Sequencing 10 Karen is enjoying a beautiful summer day. She is sitting in her favorite chair with a cold drink. She is watching her kids play with the garden hose. They are yelling and spraying each other and their dog, Scraps. Karen smiles as she watches them play. Karen sips her drink as Scraps dashes over to her chair. She smiles and says, Hi, Scraps, old buddy. You sure look wet! Scraps barks once and immediately begins to shake himself dry. The water he shakes off flies through the air and all over Karen. Springing to her feet, Karen drops her drink as Scraps runs off. Karen stands there, soaking wet and thinking about how her perfect day has suddenly gone bad. Characters and Actions 7 Carlos and his grandfather got up early. They left for the lake at five o clock. It was the first time Carlos had ever been fishing. He was excited. They rowed the boat out onto the lake. Then they dropped their poles in the water. Then they waited. Nothing happened for a long time. As Carlos was about to give up, he felt a tug on his line. His grandfather said, Just relax and bring it in slowly. The fish jumped out of the water. Carlos kept reeling it in. Carlos could feel his heart beating in his chest as he brought the big fish in.
