TDCAA PLAYING REGULATIONS 2010-2011 TABLE TENNIS RULES Competition shall be governed by the official rules of the Federation Rule Book ( OTTA) with the following TDCAA / OFSAA exceptions: ELIGIBILITY / TRANSFERS All Eligibility is completed on line through Athletic Eligibility List System (AELS) which is coordinated through the OFSAA office. Must be eligible for competition under the TDCAA Constitution, By Laws, and Standing Rules. Eligibility must be completed before the first league game. All coaches and players must be listed on the eligibility Approved transfers are included on the eligibility form. Athletes who have not been approved must not be included until he/she has been approved. Listed below is the eligibility for the next five years SEASON MIDGET JUNIOR SENIOR 2007 2008 1993 OR LATER 1992 OR 1993 1988 OR LATER 2008 2009 1994 OR LATER 1993 OR 1994 1989 OR LATER 2009 2010 1995 OR LATER 1994 OR 1995 1990 OR LATER 2010 2011 1996 OR LATER 1995 OR 1996 1991 OR LATER 2011 2012 1997 OR LATER 1996 OR 1997 1992 OR LATER Midget Division athlete must be born in 1993 and he/she must be in their first year of high school. Senior Division athlete is ineligible for five years from the time they enter high school. For 2007 2008 season, an athlete who entered grade nine before September 2003 in ineligible to compete. There is no appeal to this rule. A senior athlete must also meet the age qualification as listed above. All students who transfer into your school ( excluding Grade 9 first year of high school) are ineligible for competition for a period of twelve months from the date of transfer. To become eligible, transfer students must complete the TRANSFER APPEAL FORM

fully and forward to the TDCAA Transfer Chairperson. He/she is ineligible to play in any games (league or exhibition or tournament) and may not practice with the team until the transfer has been approved and the athletic director has been notified. TEAM COMPOSITION Teams are comprised of both a Junior division and a Senior division in the following events Boys Singles Girls Singles Boys Doubles Girls Doubles Mixed Doubles Each school may enter a maximum of two(2) teams in each event. No individual may be entered in more than one event or in more than one age category. A single sex school may join another single sex school for the mixed doubles. Separate entry forms must be received from both schools with the clear intention to combine for the mixed doubles. There must be a minimum of 6 total school entries to be registered in the event and for points to be awarded.. Therefore, the two team rule per event shall be waived by the convenor if players are required to reach at least 6 entrants in a particular event. CHAMPIONSHIP RULES 1) All matches will be to 11 points( best 3 of 5). Serve changes every two points. 2) The tournament shall consist of a double elimination format. The winning side winner is the champion. The loser of the winning side final match will play the winner of the losing side to determine second & third. You must lose two total matches to be eliminated from the tournament. Prior to double elimination tournament, there shall be a group stage to determine seeding. 3) A five minute default rule will be in effect. After 5 minutes, the game will be defaulted. Exceptional circumstances may be considered provided the athlete has not left the premises. Tournament officials will not give estimates of start times. 4) Coaching during a match is prohibited except between games ( 60 seconds between the first & second match and 90 seconds between second and third. Violations of this rule may be brought to the attention of the scoring table by the affected players or by the coach of the affected player. The convenor or the designate will investigate immediately an issue an educational warning if necessary. After issuing a warning, all coaches and spectators will be instructed to move to a neutral area if the problem persists. Blatant disregard for this rule or the instructions of the convenor or designate will result in forfeiture of the match. 5) A five minute default rule will be put into effect for injury situations. OFFICIATING

1) Players officiate their own games. A third party will be provided if there is an irresolvable problem concerning rule interpretations or judgements presented by the players ( not the coaches) to the scoring table. Players are to assume that their opponents are attempting to act fairly at all times. The responsibilities of such a third party will be limited to the area of dispute only unless otherwise directed by the convenor or the convenors designate. Failure to gracefully accept the decisions of tournament officials will result in a warning and then the expulsion from the tournament. 2) Tournament officials may deal with delay of game problems without the request by the players. After issuing a warning, faults will be called if the problem persists. Blatant disregard for this rule will result in the forfeiture of the match. 3) Spectators are to simply applaud good plays and not bad ones. 4) The Convenor shall be the ultimate or final decision maker in all disputes or infractions. SCORING 1) Players shall win a match if they win three games ( best three of five). 2) Each game goes to 11 points. However, you must win by two points. UNIFORMS / DRESS CODE Any player ruled to be in violation of the dress code shall be given 5 minutes to correct the violation after which the first game will be defaulted. After an additional 5 minutes the match will be defaulted ( no time will be allowed on the losing side) 1) T-Shirt or collared shirt that is 90% white or any other colour.* The 90% of this rule may be relaxed within reason - school shirt is permissible- The final decision rests with the convenor. 2) White or any solid colour shorts for boys and same shorts or a skirt for girls ( or a white or one colour one-piece outfit). Also, school issued gym slacks or track pants may be worn by both girls and boys. 3) Absolutely no cut-offs, track pants, jean shorts, nor warm ups. No exposed midriff for ladies. 4) School, association or OTTA logos ( which must conform to Rule # 1) are the only permitted insignia in the competitive area. 5) The brand name of the uniform manufacturer is permitted to be visible. 6) No Headgear is permitted 7) Double partners must wear the same colour shirt. 8) The uniform rule may be waived by the convenor for religious or medical reasons. AWARDS Individual Medals for the first, second, and third place finishers ( if the loser of the winning side final loses to the winner of the losing side final, than that loser will automatically receive the bronze medal)

Team A trophy for the school with the most points as earned in each event category ( 1st = 3 points; 2nd= 2 points; 3rd = 1 point; 4th = 1/2 point. There will be a banner for the school with the most points. Tie breaker for the overall TDCAA title will be: 1) Total Gold 2) Total Silver 3> Total Bronz EQUIPMENT Please refer to the official playing regulations sent by the convenor to all coaches with respect to: 1) Table 2) Net Assembly 3) Ball 4) Racket LENGTH OF GAMES Best three of five matches All games to 11 Must win by at least two points SCHEDULE / MEET STRUCTURE Double Elimination Tournament ( see above for specific information( REPORTING SCORES The convenor will report the final results ( on behalf of the tournament) 1) TDCAA Web Site - Joe Sileika - scores@tdcaa.org EJECTIONS All ejections ( players and/or coaches ) must be reported to TDCAA Discipline Chairperson (Paul Solarski and/or Tom Oliveri ) within 48 hours of the game. Both Paul & Tom teach at Brebeuf. All ejections must be reported by the coach to their athletic director within 24 hours of the ejection.

Any athlete/coach who is ejected from a game will be required to appear before the disciplinary review board with the following exceptions: PROTEST Any protest must come to the President ( Paul Solarski), in writing, within 24 hours of the game. A copy of the letter should also be sent to the convenor and the TDCAA Executive Secretary. A meeting will be called to hear the protest as soon as possible at the discretion of the President of the TDCAA. The meeting will include representatives from both teams. There is no appeal to a decision on a protest. AWARDS In sports where there are less than six teams, only gold medals and a championship pennant will be presented. Plaques may be presented to divisional champions only if there are at least four division and each division has at least four teams Medals Pennants Plaques Championship Trophy Other OFSAA SELECTION CRITERIA SUPERVISION For all TDCAA activities, there must be sufficient supervision of players at all times. Teams should not arrive at visiting school before coach arrives. If coach is unable to arrive with or ahead of players, home school should be informed. Coach must remain with players at all times after the conclusion of a game. If players are traveling on TTC/cabs/cars, coach must remain with the players until all players have safely left the school or boarded the bus.

If TTC bus stop is some distance from the school or site of the game, the coach must travel with the players and remain with the players until they have safely boarded the bus. A game cannot begin unless there is a teacher coach on the bench. A community coach must be accompanied by a teacher from the school before a game can commence. MEDICAL OTHER
