ALL ABOUT Virginia Regional Ballet Academy s JUNE SHOW 2019 EACH FAMILY MUST sign up on SignUpGenius.com for one of the many volunteer positions! ALL Costume and June Show PAYMENTS ARE NOW DUE! Help us save on credit fees and keep show fees low by remitting payment by check or cash in the Williamsburg mail slot or Yorktown tuition box. All fees, including June tuition, must be paid to perform in the June Show! If you have any questions about your totals, please email VRB at dance@dancevrb.com. Your two tickets and dancer t-shirt(s) included as part of the June Show Production Fee will be distributed at Dress Rehearsal (June 2nd at Hampton Roads Academy). PICTURE DAY Savand Action Photography -- Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 9:00 pm 7:00 pm at the Williamsburg studio Save the date! Group and individual portraits will be taken ONLY on Saturday, June 8th! The picture day schedule will be posted soon. Even if you are not planning to order individual portraits of your dancer, please attend picture day so that your dancer will be included in the group photo. Please let VRB know if your dancer will not be able to be present for her/his class photo(s). Wmbg. Classes (6/8) will be combined in studio 2. Ballet 4 & Up at both studios is canceled on this day. BACKSTAGE MOMS NEEDED! Each class needs a backstage mom. Backstage mom duties include: sitting with the class in the dressing room, making sure dancers are properly costumed, getting dancers on and off the stage, and releasing each dancer to her/his parent at the specified time. You must be available for dress rehearsal. If you are interested in taking on this very important job, please sign up on SignUpGenius.com. If your child is in more than one dance, let the class parent change her costume. It is very distracting for parents to keep entering and exiting the auditorium, and there is just not enough room in the dressing rooms for each child to have her/his parent backstage. Link to SignUpGenius is coming soon. COSTUME NOTES Please label all costumes, costume bags, shoes and accessories. If your dancer is in more than one dance, write your child s name on the hanger and have all necessary accessories in a zip top bag labeled with your child s name and hanging with the costume. Please do not bring big dance bags to the theatre. There simply is not enough floor space. Rental costumes must be left at the theatre after the shows. Reminder: NO eating or drinking in costume! TICKETS - Tickets go on sale on May 1 st Your June Show production fee included two tickets to one performance of the June Show and a t-shirt for your dancer(s). These will be distributed to you on Picture Day. Additional tickets may be purchased for $10 each. Tickets are available at the studio and at the door on the day of the performances. To purchase tickets at the studio, complete the ticket form and drop it in the mail slot or tuition drop box along with payment (cash or check payable to Virginia Regional Ballet). Pre-ordered tickets will be available for pickup during Dress Rehearsal. Children attending (and not performing in) the June Show must have a ticket unless they are able to sit in a ticket-holder's lap (3 years old and under only). The tickets largely contribute to the cost of renting the theater. There is limited seating,

and we need tickets to ensure that everyone can get a seat. Please stay for the entire show. The last group deserves as big an audience as the first group. Thank You! DRESS REHEARSALS MANDATORY! See Dance Order page to determine if your dancer is in Act 1, Act 2, or both. Sunday, June 2nd Dress Rehearsal at Hampton Roads Academy; 739 Academy Ln., Newport News 23602 for the performances on Sunday, June 9 th at 1:00PM at Hampton Roads Academy Schedule for Sunday, June 2nd at Hampton Roads Academy Warm-up Act 1 Dancers Act 1 Run-Thru Lunch Break Act 2/3 Dancers Act 2/3 Run-Thru Begins at 8:30AM, For ALL Ballet 2A and up Arrive at 09:30AM, get dressed and find seats in auditorium 10:00AM-1:00PM 1:00PM-1:30PM Arrive at 1:30PM, get dressed and find seats in auditorium 2:00PM- 5:00PM Dress Rehearsal will begin promptly at 10:00AM in full costume and make-up. We will run the show in order. Please report to your dressing room mother in the auditorium. You will find your class name on a row in the auditorium. We will practice the backstage line-up, and entering and exiting the stage. Please, no eating or drinking in auditorium. Parents, you are to wait for your child in the auditorium. Please, NO DROP OFFS! This is a good time to take pictures and/or videos of your child (No flash please!). Both will be prohibited during the performances. After each class has rehearsed on the stage, the class mom will escort the dancers, as a group, to the back of the auditorium. Please hang your dancer s costumes on the designated costume racks; dancers may leave their costumes at the theatre between dress rehearsal and the show. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO WEAR HIS/HER COSTUME OUTSIDE OF THE THEATRE! Please check with your class mom before leaving; she may have notes from your dancer s teacher. PERFORMANCE SUNDAY, JUNE 9 th, 1:00PM at Hampton Roads Academy; 739 Academy Ln., Newport News 23602 The performance will begin promptly at 1:00PM. There will be one intermission. All dancers should arrive at the theatre 12:00PM. Upon arrival all dancers should take all costumes to their assigned dressing room. Int/Advanced Ballet & Ballet 2A & up will have a warm-up class at 11:00AM at the theatre. We kindly request that you do not reserve seats in the auditorium when you bring your dancer to the theatre before the performance to get ready. The auditorium opens for seating 30 minutes before show time. Notes for Act 1 Dancers Please arrive at the theatre one hour before curtain time and report immediately to your class mom in your dressing room. Act 1 dancers must remain backstage through the entire first act. If your dancer is only in Act 1, please pick up your dancer from the class mom during intermission. Dancers may watch Act 2 of the show out of costume, after intermission, no ticket required, seated with family or friends. Notes for Dancers in Act 2 Please arrive at the theatre one hour before the performance and report backstage during intermission to get ready. Dancers in Act 2 may watch Act 1 out of costume, no ticket required, seated with family or friends. Performers must report and stay backstage through the entire 2 nd Act. Dancers will be dismissed from the class mom to their parents after the show is finished.

FINALE NUMBER Ms. Teanna will put together a dance for the whole school as our big finish to the June Show. We would like every class represented. There will be 2 mandatory rehearsals May 18 th ; 3:30-6:00pm and June 1st 3:30-6:00pm. Please sign up on the bulletin boards at each studio if you will participate in the Finale Number. Backstage Notes Bring quiet things to occupy your dancer in the dressing room. Because of the close quarters backstage, we have to limit the number of people in the dressing rooms. DANCERS AND CLASS PARENTS ONLY! Dads: We ask that you stay out of the dressing rooms completely. (We are not trying to be discriminatory but your presence sometimes makes the girls a little uneasy when they are changing. There are a lot of other volunteer opportunities for you!) 50/50 Raffle We will have a 50/50 Raffle. Tickets are $5.00 each. The drawing will take place during the June 9 th performance, prior to the last dance. You do NOT need to be present to win. Tickets to take and sell can be picked up at either studio location. Tickets will also be sold at the Williamsburg studio and the performances. Cast & Pool Party In respect for your family time, there will not be a cast party. Instead, we will have a pool party and cook out at the Williamsburg Community Pool adjacent to the Williamsburg studio on Tuesday, June 11 th from 5:00PM - 7:00PM (TENTATIVELY). More information will be posted and emailed about the pool party in late May or early June. Last Day of Regular Classes - Saturday, JUNE 8 th (No Ballet 4 & Up) Summer 2019 Programs Don t forget to register for Summer Classes, Dance Camps, Workshops, & Intensive Seminars.
