Accessed from a gondola in downtown Aspen, Aspen Mountain has the resort's original slopes, open since 1947. Aspen Mountain features terrific blue cruisers and renowned expert terrain. It has 675 skiable acres, gets 300 inches of snowfall a year and the longest run is 3 miles. Home to the ESPN Winter X Games, Buttermilk is best known for its long blue runs and beginner terrain. It has 44 trails, 470 acres of skiable terrain, and also gets 300 inches of snow a year. Over 70 % of its trails are rated easy or more difficult. Thus making this resort a truly cruisers paradise. Aspen Highlands is a local favorite, known for it s blue and black runs and the backcountry-like in-bounds terrain at Highlands Bowl - which some have said this is the ultimate backcountry rush. In addition 265 skiable acres have recently been added to make this one of the most challenging big mountain terrain in North America. The resort has over 1,028 acres, 118 trails, and of course gets over 300 inches of snow. Over 52% of the trails are considered expert or most difficult. And, with its own distinct base village less than 10 miles from downtown Aspen, Snowmass is one of the largest resorts anywhere, with over 3,000 acres (that works out to two people per acre) and the most vertical feet of any resort in the U.S. (4,046).
