A waiting list will be set up. If the ride fills and you are still on the waiting list by September 28 th, you will have your entire entry returned. All cancellations received by Friday, September 21, 2018, will have their entry fee returned. SCORING: Horses will be judged according to ECTRA rules (100% on condition after the ride compared to their starting condition). DISTANCE: The Ride will be approximately: 80 mile ride consist of 30 miles on Saturday, 25 miles on Sunday and 25 miles on Monday. 50 mile ride will consist of 25 miles on Sunday, and 25 miles on Monday. The 25 mile ride are Sunday and Monday. Rides distance and timing to be announced at each day's pre-ride briefing. PRE-RIDE: Each rider must call for his ride packet and present a current Coggins Certificate and proof of Rabies vaccination upon arrival if it has not been sent with his entry. 80 mile exams will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday, or after the last horse has been judged on Saturday and Sunday. Riders will be pre-vetted on a first come, first served basis. Prior arrangements for late vetting MUST be made with the Ride Secretary (207)739-9831 or email mehorseme@gmail.com. THERE WILL BE NO PRE-RIDE VETTING ON SUNDAY or MONDAY MORNING. THE COURSE: The trails consist of dirt roads, woods roads, and trails. The terrain varies from good rolling trotting trails to moderate hills. There are a couple of short, steep up or down stretches and there will be stream crossings. The course will be plainly marked with mileage markers every 5 miles, except for the last 5 which will be marked every mile. DIVISIONS: Rider Juniors - 17 years and under as of January 1 st Rider Seniors - Anyone not a junior! AWARDS: Rider Champion and Reserve Champion, awards through 6 th place for each ride. Various breed and other awards may be given. Rookie rider and horse: if you or your horse or both have never completed a ride of the distanced that you re entering, please let us know i.e. 1 day 25 or 2 day 50 or 3 day 80. 1
RULES: All ECTRA rules will apply. No salves, liniments, or medications, no leg protection above the coronary band [see ECTRA rule G6 & H4] unless riding Pass/Fail Division, no hosing of horses, and no artificially heated or cooled water may be used. Electrolytes are allowed and encouraged. All riders/drivers must wear ASTM approved headgear. ECTRA Rider Handbooks will be supplied upon request by the Secretary. They can also be found at www.ectra.org SHOEING: There will be no farrier at the ride. Pads are recommended. Hoof boots are allowed following ECTRA rules. Leg protection is allowed for Pass/Fail entries. FOOD: The entry fee includes breakfast tea, coffee, hot chocolate, breakfast. Water and apples will be at the hold for riders. Restaurants are available in Norway or the famous Melby s General Store which is walking distance from the Fairgrounds. We are working on having the kitchen open, if that happens food will be available to purchase from the cooks. There are toilets and showers, weather permitting. Trash will be on a carry-in carryout basis. There are a few water and electrical hookups on a first come first served basis at $15.00 per day. No camp fires will be allowed. Stalls if used are of an open cattle barn type without full walls and no gates and must be LEFT SPOTLESS when you leave. There will be no bedding supplied. All 80 mile horses get priority for the stalls. Pens can be used at the trailers. If you choose to overnight off the Fairgrounds, please have someone on the grounds responsible for your horse(s). DOGS: All dogs or other pets must be kept on a leash or tied up. No exceptions.
