Previous Meeting Release WOMEN S BASKETBALL OUTLASTS (3) CAMPBELLSVILLE 90-78 IN OVERTIME Portsmouth, Ohio Shawnee State women s basketball put their number one ranking to the test on Thursday, and emerged victorious over (3) Campbellsville 90-78 in overtime at Waller Gymnasium. The game would be close throughout, as Campbellsville would lead for most of the first quarter. The Tigers would take an early 4-2 lead on Lexxus Graham s field goal with 6:33 left in the period, and Savannah Gregory s two free throws would push the Campbellsville lead to four points. The four-point lead would be Campbellsville s largest of the period as Ashton Lovely (JR/Jamestown, Ohio) s hot start would keep Shawnee State in the game. Lovely would hit four threes in the first quarter, scoring 12 points. Madison Faulkner would hit a shot late in the period to send Campbellsville to the second quarter with a 17-16 lead on SSU. The two teams would trade buckets in the second quarter as Shawnee State looked to retake the lead. That would happen with 5:34 to halftime, as Lovely would hit another three, followed by a quick bucket from Lydia Poe (JR/Jackson, Ohio) to give Shawnee State a 29-24 lead. Bailey Cummins (SO/Brooksville, Kentucky) would hit a bucket with 2:24 to halftime to get the lead out to six points and 35-29, SSU s largest lead of the first half. Campbellsville would cut the lead back down to two points on Faulkner s basket to make the score 35-33 in favor of Shawnee State at halftime. The third quarter would feature five ties and six lead changes as the two teams battled it out. Shawnee State would find a late run in the third quarter, with Madison Ridout (SR/Jackson, Ohio) and Ashton Lovely combining to get the Shawnee State lead out to 56-49. Jordan Doram s late bucket in the third would cut the Shawnee State advantage to five heading to the fourth quarter. Shawnee State would extend their lead out to eight points early in the fourth quarter on a pair of Lydia Poe free throws, making the score 66-58. That would be the largest lead SSU would hold in regulation, as Campbellsville would rally late. The Tigers would begin an 8-2 run on a put-back by Savannah Gregory, who would score again to respond to a bucket from Poe. Madison Faulkner would then score through a Poe foul, and hit her free throw to put Campbellsville up 74-73. Gregory would then go to the line, hitting one of two late. However, Shawnee State would be rescued by Hannah Miller (JR/Coal Grove, Ohio), who would get fouled on the ensuing possession and hit her free throws to tie the game. Madison Clements shot with less than one second to go would hit off the side of the backboard, and the game would head to overtime. The extra five minutes would be the Hannah Miller show for Shawnee State. Miller would get fouled early and hit two free throws to put SSU on top, then score on the next possession to give Shawnee State a 79-75 lead. After Jordan Doram hit in the post to cut the lead to two, Miller would hit a three to push the lead out to 82-77. Lauren Turner would hit one of two free throws on the other end, but Miller would again drive and get fouled, hitting both of her bonus free throws. Miller would hit two more free throws with 1:18 left to go to ice the game for Shawnee State, and in total scored the first 11 points for SSU in overtime to lead Shawnee State to the 90-78 win.
