Vice Presidents Report Hi Everyone, With CACC race #2 behind us and the season well underway, we are still in great need of new turn workers. We had to pull some bodies from the pits to get the races going. In spite of the rain, Saturday was a good day with everyone behaving themselves. The weather was better on Sunday which made for some great racing and some real good dicing. The open wheel race was not so clean. We had a few problems, one of which Al Ores ended up against the wall coming out of turn 3 and was not feeling 100%. As a precautionary measure we had him checked out by the Paramedic's and he was sent to the Hospital for some tests. I am very happy to report that Al is going to be just fine other than being a bit sore for a few days. It's better to be safe than sorry. I would like to thank everyone for coming out when they can to volunteer. Without the volunteers there would be no racing and that would be no fun at all. We had some guest speaker's at the last META meeting about a new Electric Race Car that will be coming out soon. I wish more people were able to see their presentation as it was very interesting. It will be a bit different to deal with these cars, not a big deal, just a bit of a learning curve. Don't forget the 60th running of Knox Mountain Hill Climb on the May long weekend. We'll see you at the next race. Thanks, Dallis Volunteer Registration for Race Events This is a call out to all our fabulous race event volunteers! As we did last year, we have created a registration event for the race weekends on MotorsportReg at sccbc.motorsportreg.com If you are coming out to the volunteer on a race weekend, please complete the registration process so we know you're coming. Thank you all and have a great racing season! SCCBC Registrar CACC Logbooks Logbooks can be dropped in a box to be available at Tech (same as for the drivers logbooks) and the Steward or Course Marshal will sign for the event. Drop them off in the morning and pick them up at the end of day

May 20 & 21, 2017 The Knox Mountain Hillclimb, is run annually on Knox Mountain Park Road, in the City of Kelowna. The road, while paved, is narrow with off-camber corners, and steep grades; a nice Sunday drive, but hardly a race track. It is 2.2 miles (3.5km) long, and climbs approximately 800 feet (245 meters) in elevation for an average grade of 6.7%. With this year being the 60 th anniversary, Knox Mountain is the longest annually running paved hillclimb in North America. The event attracts top drivers from throughout the Pacific Northwest, looking for the challenge and thrill of being fastest. Cars are run one at a time, each trying to reach the top in the lowest elapsed time. Drivers/cars compete in various classes from open wheeled formula cars to powerful large engined GT cars. But, each hopes to be "King of the Hill", earning the fastest time of the weekend. The current hill record is 1m:37.065, held by John Haftner of Vancouver, British Columbia. Times under two minutes are considered exceptionally fast, with few drivers achieving that and even fewer sedans having ever achieved that. Most times fall between 2m00s and 2m30s. To achieve top times, speeds in excess of 160kpH must be reached on the short straights. Contact James to volunteer volunteers@knoxmtnhillclimb.ca Tel: 250-276-5435 The S.C.C.B.C. presents the 3rd race weekend of the 2017 season June 10 & 11 A CACC Sanctioned Event Featuring Time-Attack on Saturday and Vintage Racing on Sunday This is a triple points event with a points race on Saturday and two points races on Sunday.

From: http://westcoastkartclub.ca/ WCKC West Coast Kart Club Greg Moore Race Way, located in Chilliwack, BC, Canada, is known to be one of the most challenging and well designed karting tracks in Canada. Greg Moore Race Way/West Coast Kart Club has hosted many premier events in the past such as the North West Gold Cup, Can-Am Rotax Challenge, Western Canadian Championship and the Canadian National Championship. Besides being a first class track West Coast Kart Club takes pride in keeping a family atmosphere. Our members are ranging from the leisure drivers, young junior drivers, to National Champions. Got a kart at home? Take it to the track during practice days. Become a member, and you get a key of the track, it's that simple! About Greg Moore Raceway: Greg Moore Raceway has been designed to meet or exceed the requirements of the Commission Internationale de Karting FIA (CIK FIA), the world s motorsport governing body. The track layout is a twelve corner asphalt surface measuring 1,224 meters (4,015 feet) in length in its championship configuration, and is located in Chilliwack, British Columbia. Chilliwack is situated in the heart of the Upper Fraser Valley approximately 100 kilometers (60 miles) due east of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Drive ability of the track is considered highly technical with a variety of open high-speed sections and very technical turns. Each corner is uniquely angled, radiused and cambered, both positive and negative. The driver must concentrate throughout the expected 50 plus seconds per lap. Careful planning and strategic placement of intermediate connectors has created ten possible configurations ranging from 400 meters to 1,224 meters (1,312 feet to 4,015 feet). Additional track specifications are; 1. length 1,224 meters (4,015 feet) - width 8 to 11 meters (26.25 feet to 36.5 feet) - corners 12 (7 right, 5 left) 2. rotation can be driven clockwise or counterclockwise as determined by the club. 3. track record currently under 50 seconds for ICC, 4. surface custom asphalt design is Upper Course #2 hot mix asphalt as designed by Terra MacLeod Engineering Ltd. Utilizing Marshall design properties. The designer comments The evolution of our design took considerable time and thought with the inclusion of many revisions and options. Although the final product has many similarities to the original design, it is vastly superior in many respects. Detailed measurements of the physical characteristics are critical to the track s performance. Any variations to the design drawings during construction, change driving lines thereby affecting the driver expertise required. The entire layout was surveyed by laser to ensure quality control. This track is a dream to drive but is a great chore to drive fast.
