RULES OF THE TOURNAMENT General Rules Throughout the tournament, the following terms are to be referred to: 1. Tournam ent is divided into 2 categories, the first category which leads to the Premium Maastricht Cup trophy, and the second category which leads to the Maastricht Cup 2015. 2. Teams are the set of participants who play in this tournament. For the first category and the second category, each team consists of 3 to 5 people, distributed in one male doubles, one male single, and one double (either male double, female double, or mix double). 3. Participants are team members that are involved in the tournament. 4. Match sessions are the games between the teams in the elimination round and the play-off round, which consist of 2 doubles and 1 single games. 5. Groups are the team classification in the elimination round. Each group consists of 3 to 4 teams. 6. Parties are the games played by the teams, which consist of doubles and singles parties. 7. A manager is someone who is responsible for the decision making in the team. Managers are responsible for signing the schedules of the games, getting food for players, payment, etc. Nametags will also be handed to the managers. 8. Supporters are the non-participants of the tournament. The committees will mark their hand. 9. Com mittees are the ones who organise the Maastricht Cup 2015 Badminton Tournament and can be recognised by their committees ID card. 10. Winners are the last two teams remained in the final of each category. There will be the first and runner up winners from each category. Match Rules 1. There are 2 doubles and 1 single in every match. 2. A participant can only represent one team in each category. 1
Match Sessions Maastricht Cup 2015 Badminton Tournament adapts the following system: Elimination Round Matches will be based on the grouping system. Each group consists of 3 to 4 teams Every match consists of 3 parties (2 doubles and 1 single) that will take more or less 90 minutes. The committees will determine the groups given the possibility to have more than 1 city representative. Play-Off Round The round consist of 3 parties (2 doubles and 1 single). Example of play-off round: quarter-final, semi-final, and final. Participants can be disqualified if: They do not meet the requirements set by the committees. Caught stealing any of the committees properties. Show up more than 15 minutes late than scheduled. Winners and Prizes The winners of the tournament are the winners of the final round who have been approved by the referee as well as by the committees. First winning team will have the right to: A trophy of the Premium Maastricht Cup Badminton Tournament for the first category. A trophy of the Maastricht Cup 2015 Badminton Tournament for the second category. 300 cash for the first category and 100 for the second category Runner up winning team will have the right to: A medal A trophy A Maastricht cup 2
Scoring The system Rally Point will be used throughout the tournament. The scoring will also be based on the international badminton rules with the maximum score of 21. In the case of deuce, the maximum score will be 30. Referees A referee will lead every match. The referee come from a different contingent than the two playing teams. The managers will approve the assigned referee by signing an agreement either before the start of the match or during the short break. In the case of a violation of bullet number 2, committees will assign a new referee for the match. Referees can come from within as well as outside the committees. Referees will always stick to the international badminton rules. Requirements for Participants 1. Both Indonesian and non-indonesian citizens are eligible to take part in the tournament. 2. For the first category, everyone is welcome, except one of this condition is satisfied: a) Member of professional club and those who have made badminton as a profession (source of main income) instead of a hobby. The main income is defined as more than 50% of annual gross income in the last two years. b) Former national or national athletes that represent their country for registered badminton tournament at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) are not allowed to join the tournament. List of the BWF tournament is listed on http://www.bwfbadminton.org/tournamentcalendar.aspx?id=103 c) Former participant or participant of national badminton training program in more than one year training (for example: Indonesian Pelatnas Badminton in Cipayung). d) The participant of the badminton tournament in the Netherlands, ranking 1 2 of the Rangorde Landelijke Competitiewedstrijden NRB from Uitvoeringsregeling Nationale Ranglijst Badminton 2013/2014. e) In the last two years, those who won four times or more (as the first or runner up) from the national badminton tournament from outside of the Netherlands. 3
f) In the last two years, those who won twice times or more (as the first or runner up) from the badminton tournament that is not listed under the BWF tournament, but attended by participants from more than 3 countries. 3. For the second category, everyone is welcome, except one of this condition is satisfied: a) Member of professional club and those who have made badminton as a profession (source of main income) instead of a hobby. The main income is defined as more than 50% of annual gross income in the last two years. b) Former national or national athletes that represent their country for registered badminton tournament at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) are not allowed to join the tournament. List of the BWF tournament is listed on http://www.bwfbadminton.org/tournamentcalendar.aspx?id=103 c) Former participant or participant of national badminton training program in more than six months training (for example: Indonesian Pelatnas Badminton in Cipayung). d) The participant of the badminton tournament in the Netherlands, ranking 1 6 of the Rangorde Landelijke Competitiewedstrijden NRB from Uitvoeringsregeling Nationale Ranglijst Badminton 2014/2015. e) In the last two years, those who won two tim es or more (as the first or runner up) from the national badminton tournament from outside of the Netherlands. f) In the last two years, those who won once or m ore (as the first or runner up) from the badminton tournament that is not listed under the BWF tournament, but attended by participants from more than 3 countries. 4. If there appears to be a violation of those requirements, the committees have the right to disqualify the participants. During the tournam ent, all participants will have the right to Shuttlecocks for every match. Emergency cares at place and will be brought to the hospital if necessary. Participants are obliged to Pay the registration fee of 40 per team for the first category and 20 per team for the second category one week before the tournament at the latest. Bring identity card for registration on the day of tournament. Obey all rules and regulations set by the committees. Ready to play on the scheduled times. 4
Keep the activity places clean. Bring their own rackets. Have a personal insurance card. Rules for Supporters Follow all rules and regulations set by the committees. Keep the activity places clean. Committees can limit the number of supporters allowed in the room if needed. Closing Regulations By signing below (done by the team manager), I hereby certify that I have accepted and will follow the rules and regulations for this tournament. Committees have the rights to set new rules or regulations in case needed. If there were any, the team managers would be informed. Final interpretation of the rules if the right of the committee. 5
