From the Director... It s a great time to live, work, and play in the City of Hendersonville! This Fall and leading up to the winter months we have more projects and events than ever before. In this newsletter you will see many projects that we have going on, learn about the Fabulous Christmas activities that have taken place in our city and learn about opportunities to participate in our programs. We are so blessed to be able to serve this great community! Andy Gilley Parks Director

PAST EVENTS LUNCH WITH SANTA 2018 Our Annual Lunch with Santa was another huge success this year! We had two sessions with over 150 children participating all for FREE thanks to the Hendersonville Civitan Club. 2018 Santa Cop Fundraiser 2018 CHRISTMAS PARADE Our staff along with Tri-Star Moving, Aldermen Andy Bolt and Steve Brown hosted the 2nd Annual Santa Cop Fundraiser at Bluegrass Grill. Over $500 was raised!

PAST EVENTS... MVP Award from FULL COUNT MINISTRIES Our Parks Department was honored on October 4th as the 2018 MVP (Most Valuable Partner) by Full Count Ministries. We are completely humbled by this honor and we are thrilled to be the host of the 2018 Full Count Fall League! Over 200 players and families attended this event each week in our park. We are extremely proud to play a small role in such a great organization in our community. Thank you to the members of Full Count for this award. 2018 Tree Lighting Thank you to our wonderful Sponsors and to the Holiday Fest Committee who helped make our 2018 Tree Lighting Ceremony a huge success! PRESCHOOL TRACK MEET More than 200 children ages 3-5 participated in our annual pre-school track meet at Drakes Creek Park in October. This is one of our favorite events each year!

PAST EVENTS... TRICK OR TREAT AT DRAKES CREEK 2018 BOOTH WINNER KIMBRO AIR Over 5000 local kids came out for candy and hayrides at our annual Trick or Treat at Drakes Creek event on October 30th. Thank you to all the local businesses and organizations that made Pumpkin Carving Contest City Hall competed in its first Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest for Halloween this year. Various departments participated in this great event. After the judging took place, it was announced that the Police Department won the grand prize from Bojangles. Which one is your favorite?

PROJECT UPDATES. Volunteer Park at Arrowhead Concession Stand Construction is still underway for the concession building and restrooms at Volunteer Park at Arrowhead soccer fields. New AEDs Added The Parks Department has purchased all new AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) for our parks. We added three new locations in this process. These devices are now available at our Drakes Creek Locations including the soccer concession building and maintenance shop, and we have a unit for Volunteer Park concession once construction is complete. These will be used in cases of life threatening emergencies. Greenway Paving at Drakes Creek Park Soccer Remote Lighting System Expanded We recently added additional lighting controls through our remote lighting system provided through Outdoor Link. The addition of front soccer at Drakes Creek Park and the Tennis complex at Memorial Park helps minimize the burden on our maintenance staff as well as saving money and energy. Also added were remotes at Mary s Magical Place as well as In-Line Hockey and our Skate Park! For safety issues the walking trail behind soccer Field #4 was rerouted and a gate closed in to keep the children from running out into the main road to get loose balls. This was a small but much-needed safety measure!
