Commencing at 10.30am (morning tea) we will be celebrating the achievements of our students, staff, and parents. We will be entertained by our brilliant performing arts groups including all bands, dance groups and choirs. Visitors will have an opportunity to visit our vibrant classrooms. We also celebrate the very special role that grandparents play in the lives and education of our students. Grandparents give a special kind of love you can t get anywhere else. The students get a better sense of who they are and where they ve come from. They have roots, a history, and a sense of continuity and perspective. During the day visitors will have the opportunity to donate a book to our library. The event will be capped off with a delicious sausage sizzle. Our wonderful P&C will be providing free tea, coffee and cake for visitors for morning tea. We hope parents and grandparents can join our celebration. Groups performing at the Grandparents/Parents day include the Beginners Band, the Concert Band, the Performing Band, the Jazz Band, Boys Dance Group, Girls Dance Group, Junior Dance Group, Senior Choir, Year 2 Choir and the K-2 children. Children performing in bands and dance groups will need to bring their instruments and costumes to school next Tuesday. We will remind the children on Monday at Assembly. Thank you to Mrs Meikle for organising the Athletics Carnival last Monday. We were very fortunate with the weather and were able to complete all events. Thank you to the children for participating in events and doing their best. Thank you to staff for their hard work and to parents for supporting the children at the carnival. Congratulations to those children who will now represent the school at the Zone Athletics Carnival. Congratulations to Catrine (100m), Jett (100m) and Tayne (800m, High Jump) for setting new records We had our final Kindergarten 2016 Open Morning today. I would like to thank everyone who participated and helped out during the morning. I was very impressed by the speeches of Sallie and Jamie. Well done. Well done to the debating team of Eliza, Sallie, Claudia and Callum who debated the topic Parents should give pets to their children. Although they performed very well they were unsuccessful against Mona Vale Public School. It is great to see their debating skills improving. Thank you to Mr Rothwell for coaching the team and organising the debates. The Stage 3 Canberra excursion is now only three weeks away. Have a great week! Regards Barry Chamberlain

PAGE 2 PREMIER S DEBATING CHALLENGE Yesterday our Year 6 debating team (Eliza, Callum, Claudia and Sallie) participated in the third round of the Premier s Debating Challenge against Mona Vale PS. The topic for this debate was that all parents should provide a pet for their kids. Belrose was the affirmative team and Mona Vale was the negative team. It was a very interesting debate and both sides articulated strong arguments and rebutted effectively however, Mona Vale proved to have the stronger case and was deservedly awarded the debate by the adjudicator. Thank you to the parents who attended and supported our team. Mr Rothwell ART GALLERY YEAR YEAR 6 Tuesday 28 July year 6 will be presenting their art work The art exhibition will be held in the hall at lunch time Everyone is welcome STEWART HOUSE CLOTHING APPEAL Clothing bags for Stewart House were sent home this week.
