Rules Violaon: A member found to be shoong from the le hand side of the Upper Pistol Range. The le side of the Upper Pistol Range is closed and is clearly marked as being closed. Only the right hand side of the Upper Pistol Range, where the new baffle system was constructed, is currently open. Discipline of the member is sll pending. JR Rifle Program: The junior program will resume in September. The program is on Tuesday nights, and runs for 7 weeks. The cost of the enre program is only $10/ parcipant. See page 8 for details. New Range: Work on the Meadow Pistol Range has been delayed. The footer sll needs to be dug and poured for the covered firing line. The Pennsylvania state Smallbore Prone rifle match will be held at DMSC August 9-10. The Marsico range will be closed during this event. DMSC Conducts Safety Reviews Board appointed Range Safety Officers (RSOs) will conduct a random series of membership checks and safety reviews. RSOs will meet with members and guests while at the firing range. Each member will be given a green safety card with important safety informaon to review, membership ID s will be checked, a green scker will be affixed to the membership card, and a copy of the range rules will be made available. It s important for all members to review safe gun handling procedures and to focus on the safety rules for each range used. The RSOs will be a wearing a disncve safety vest and hat and will only ask for a few minutes of your me. KEEP IT SAFE ALWAYS keep firearms pointed in a safe direction. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. ALWAYS keep firearms unloaded until ready to use. ALWAYS unload, remove the magazine, and open the action of a firearm when someone is going down range. NEVER handle firearms while someone is down range. ALWAYS wear proper eye and ear protection at the range. High Power Rifle Clinic: DMSC hosted its first High Power Rifle clinic on June 14. The event was well a'ended, and parcipants received an introducon to NRA High Power/CMP rifle marksmanship. State Senator Ma' Smith even stopped by for a while to see what safe and responsible firearms use is all about. A special thanks to Miles Ford and John Tupta for organizing the event, and to Dave Willard, Bonnie Popso, Steve Morelli, and Marc Burnes for serving as instructors.

3 Upper Pistol Range Changes A baffle system was installed on the right hand side of the Upper Pistol range. The purpose of the baffles is to prevent any inadvertent high shots from leaving the range. The baffles sit just ahead of the covered firing line. The picture to the right is the baffle system from the rear. DO NOT HANG TARGETS ON THE BAFFLES OR ON THE WOODEN POSTS. The picture to the le shows what the baffle system looks like from the firing line. Shots will pass between the posts and under the baffles. All shoo ng must take place from underneath the pavilion. No one is permi'ed to fire from down range. THE RULES FOR THE UPPER PISTOL RANGE HAVE CHANGED, SO PLEASE TAKE NOTE: 1. Only handguns and handgun ammuni on may be used on this range.
