri.edu/equine-tour and are due before March 1, 2019. Please have at least 2 members from each club present at the meeting. Lamb & Goat Weigh-In-There will be a physical lamb and goat weigh in this year on May 11 from 10am-12pm. Location to be determined. Beef Fitting Clinic-Mark your calendars. Chuck McCullough will be putting on the fitting clinic at the CYE Grounds, April 26-28, 2019. Sheep & Goat Clinic-There will be a sheep and goat clinic on March 16 at Timberline Stables in New Bloomfield. See attached brochure for more information & costs. Other Happenings 4-H Camp Camp Clover Point is looking for camp staff for the 2019 camps in June. Lifeguards are needed and other positions. If you are interested in a summer job at camp please email huberscd@missouri.edu for the application. Applications will be taken until the 1st of March. In The Show Ring-The Missouri Pork Association will be hosting the In the Show Ring program during the Missouri Pork Expo. The event is February 12 from 9:30am-3pm. The event is free for youth and $10 for adults. All youth will receive their SMQA certification. Flyer is attached for more information or you can register online at https://www.mopork.com/events/missouri-pork-expo/ MO Beef for MO Kids-Cattlemen and Cattlewomen: The North Callaway School District is looking for donations of three cull cows to kick off the MO Beef for MO Kids program. https:// missourigrownusa.com/mobeef-for-mokids/ This is a great program to get locally sourced beef and added protein served to our school children and to increase awareness of the Missouri cattle industry. Six beef cows will be needed annually. This will add over 3,000 lbs. of beef to the North Callaway School lunches. Donations are tax deductible and the donor families will be recognized in the schools, in the community and at a kickoff dinner to be held in early February. Each donor will need to take their cow to a local processor in Fulton at a scheduled upon time. Donations are welcome from outside the county. Cost of processing is covered under this program. Scholarships Callaway County 4-H Scholarship-Callaway County 4-H is offering 1-2 $500 scholarships. Applicants must submit the following to be considered: 1) MO Recognition Form 3, 2) Proof of graduating from a accredited high school or equivalent program, 3) Letter of acceptance from a university, college or tech. school, 4) Letter of application stating goals, and plan of action. All paperwork must be submitted to the county office by February 21 for consideration.

2019 4-H DAY WITH THE CARDINALS Saturday, May 11, 2019 4-H members, alumni, families and their friends are invited to join us for 4-H Day with the St. Louis Cardinals, Saturday, May 11. The Cardinals will be playing the Pittsburgh Pirates in a 1:15 p.m. game in Busch Stadium. Prior to the game, 4-H members and their parents/leaders can take part in a parade around the ball field that s right, participants will actually get to go down on the field and march one time around the stadium behind their state or county 4-H banner. Also, everyone who orders a ticket on this form will receive a specially designed t-shirt featuring the 4-H and Cardinals logos to commemorate the day. Note: Groups of families or county groups that wish to sit together must send their orders in one package. Tickets usually sell out, so order early. Tickets and t-shirts will be mailed on April 29. You could throw out the first pitch of the game, get an autographed baseball, or win other great prizes! 4-H members who participate in the 4-H raffle will have a chance to be selected to throw out the first pitch, and other family members, alumni, and guests can win other great prizes. Each person who completes Section B of the order form will receive one chance to be selected for every $1 they donate to TICKET ORDER FORM All orders must be postmarked by April 1, 2019. Complete both parts of this form to be eligible for all 4-H Day with the Cardinals opportunities. Seats will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. So send your order as 1:15 pm... Play Ball! All ticket orders must be postmarked by April 1! 4-H Raffle Details Winners will be notified after April 29. Prizes will be mailed to winners after the game. Each dollar donated to 4-H in the raffle will provide one chance to win. First prize, the opportunity to throw out the first pitch, must be awarded to a 4-H member only. All other prizes are available to youths and adults. All funds donated will be used to support Missouri and Illinois 4-H programs. You must purchase 4-H Day with the Cardinals tickets on the attached form if you wish to participate in the 4-H raffle.
