Welcome! Dear clubs Welcome to the 2005/6 junior league competition which will be fantastic and continue on the success of previous years. This handbook has been produced to provide information on league dates, rules, code of conduct, fixtures as well as contact details for other clubs if you want to play more hockey during the season. The junior committee have spent time reviewing the rules and updated these with your feedback, but if you have any comments please forward them to the junior committee, whose contact details are in this handbook, or talk to the league representative at the competition days. Teams not playing will not be allowed to warm up on the pitch while matches are being played.

Competition Rules Entries An entry fee will be payable before competition commences at the beginning of the season (by 30 September 2005). There will be a 10 per month penalty for not paying on time. Cheques are to be payable to 'GMHAG' and sent to Vicky Hirst 155 Devonshire Road Heaton Bolton BL1 5LD The junior league consists of competitions for the following ages groups Under 15 7 a side (up to and including year 10) Under 13 7 a side (up to and including year 8) Under 11 7 a side (up to and including year 6) Players in every competition MUST be of the same gender (with the exception of U11 as detailed below). New rules may be introduced as needed as the season progresses by the junior hockey committee. Results and Scoring The matches will be scored as detailed below. 3 points for a win 1 point for a draw 0 points for a loss Results and league tables can be found on fixtures live through the greater Sport website www.greatersport.co.uk and fixtures live www.fixs.co.uk (look under hockey and Greater Manchester Junior League) Non complying of these rules will mean a 2-0 loss to the offending team. When a club enters two teams, an A team player cannot play for a B team. However a B team player can substitute for the A team. Under 11 s: As per England Mini Hockey U11 rules, two girls can play in the boys squad for U11 only. A team will lose 2-0 if they share players from another club (including keepers).

Match day Each day to be run by a nominated host club on a rota basis - set before start of season. The host club will have the following responsibilities Ensure goal posts are in correct position Ensure the pitches have been marked correctly by the centre Provide central timing of the matches and sound the bell for half and full time. (stopwatch to be supplied by the host club, Bell available at Belle Vue reception) Ensure that umpires are on the pitch. Enforce the rules of the league Collect results Collect team sheets and send with results to Rose Harper. Call emergency services as necessary If there are any problems experienced with markings or goals then contact the centre management, other issues contact the junior league representative attending the competition day. First named team to: supply match ball Change kit if a colour clash shot towards the sports centre Teams to register a team sheet for each day of play (names and dates of birth only). These will be provided by the league and collected by the host club. The host club must email the results each week to Tim Jones to be entered onto Fixtures live timjones00@hotmail.com and the results sheets and teams sheets to be sent to Rose Harper Rose Harper 34 Bradgate Close Northenden Manchester M22 4LX If you are unable to make a day of competition it is your responsibility to inform the league organiser and host club no later than the Thursday before the competition is scheduled to take place. No shows on the weekend will incur a 2-0 loss per scheduled match. Each team is responsible for their first aid and MUST have a first aid kit

Fixtures Fixtures are set at the start of the competition and cannot be changed. Game length will be dependent on the number of entries in the leagues and will be communicated with the fixtures. Each game will include a half time. The games will be run by central timing, with umpires stopping individual games for injury and if the injury is more than 3 minutes, the umpires will take control of the timing of the match. Otherwise the match length will run on central timing. A bell will be used for central timing and will be available from Belle Vue reception. Kit Teams to inform committee with playing kit on entry form. Shin pads mandatory during all games and gum shields are STRONGLY recommended Hockey Rules England mini hockey rules apply (including GK equipment) except: Full weight ball to be used for all age groups penalty corners are to be played out at half and full time. Umpiring Two umpires on pitch at any one time (one must be a senior or experienced junior umpire). Young Umpires should not be umpiring alone. It would be advisable that young umpires umpiring U15 matches have a minimum of two years experience. Each team to provide umpires for the game following the one, which your team has just played in. The first match will be umpired by the last team that plays that day. It is the teams responsibility to check when their umpiring duties are and fulfil their commitments. Each match the umpiring team should highlight which team has displayed fair play. It is not necessary to pick a team if neither have displayed fair play. Competition Conduct No warming up at side of pitch or behind pitch. Subs to take place from the half way line. Codes of conduct is included in this handbook and is to be discussed with the players, coaches and parents/spectators and adopted by each team

Fair play is encouraged and the umpires will award fair play to a team from each game and an award will be made at the end of the season for the team with the most votes.
