Volunteering This year we will be using Time to Sign Up as well as a hard copy for each week of meets. We need volunteers at all meets, although some meets our volunteer assignments may change based on the other pool and team. Please list parent name(s) next to each and every item that you are willing to volunteer. **Starter Referee This person uses the timing system to start the swimmers for their races. They must be Officials Certified. **Stroke/Turn Judge This person watches for stroke and turn infractions. They must be Officials Certified. Timing Requires NO knowledge of swimming. This person uses a stop watch to time the swimmer during the event. Finishing Judge This person visually verifies the finishing order of swimmers in their lanes. Runners This person collects the time sheets, finishing order, and any DQ forms from each lane at the conclusion of each event and brings it to the Hytek/Computer Table. Ribbons This person works the second half of the meet and places labels on ribbons and sorts them for each team. Concessions (home meets) Sells items at the concession stand during home meets. Line- Up This person will ensure that swimmers make it up to the blocks 2 events before their race. Meet Set Up (home meets) Does not exempt from working during the meet This person will help prepare the pool on Friday night beginning at 7:45 PM. Set- up takes approximately 1 hour. Meet Tear Down (home meets) Does not exempt from working during the meet. This person will help tear down the pool on Saturday after the meet to help the pool be ready for opening with the members at 12 noon. This takes approximately 1 hr. Hi- Tek Operation (home meets) This person uses the Hytek program to record results and scores of the meet. They must be trained by Coach Jess prior to the first home meet. **These positions require certifications. If you are not already certified, we will notify you of an upcoming date for these certifications.
Swimmer & Parent Rules 2013 (Families may keep this copy for their records) The following Rules must be read and signed by all swimmers & parents before swimmers may practice. 1. All children will stay out of the baby pool during practice and meets. 2. Swimmers will not enter the water until told to by their coach. 3. Arrive at practice and be ready to be in the pool at least 10 minutes before your practice is to begin. If you require some time to stretch, change, etc. then please make plans to arrive earlier so that you may do so BEFORE practice begins. 4. There will be no gum or candy chewing while at practices or when you swim at meets. 5. Swimmers are expected to clean up the items they use at practice before leaving. 6. Swimmers are not permitted to play on the diving board or slides unless told they may by a coach. 7. Swimmers are expected to check/sign in at practices. 8. If you need to attend a night practice, SIGN UP IN ADVANCE IS REQUIRED. 9. Ribbons are not distributed at the meet, they will be available at the next practice. 10. Your swimmer is expected to be at the meet 15 minutes before warm- ups. Anyone that has not arrived by the start of warm- ups may be scratched from individual events and/or relays. They may be readded to the line- up where there is room. 11. Proper swimming attire is required for every practice. Boys, swim trunks/jammers, Girls, one piece bathing suits. 12. Swim caps are not required for practice, but long hair must be tied back to avoid distractions. 13. Team suits or all black plain suits are required for all swim meets. 14. Before leaving a meet, you must check with the head coach. 15. Disruptive behavior at practice will not be tolerated. Crying, talking, or distractions of other swimmers will not be allowed. Swimmers that are distracting others may be asked to leave practice. 16. During the first weeks the water is cold. If you come to practice you are expected to stay in for at least ½. Please do not ask the coaches if you can get out before then. Parents do not remove child from water until they are dismissed by the coach. 17. Parents may not speak to the coaches during practice. If you must talk to them speak with them after practice or arrange another time. 18. Check your family mail box at least twice a week for information, ribbons, etc. 19. Parents may stay and watch practice. However, parents must sit in the grass areas on either side of the pool, or they may sit at the picnic tables near the pool concession stand. No parents may be on the pool deck (cement area around pool) or on the benches between the baby pool and main pool. Even if you are just waiting for your child to change. 20. Every family is expected to have one parent volunteer at each meet. They will be asked to volunteer at least ½ of the meet. 21. Please help your child to the line- up area at meets. 22. The head coach and assistant coach put a lot of time into swim meet line- up. They will make every attempt to have the line- up posted by Friday morning s practice. After the line- up is posted, please do not ask for changes unless you have to leave the meet early. 23. Please do not ask for special requests for events. 24. All families are expected to contribute to the concession stand at home meets. Assignments will be sent out by the concession stand coordinator each week. 25. Whether your family will attend the meet or not, you are required to let us know no later than Wednesday before the meet. Parents will also receive a Parent Information Packet via email prior to the 2013 Summer Parent Meeting
