BADGER BASH Boy Scout Troop 93 April 6, 2019 Badger Bash is a 1 day event for Boy Scout Troops, Venture Crews, Sea Scouts Ships, Career Explorer Posts, Varsity Teams, Girl Scout/Mariner Troops and American Heritage Girls Units. Youth participants must be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America (Troop, Crew, Ship, Team, Post participant), Girl Scouts-USA, or American Heritage Girls. Dinner is included; lunch is on your own. EVENT RULES Knots Each competing unit will use a team of exactly 4 members. Each knot will be written on a block of wood that will be face down. The 4 members must stand behind a designated line created by the event judge. One team member goes at a time, getting to the blocks of wood. Selecting one block of wood, the team member must say aloud what his/her knot is, then proceed to attempt to tie the knot. After the knot is tied/attempted, the team member must go back behind the line and tag the next member of the team. This will repeat until each knot has been tied. Every member of the team is responsible for tying exactly 2 knots. There is a 30 second time penalty for any knot tied incorrectly. The team who has tied the most knots correctly in the least amount of time is the winner. *individuals a part of the knot tying team are not allowed to converse until all knots are completed and time is called (aside from verbally speaking the selected knot). Members from outside the team are not allowed to assist in any way. (Bowline knot, Sheet bend knot, Square knot, Two half-hitches, Taut-line hitch, Clove hitch, Timber hitch, Figure Eight Knot) US Map A 3 to 6 person team runs the event together. Each team member can only carry a single piece at a time. Once a piece is placed, picking it up again will result in a 30 second penalty. The time stops when the final state of the United States is placed. Throwing, dropping, and carrying more than one state at a time will result in a 30 second time penalty or will be properly dealt with by the judge. No outside information such as cell phones or maps may be permitted for this event. First Aid This event can be up to 5 people. The group will be given a certain situation to respond to. After the situation is done being presented the group will have up to 10 minutes demonstrate how to appropriately respond with the given items situation. After the group is done presenting their demonstration the evaluators will give feed back on what happened. During this whole event there will be no use of phones or any outside help other than the 5 people participating in the event. Lashing A competition team can use up to 6 members for this event. The team is provided with staves that are to be lashed together in order to create one long pole. The end pole will have a fishing lure attached at the end to set off a mousetrap that is set at a set distance from the competition team. The objective is to work together to lash the staves together and set off the mousetrap with the fishing lure. Competition teams cannot cross the line while competing.

High Jump Game A four person team is allowed a total of sixteen attempts (4 each). Each members standing vertical reach will be set only once. Then the judge will set the pendulum to the competitor s requested height. The competitor is allowed a running start in an attempt to touch, not smack or grab, the pendulum. All jumps are attempts but only the top successful touches are recorded from each individual. The score is an average of the four competitor s best jumps. Ladder Golf Ladder Gold consists of two individuals per unit. The bottom is 1 point, middle is 3 points, and the top is 5 points. Each individual gets one practice throw. Prior to throwing, the participant must stand behind the marked line and cannot cross it at any point (including follow through). Trust Walk Trust walk is composed of two teams of two, one blindfolded individual, and one leader. The blindfolded individual will be blindfolded and spun four consecutive times by the judge. Obstacles will be strategically placed throughout the play area to create a sort of maze for players to wind through. The blindfolded member may not speak while in the course. The leader is also not allowed to touch the blindfolded individual. If the blindfolded person speaks, there will be one warning, then a 10 second penalty will be issued. The blindfolded individual cannot touch the twine or obstacles, otherwise they will be penalized accordingly by the judge. Music Guessing Game Each team will be provide 4 individuals. The judges will play a short clip from a song and these 4 individuals have to guess the song and the artist. Points are given for the song, and then separately for the artist. There can be no outside assistance, intentional or accidental. Any assistance results in a loss of the round. Additionally, no usage of cell phones or other devices can be used. Atomic Pile A team of 4 will compete in this event. There will be a big can full of rocks in the middle of the 4 ropes that are connected to the thick rubber band. the 4 people will have to work together to move the can. this will be done by using the ropes to enlarge and shrink the thick rubber band. once the can is moved to the final spot the group has to release it and drop the rope. Toss the Toad A two to four person team attempts to catch six toads. A team member serving as the tosser uses a spatula to throw the toads from a pool over his/her head. The toads must be legally caught behind a designated line by a mother team member serving as the catcher. Each time a toad is legally caught the catcher becomes the tosser. A new team member becomes the new catcher, Any dropped or illegally caught toads must be returned to the water. The time starts as the first today is picked up and is ended as the last today is caught.

Compass (16 point) Each competing unit will use a team of exactly 4 members. Each compass point will be written on a block of wood that will be face down. Selecting one block of wood, the team member must say aloud what his/her compass point is, then proceed to attempt to place the point. After the point is placed, the team member must go back behind the line and tag the next member of the team. This will repeat until each knot has been tied. Every member of the team is responsible for placing exactly 4 points. There is a 30 second time penalty for any point placed incorrectly. The team who has placed the most points correctly in the least amount of time is the winner. *North will be indicated by a colored peg *individuals a part of the compass team are not allowed to converse until all compass points are placed and time is called (aside from verbally speaking the selected compass point). Members from outside the team are not allowed to assist in any way. Log saw This event will be done using 2 people. Each people will grab an end of the saw and start making a starting cut with the instructor. Once the instructor says go, the group who cuts through the log the fastest wins. Lightning Lightning is an all unit event. Each unit will provide two individuals to participate. The shooting will be done from the free throw line. Individuals are not allowed to interfere with another individuals ball. Doing so will result in disqualification. Spectators are not allowed to touch the balls. The basketball being used will be of 28.5 size. Tug of War Teams will weigh in at the beginning of the event. Each team is able to have up to 800 lbs per team. Those individuals will be marked at weigh in. During the event, the monitor for tug of war will give each team and even amount of rope and declare when to start the tug. The team that pulls the center point over the designated cone line first wins. Co-ed units will face co-ed units and girls until will face other girls units. Spectators may cheer for their teams but may not interfere with the rope of people in the competition.
