Please hover over For Students and Student Life in order to see the next option! www.rak12.org For Students Student Life Extracurricular Activities Dance More Information Late Pick-Up Policy This policy is applicable for any parent/guardian who fails to pick up their RA student within 15 minutes of the end rehearsal time, in this case 5:15pm. Students will also be sent to Club RA at this time and Club RA charges will apply. Volunteer Expectations All Nutcracker parents are asked to volunteer a minimum of 2 times. All Nutcracker parent volunteers must have their current clearances! Clearances are $10 each and good for 2 years. The first three rows of seating will be reserved for these parents and their families. How Do We Sign Up to Volunteer? There will be a SignUpGenius link sent out to the entire Nutcracker mailing group over the summer. Once the link has been sent to you, you are welcome to start signing up! Communication Norms There will be a weekly parent email sent home every Friday The email will come from Nutcracker@rak12.org If you are not receiving the emails, please contact Ms. Fell or Mrs. Wombacher immediately! There is essential information and details sent home via email. 2017 Nutcracker Volunteer Committees Volunteer Committee Leaders- Please see the Sign Up Genius for Committee Leader positions. - Designate responsibilities and assignments to your volunteer group - Communicate and inform volunteer group 5
- Serve as the primary contact for your group with the directors sending updates, asking questions, voicing concerns, etc. - Assigning replacements and/or substitutes if there is a last minute change - Complimentary Incentives: o 2 tickets to the Nutcracker performance of your choice o 1 Nutcracker photo package E o 1 Nutcracker zip-up (Child or Adult sizes available) o 1 Shout Out in the Nutcracker program Families will choose from the following committees to fulfill the volunteer requirements: 1. Committee One: Rehearsal Chaperones Date & Times: Tuesday/Wednesday Afternoons, 3:30pm 5pm in Lower School Building -Supervise students who are waiting to enter rehearsal or who are waiting for Parent pick up -Ensure all students have eaten a snack AND have washed hands -Ensure that all students leave classroom with all belongings and clean up after themselves - Complete each rehearsals Sign In/Sign Out forms -Ensure that all students have been picked up or escorted to another after school program -Assist with transitions to/from the dance classroom as rehearsal groups switch -Occasionally assist with costume fittings if needed - 3 chaperones needed per rehearsal for Tuesday - 1 chaperone needed per rehearsal for Wednesday 2. Committee Two: Costuming Date & Times: Various Rehearsals, Dress Rehearsal, Both Performances -Help with fittings during rehearsal times. -Assist in alterations and design of costumes and accessories -Assist in steaming and getting costumes show ready -Dress dancers before dress rehearsal, performance #1, and performance #2. -Pick up or returning costumes to storage 6

Committee Three: Set & Props Date & Times: Dress Rehearsal, Both Performances -Pick up rental truck in Phoenixville the morning of 12/03/2017 -Move all props and set from storage closet to RA for Dress Rehearsal on 12/03/2017 -Assemble all sets, props, and backdrops onstage before both performances Assist with set and prop changes during both performances -Disassemble all sets, props, and backdrops after performance #2 on 12/09/2017 -Move all sets and props from RA back to storage -Pack up backdrops and following shipping instructions -Return rental truck after performance #2 on 12/09/2017 4. Committee Four: Fundraising and Program -Collect all ads (personal and business) for the show program -Designing and assembling show program - Organize a Spirit Night with a local restaurant - Selling of Nutcracker Dolls at performances -Assist with performance concessions at performances -Sell flower bouquets at performances -Assist with Thanksgiving Pie Fundraiser : organizing paperwork to submit and delivering products to students as they arrive to the school 5. Committee Five: Backstage Chaperones Dates & Times: Dress Rehearsal and Performances - Supervise dancers backstage for dress rehearsal -Supervise dancers backstage for both performances -Transition dancers to/from costume room, to/from stage, and to/from assigned classrooms -Help with set up before dress rehearsal and both shows in classrooms -Help with clean up after dress rehearsal and both shows in classrooms - Sign in and sign out ALL students for dress rehearsal and both performances 7

Adult Party Dancers *If you are interested in being a party parent in Act 1 please send an email to Nutcracker@rak12.org by Friday, September 1st. In your email, be sure to include: Your name Your relationship to RA and Nutcracker Whether you have past experience performing in RA s Nutcracker (past experience is not required) Student Teaching Opportunities This year, the RA Dance Department is seeking 4 student teachers to assist during rehearsal times. The eligibility for student teachers is listed below: RA High School Student Available all Tuesday and/or Wednesday afternoons Strong dance background including at least 4 years of dance experience Enjoys working with children To apply, please see Ms. Fell for an application! 9
Program AD Expectations Each Nutcracker family is asked to raise a minimum of $50 in program ads. If the $50 is not met, families are responsible for fulfilling this amount. This minimum may also be met through the Thanksgiving Pie Fundraiser. If a student fulfills the $50 ad sales minimum, their family will receive 2 free tickets for each additional $50 in ad sales! This profit is essential to this special production! Proceeds help finance costumes, backdrop rentals, storage rental, moving trucks, and stage lighting and sound systems.
