Big congratulations to Tia Coulter winning the Open Women s yes, the Open Women s at The Agnes Water Reef 2 Beach Longboard Classic that is such an amazing effort for her. One of those classic stories. Also great effort by her brother, Cale Coulter - 2nd in the logger and 4th in the Juniors! But wait... he also won a board in the competitors draw yippppeeee! Oh, and Dad, Drew - 4th in the over 40 s! and to top that off Damian Coulter wins the open logger, open 9ft and the over 40s division! WOW! a complete hat trick now that is an amazing effort. They must have surfed in so many heats to get there and achieve all those amazing wins. Congratulations to Micky V - Finalist in the Over 60s and to Springer finalist in Retro and Over 40s! and to all the Alex Mal Club crew for heading to Aggie for this great contest. Thanks to all that attended our last club meeting with a guest speaker Steve Connelly. Director Sport and Community Development giving us an insight into Grants and Club structure! so we will be doing some more chatting to Steve over the coming months and remember please make a note of our monthly meeting to find out what is going on.

Noosa Festival of Surfing gets under way in the next week, so we wish all our competitors all the best in their divisions! Alex Mal Club is putting in 2 teams in the Teams Challenge so good luck to everyone. Sponsorship is well under way for our Winter Longboard Classic on the 15 th, 16th & 17 th of June. So any other sponsorship ideas please let myself or any of the committee know and let s get them locked in! See you all soon and keep your fins wet. Kevi The Directors Cut G day longboarders, wow what a big month of longboarding it has been! Last months club comp was held in average chocolate, mushy surf that gradually got worse as the day rolled on. We managed to surf most divisions and cancelled the 8ft division for the day as conditions deteriorated. The following week was the Reef 2 Beach Longboard Classic at Agnes Waters and kingscliff longboard festival colliding on the same weekend. The Reef 2 Beach was a great, fun comp held in very small waves but everyone who came still had a great week away. Hats of the Tide N Turn boardriders for putting on such a great event and they didn t miss a beat all weekend. Last week was the Noosa Festival of Surfing and they had every kind of surf from half a foot to three foot pumping at first point. I d just like to say congradulations to all our members who competed in these awesome longboard compititions and we had some excellent results overall. Its great to see some of our members mat ``` ching it with the best and either winning or placing well in the finals or semi s, well done guys for having a crack. We have a club comp on the 25 th this month and it looks like we might get some swell, so get excited crew it might be pumping! Monthly meetings are for all club members to attend so feel free to come along and voice your opinion or ideas and have your say. We are currently planning our Winter Longboard Classic compitition and any ideas or input would be much appreciated, if you have any sponsorship possibilities in mind please come to the meeting or talk to a committie member. All help is very much appreciated. See you all at the next comp! Yewww, Drew From the Treasurers Hi all, It s been a busy few weeks with the Reef 2 Beach Longboard Classic at Agnes Waters and the Noosa Festival of Surfing. The surf conditions at Agnes were definitely testing however a few of our club members got to the finals with great results. Tia Coulter 1 st place Open Women (yes, she knocked me out in the semi-final) Damian Coulter 1 st place in Logger, Open Men and Over 40 s Cale Coulter 2 nd place Logger and 4 th place in Junior Boys Drew Coulter 4 th place Over 40 s Gilles made 2 finals placed 5 th and 6 th Springer 6 th place Over 40 s and 5 th in Retro Micky V placed 6 th in the over 60 s All in all, it was a great week! The Noosa Festival of Surfing was also a super fun week starting with the team s challenge on Sunday 11 th March at First Point. Thanks to Tony Willett, Dallas, Shaun, Micky V, Drew, Damian, Cody and Jason for representing our club at the event. The surf was small but clean and everyone surfed well. Quite a few of our members surfed in divisions throughout the week. The finals were held at the groynes on Saturday 17 th due to the tide and lack of swell. The beach breaks were looking good though. Our club s finalists were: Damian Coulter 1 st place Over 40s Dallas Rogers 2 nd place Under 15 Boys Cale Coulter 3 rd Under 18 Boys Owen Cavanagh 3 rd Over 50 s Dallas surfed so well and received the Outstanding Junior Surfer award and $200 prize money. Just a reminder about the grant the club is hoping to apply for to purchase new equipment such as an online judging system, lifesaving gear, rental of a storage shed and new BBQ etc. if any members have ideas or recommendations they would like to share please make sure to attend the next meeting on 28 th March to give us your input. That s about all the news from us. See you all next comp! Dani and Cath
