Page 1 News from the Clubhouse Welcome to the AUGUST 2017 Edition of the Club s Newsletter By all reports the recent Open Day went well. Andrew met quite a few members and also some non-members who came along on the day. Everyone who attended got a 50% off voucher for a lesson. The first session of Junior Group Coaching has also begun. 5 young golfers have signed up for a course of lessons. This is a good start and one which Andrew and the Club hope to build on. So if you are interested get in touch. Thanks also to Donald Wood who is lending his invaluable help with the lessons. Andrew s website is up and running. So you can

P a g e 2 contact him that way as well as through Club Notice Boards and our own Club Newsletter. Go for it! Our congratulations go to all the winners especially to Dave Philip as winner of the Senior Open Trophy. It is also great to see a number of 'home grown' players on the winners' podium this year - a fantastic effort overall! Many thanks to everyone who supported the organisation on the day, too numerous to mention BUT very special thanks once again to JIM WARRENDER for his sterling work at the raffle desk. It should not be underestimated how much this effort means to the senior finances in subsidising our annual outings and Xmas Dinner - THANKS JIM!! Graeme Watson, Seniors Convener. SENIORS TEXAS SCRAMBLE TROPHY 24 TH JULY 2017 1st J. Turnbull / D. Philip / G. Andrew 64.0 2nd G. Watson / P. Scott / J. Warrender 66.8 3rd M. Collie / D. Raby / G. Page 5 VOLUNTEERS all shapes and sizes! Volunteers for Course Work and for Clubhouse Gardening are always welcome. Please look for opportunities to assist in any ways that you can. It makes for a pleasant environment in which to enjoy our golf. Special thanks to Maureen McFarland for stalwart work on bunker raking and to Fred Watson and Dougie Morrison on the gardening front. P Keep our tees tidy. Get used to depositing broken tees in the cups provided. THANKS. LADIES GOLF The ladies have played all 4 matches in Aberdeenshire County League resulting in 1 win, 2 draws, and 1 loss. Well done for that. They were drawn against Ellon in the Robertson Cup. The away result was 6-2 for Ellon. The home matches were hard fought for 5-3 but unfortunately was not enough to force a play off. Nevertheless a good effort.

Page 6 And news from HowDidido: LADIES MEDAL Karen Shaw won going out in 41 and coming back in 34 with 5 birdies and 6 pars beating Jane Middleton by 7 shots.
