OSHA s Walking-Working Surfaces and Fall Protection Standard OSHA has estimated that about 202,066 serious injuries and 345 fatalities occur every year among workers who are directly affected by the Walking-Working Surfaces and Fall Protection Standard. Because of this, OSHA has improved this standard by incorporating new technology, best practices, requiring training and inspections, reducing costs and matching OSHA s construction industry and many ANSI standards. OSHA estimates this will prevent 29 fatalities and 5,842 lost-workday injuries every year. What Was Changed? Employers must choose from the following fall protection options: - Guardrail Systems - Safety Net Systems - Personal Fall Arrest Systems (harness, anchorage, connector, lanyard, deceleration device and/or lifeline) - Positioning System - Travel Restraint System - Ladder Safety System Scaffold requirements now match the construction scaffold standard. Ladder safety systems or personal fall arrest systems are required on fixed ladders. Prohibits qualified climbers in the outdoor advertising industry as there have been multiple injuries and a death due to the previous rule. Prohibits workers from using rope descent systems higher than 300 feet above grade unless there are no other feasible options. Anchorages must be certified as well. Improved requirements for personal fall protection performance and use. Requires employers to inspect and correct walking-working surfaces on a regular basis. Training on fall and equipment hazards is now required for employees who use personal fall protection.

How To Comply: Guardrail Safety Net The HySafe Guard Rail weighs much less than most similar products, which reduces the weight load on the roof, as well as makes it much easier to move. Each base weighs only 52 lbs. Available in 6,8, and 10 feet segments. Standard color is safety yellow; other custom colors available. HySafe provides a product line of netting solutions for most material handling applications, from construction and industrial applications to amusement and theme parks. Pre-packaged kits or customized net styles offer a range of mesh sizes and strengths to cover all your needs. Personal Fall Arrest HySafe provides an entire line of personal fall arrest equipment. With many versions of each product available, including harnesses, anchorages, connectors, lanyards, deceleration devices and lifelines, you will surely find the right product to fit your work site s needs.

HySafe offers many fall protection solutions to ensure your work site is OSHA compliant. Travel Restraint HySafe s line of travel restraint products are as unique as your work site. Our lanyards come in various sizes, with and without shock packs, and in either single or twin tail. Note: Twin tail lanyards can also be used as a positioning system in conjunction with the HySafe positioning belt. Ladder Safety Positioning When a cable or rail system isn t the right solution, the HySafe Ladder Davit can be added to an existing ladder. Sold as part of an engineered solution, or as material only. HySafe carries a full line of quality positioning equipment including a positioning belt and various positioning lanyards.
