How to perform the Solo Dance Competitions The Solo Dance Competitions is performed in the same way as the ordinary couple dance competitions. The difference is that all dancers are performing alone.

How to perform the One Dance Competitions Besides that every dance is one discipline, the Artistic One Dance Competitions is performed in the same way as the ordinary couple dance competitions. The difference is how the final is danced. Format how to dance the final a/ The couples or duos will dance for 1 minute all together. b/ All couples or duos will than dance a solo show performance. Dancers are allowed to use their own music in the Show performance and lifts and acrobatics can also be used. c/ All couples or duos will dance a finishing 1 minute all together. d/ The adjudicators are using the 2-dimensional system with two set of placing, one place for the Artistic merit and one for the Technical merit.
Synchronized shadow dancing is choreographed. Each team is performing one by one to their own music. Categories Time limits Duos and couples 1.30 2 minutes Small teams 3-8 dancers 2 2.30 minutes Large teams 9-16 dancers 2.30 3 minutes Show cases over 16 dancers 2.30 3 minutes Competition styles a/ Latin American style. All kinds of Latin American styles b/ Ballroom style. All kinds of Ballroom styles c/ Free couple dance style. All styles, Open class. It is not allowed to compete in the Latin or the Ballroom style and also participate in the Free style with the same routine at the same event.
Duos and Couples a/ A team consist of only two dancers and therefore all steps must be danced side by side, in shadow position or behind each other synchronized facing the same way. Teams an Showcases a/ All dancers in the team are dancing exactly the same figures at the same time. It is possible to turn and travel in different direction, making different patterns as long as all dancers are dancing the same figure. All figures can be danced by all dancers in two ways, either as the leader or as the follower. (Men s and Ladies steps). d/ It is allowed to dance solo or with a hold as a couple. However a well balanced mix of dancing solo and as couples is rewarded.
a/ The judges will reward good synchronization between the team members. b/ Important is how the floor is used by the team. c/ Clever choreography, impressive impact of each team member with correct technique is also important but the team is always judged as a whole and not by individuals. d/ The judges uses the 2-dimensional system by giving two set of marks, one mark for the Artistic merit and one for the Technical merit.
Show Dance is a choreographed piece of performance. Each team is performing one by one to their own music. Latin American style. Make a choice of one or several dances in the Latin American family. The judges will reward clever choreography, and the use of a red thread or a small story. Innovative and modern use of figures and movements within the style of dancing that is performed will be highly rewarded. The judges mark the successful teams to the next round by giving two sets of marks. One for the Artistic merit and one for the Technical merit. In the final the judges mark the teams in order of merit. The judges gives two set of placing, one place for the Artistic merit and one for the Technical merit.

A more detailed and comprehensive presentation of the department is ready to be downloaded from our website for WDC members. National Competitions and National Championships can be run from the end of this meeting. Applications for International WDC Championships can be approved and titles granted for 2013. The full system will be up and running 2014-2015. We will have many members, many organizers, many competitions and we will see; many happy dancers!
