TICKIN T TIME EDITORIAL REMARKS PAGE 3 Big Shoes to Fill Maybe it s that they made it look so easy. Or, just maybe, they enjoyed it so much that it came easy. But, whatever the case, the Tickin T s family owes a heartfelt thank you to Fred and Linda Fisher for the many years that they have sponsored the annual Mother s Day tour to Holmes County. The Fishers have decided to step down this year after a long run of more than 15 years. The Mother s Day tour is by far the best attended tour of the year. They have always done a superb job and made everyone in attendance feel welcome Fred is pretty modest, so the next time you see him, tell him just how much you enjoyed the tours. Linda is a sweetheart and made sure we all had fun and that we learned about and enjoyed the Amish culture while there. Thank You Fred & Linda For the years of fun you have given all of us Now, the big question, Who can fill these shoes? The tour is the first major function after our 6 month long Ohio winters. Everyone s eager to get the old T s out and have some fun. Mother s Day isn t really that far off. Contact Garrie Nolting if you would like to take the reins for this tour. I m sure the Fisher s would be willing to talk with you about contact details they have used in the past. Don t let this yearly tour go away Henry s Workshop Have you ever purchased a tire pump and found it to be asthmatic? Well here s the solution to the problem. A small piece of leather, some water, a talented machinist like Dave Nolting and a wrench. Dave shared the process while at Hershey about how he fixes his pumps. Dave made a small press out of aluminum to form the pump leathers. The attached photos show the processs and the results are beautiful. After soaking the leather, it is simply pressed into the mold and left there to dry 1-2 days. Before removal the edges are trimmed to size. The resulting product is shown below. The pumps are as good as new when fi t t e d with a n e w leather. 3

Remember when it was fun to have show and tell at school. Well, I know many of you have a wonderful collection of Model T and Ford Memorabilia, that you would love to show off to others. We will have tables set up for all members to display their Ford collectibles, or other early automobile items. Please email Brent at Brentmize@aol.com if you are planning on bringing items. We will be sure to have ample room for your displays. Rick Lindner, our resident Ford Historian will present a condensed version of the class he taught at Columbus State last Summer. This meeting and social function will be held at Rick s new shop in Columbus. Rick will have his cars there including his 03 Fordmobile. We are inviting the Mad River T s and the NW Model T Club to join us. We have found that inviting other clubs increases participation by all the clubs involved. We will have a pot luck at noon, followed by Rick s presentation and a short meeting. We will conclude by 4:30 PM. So, please bring you collections and share in this fun day. The collections would be set up all afternoon for everyone to browse. Flyers to be emailed to all clubs in early Jan 2011.
