SATEC ATHLETICS Philosophy SATEC Athletics is a education based athletic program. We believe that through sports we can teach our Student Athletes the following... Fundamentals and Rules of the game Sportsmanship and representation of the program To able to behave positively in competitive environment Responsibility and Accountability How to work together towards a common goal To learn how to win and lose appropriately
SATEC SOCCER Here at SATEC we have 8 soccer teams! Each year our program consistently consists of 140-160 players. Both genders have two teams collaborated of 5th and 6th Graders (each team will be equally divided as 5/6 Green and 5/6 White), a team of all 7th graders and a team of all 8th graders. We compete against schools in our county as well as its surrounding areas. The Season starts on August 29th and will end on the week of October 18th.
Schedules We are still trying to round up a two more coach for the 5/6 Girls team. A schedule will be out the first day of school and online, followed by a full season schedule. Students Athletes will be given a hard copy of the schedule, it will also be posted online, and daily in the Daily Announcements and on our Facebook page. Daily Blog, Maple Run Athletic Page, and Facebook. Please note that the announcements for the Daily Blog are done by 1:00 for the following day. Any last minute changes or cancellations will be communicate by email or phone. http://satecdailyannouncements.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/www.satecvt.org/ Extra copies will always be available in the back lobby. Master Copy vs. Coach The schedule that is given is a master copy. If and when a coach decides to cancel or add a practice they will communicate with the parents and players directly. They are also expected to notify me.
Practices Practices will be held onsite. Here at SATEC we have 3 Soccer fields. Field one being the closest to the school, Field 2 in the middle, and Field 3 the furthest away. Practice times are divided into three time slots 3:30-5:00 5:00-6:30 6:30-7:45 Any team that practices at 5:00 or later will have to leave school and return at their practice time. THERE IS NO SUPERVISION AFTER SCHOOL. Your team s practice times will depending on your coach s availability. Students are expected to attend practices in order to have playing time.
Home Games All Home Games will be played on Field 2 (Middle Field) and Field 3 (Furthest Field) Most home games times are 4:00 a few maybe at 4:30 or 5:00. Students are dismissed at dismissal and will go change into their uniform and head straight back to their designated field to put on the their socks, shin guards and cleats. As the hosting school we expect that our teams and fans make the opposing teams feel welcomed. We ask parents to sit on the opposite side of the field from where the team is. Students are not allowed to stay after school with out adult supervision. They must leave school property at dismissal and come back. You, giving them permission to stay is not acceptable.
AWAY GAMES
Away Games SATEC provides all transportation to and from away games. There are two locations where that are excluded from this. We call this a Drop Only on the schedule and it s for St. Albans City and Georgia School that the bus will bring you to the game but, you will have to provide your transportation home. If you would like to take your child with you after any away game, the coach will a sheet for you to sign out your child and waive all further liability. Because SATEC has one of the longest school days we often have to be released early from class to travel and be prepared for the game. We ask student to adhere to the time of dismissal of class that is stated on your schedule. Player only need to change into their Jersey and shorts before they board the bus. They will have time to put on their Shin guards, Socks and cleats when they arrive. A REMINDER THAT THERE IS NO CLEATS ALLOWED ON THE BUS AT ANYTIME. THIS MEANS BEFORE AND AFTER GAMES. We use the same Bus Company as we do during the day. This means the same expectations and consequences apply.
Uniforms
Uniform Distributions
Uniform Return Policy Happy Ms. Rose!
Uniform Return Continued SAD Ms. Rose
Players will need to provide their Dark Green socks (only), shin guards, and cleats. New this year, players will have the option to purchase their shorts. If you don t wish to purchase the shorts they will need to be handed back at the end of the season. Short purchases will be made through Kevin Smiths. https://satecwildcats2018.itemorder.com/ The black, WildCat shorts are a part of the uniform. It is important that we look unified and put together as best as possible Mouth Guards are no longer mandatory but are highly suggested. SATEC will provided each player with a uniform that they will be responsible for keeping track of during the season and returning back at the end of the season. The black, WildCat shorts are a part of the uniform. Jerseys are only meant to be worn during games and when the coach deems it necessary. They are not be allowed as every day shirt or during gym class or practices. You must have your complete uniform to play in the game. I suggest packing an extra set of socks, and shorts in your bag.
Player Expectations Playing Sports for our school is a privilege. Students are expected to be a good citizen in the community first a student in the classroom second, and an athlete on the fields third. As stated in the School Handbook students who don t complete more than a ½ day of school, receive a level 2 or higher write up, or have fallen behind in assignments will be not allowed to play for the time that is stated for each issue. I ask that you represent the SATEC Athletic Program with your hard work, good sportsmanship and positive attitude. Participating in Sports shaped me to who I am today, My coaches and experiences taught me lessons in life and about myself.
Communication Communication is a huge part of our program s success. I encourage all parents and student athlete to reach out to me at anytime with an inquiry, question or concern. I am a problem solver, and it always makes me sad to hear that a child did not have a good experience after the season has gone by. Please be proactive, please speak up and advocate, please don t be that person on the sideline griping about something and take no action on how to fix it. We expect our parents to communicate with their child s coach about missing practices, injuries or illness s, and skills that can work on to improve. It is not acceptable at any time to talk about others or your child s playing time or their coaching styles. All concerns, and suggestions should brought to the Athletic Director.
Parent Expectations Perception is Reality Communicate Encourage 24 Hour Cool Down Your Child s success or lack of success in sports does not indicate what kind of parent you are. But having an athlete that is coachable, respectable, a great teammate, mentally tough, resilient, and tries their best IS a direct reflection of your parenting. Video
