Battle of the Sexes Over 3,500 fans packed the stands at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) on the opening Saturday night to watch the women beat the men for the fifth year in a row in the $55,000 Nespresso Battle of the Sexes at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) in Wellington. New Place in Wellington Open Season Thursday, January 17, 13 Cathleen Cat Cannon, a very popular young lady with 10 successful years at Players Club in Wellington, has just taken the reins of what once was Galipette, then Tavern on the Green, eventually the White Horse Tavern and more recently Graffito Restaurant. The new place was remodeled with a very engaging decor and renamed Triple Bar Bistro, located adjacent to the Equestrian Showgrounds at 3401 Equestrian Club Road, under the ownership of Mike Polaski and Omar Shaikh of the SURG Restaurant Group. Originally designed in the late 80 s as the sales office for Equestrian Estates and a sport facility, the building has endured the years very well, and is a great, classic set up for the restaurant with large rooms, a beautiful bar area and terraces looking West to a lake and in the middle distance the International Horseshow, where late afternoon drink outtings in spectacular sunsets leading into evening dining are second to none. The place is ideal for private parties and the restaurant s waterside location provides a lovely comfortable setting for dinner, outside on the patio under the stars, or in the screened-in veranda. Among many appetizers priced between $7 & $14, we noticed, Shock Top Cheese Curds (Shock Top Battered, Buttermil k Ranch, Honey Mustard Dipping Sauces), Lobster Crab Cakes (Maine Lobster & Super Lump Crab, Spinach & Apples, Tarragon Crème Fraiche, Waffle Chips), Tuna (Citrus Encrusted #1 Tuna, Micro Greens Salad, Citrus Vinaigrette, Smoked Almonds), and Shrimp N Grits (Creamy Stone Ground Grits, Rock Shrimp, Market Vegetables. Imaginative Entrees include, from $19 to $34: Cedar Planked Scottish Shetland Salmon, Grilled Swordfish, Sea Bass, Pan Seared Black Grouper and Pan Seared Day Boat Diver Scallops from the sea, and Buttermilk Fried Amish Chicken, Grilled Pastrami Spiced Pork Chop and Braised Shortribs from the land. Triple Bar Bistro is open daily from 3:00 p.m. to close. It is currently available for private parties and banquets. Call for reservations (561) 333-1150. Frederic Roy Join SLS Jets and Yellow Cab polo teams at the International Polo Club of Colts Neck for exciting action this summer. Located only 45 minutes from Manhattan. www.poloclubofcoltsneck.org/ Horses Healing Hearts (HHH) was proud to announce this week that the non-profit organization recently received a $25,000 grant from the FTI Great Charity Challenge. In previous years, the Great Charity Challenge has only consisted of those charities drawn for the competition--an opportunity that had always escaped HHH. The trail-blazing organization saw its luck change that Sunday, January 6, 13. The Great Charity Challenge distributes over $1 million in prizes to competing charity teams. Thirty-one charities have been selected to participate in the 13 Challenge. The night of the Trump Invitational Grand Prix, Horses Healing Hearts was called and told that they were drawn as the winner of the surprise grant. Even though Horses Healing Hearts was not selected to participate in the competition, We ended up getting the grant, Liz Olszewski, Founder and Executive Director of Horses Healing Hearts smiled. This was the first time anything like this has happened for the Great Charity Challenge. HHH is a non-profit organization that provides an opportunity for children of alcoholics and substance abuse to work with, care for, and ride horses for the purpose of healing emotionally and learning coping mechanisms for the future. These children are given the opprtunity to experience horses in an effot to help build confidence, trust, and self-esteem. Refering to the Great Charity night and horse shows in Wellington, HHH founder Liz Olszewski said: They ll remember these things forever. They re so inspired when they watch these events, adding Every year, our kids walk away asking, can we be in that arena one day? and we answer Absolutely, with a lot of hard work and dedication, you can do whatever you set your mind to. We re very grateful the FTI Great Charity Challenge exists - it s just incredible. The grant will be awarded at the jump off during the FTI Great Charity Challenge on January 26th. Horses Healing Hearts is a 501 (c)3 not-for-profit organization. To learn more about Horses Healing Hearts or how you can help with donations of money or time, log onto www.hhhu- SA.org or email Liz Olszewski at liz@ hhhusa.org or call (561) 713-6133.
