CF-SERIES HIGH FLOW REGULATORS Owner s Manual Printed in U.S.A February 2014 Publication No. OM-CA-3 REV.4

1.3 Copyright Notice 1.0 Introduction The CF-Series are high flow regulators for critical applications requiring a fast, accurate control response over a wide range of flows and pressures. 1.1 WARNING This manual contains important safety information. Read THOROUGHLY and follow the Safety Instructions provided in this manual and posted on the unit. Keep this manual near the unit and in a safe place. Replace this manual if it becomes torn or dirty and cannot be properly used. Any concealed shipping damage must be reported to the carrier immediately. Damage claims should be filed by the consignee with the carrier. All the equipment shipped F.O.B. Houston, TX becomes the property of the purchaser. In all cases of damage, visible or suspected, contact your local distributor or Pneumatech before attempting to install equipment. SERVICE INQUIRIES: Provide Model No., Operating Pressure, Target Pressure, and Nature of Problem. 2.2 Safety Instructions When using air compressors and compressed air accessories, basic safety rules and precautions must always be followed, including the following: 2

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS FULLY Use Suitable Parts & Accessories Do not use air pressurized accessories or parts in the air system not suitable for the maximum air pressure used. Be sure maximum pressure specified by the accessory manufacturer is well above the working pressure of your compressor. Release Air Pressure Slowly Fast moving air will stir up dust and debris, which may be harmful. Release air pressure slowly when depressurizing your system to avoid bodily injury. Breathing Air To provide safe, breathable air, compressor must be capable of producing at least Grade D breathing air as described in Compressed Gas Association Commodity Specification G7.1-1966. Special filtering, purifying and associated alarm equipment must be used to convert compressed air to Breathing Air. Other special precautions must also be taken. Refer to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY If this unit is used to produce breathing air, the special equipment and precautions expressed in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 for specifications of the necessary equipment and special precautions to make Breathing Air MUST BE used or any warranties are VOID and manufacturer disclaims any liability whatsoever for loss, personal injury or damage 3.0 Installation & Operation 3.1 Install the unit close to the demand as possible for best pressure control. The units may be installed in any plane. The CF-Series requires clean, dry, and oil free air to insure proper operation. Casted into the control body are in / out port identifiers. Use these identifiers when installing for proper flow direction. 3.2 Before supplying air pressure turn the servo pilot fully clockwise to allow full flow. If it is necessary for a specific plant system to start with the flow off for safety, turn the servo pilot fully counter clockwise. 3.3 Supply air pressure and check the pressure readings on the inlet and outlet of the regulator. There should be a minimal pressure drop across the valve at full flow. Check for leaks. 3.4 Turn the servo pilot counter clockwise until you see the discharge pressure change. Continue turning until the discharge pressure is at the desired reading. 3.5 If starting with the unit closed, turn the servo pilot regulator clockwise until the discharge pressure is 10psi above the desired pressure. Turn the servo pilot counter clockwise back to the desired pressure. Note: The CF-Series regulators are constant bleed units through a hole on the dome of the main control valve and through the handle of the servo pilot. 3

The bleeding off of air is necessary to maintain constant pressure control due to the movement of the diaphragm. If the air pressure on the discharge side of the regulator becomes higher than the upstream side a constant bleeding will occur. If higher discharge pressure is common at the point of installation, it is recommended to install a check valve at the outlet side of the regulator. 5.0 Replacement Parts (See drawings for rebuild details) Item Order No. Servo Pilot 1624 5004 61 1600 Rebuild 1624 5004 40 1600 Rebuild 1624 5004 41 1200 Rebuild 1624 5004 42 800 Rebuild 1624 5005 96 4.0 Maintenance 4.1 GENERAL Keep air to the regulator clean and dry. The unit can become sluggish, locked and/or damaged by water, oil, and general contaminations. 4.2 6 - MONTHS Check that the regulator is not locked or sluggish by adjusting the discharge pressure up 10 psi then back down. 4.3 YEARLY Disassembly the control valve and look for signs of contaminants, oil, water and clean as necessary. Examine the o-rings and valve components for cuts, scratches, general wear & tear and replace as needed (see exploded drawings for available replacement parts) 4
